Anybody else find it weird when we learned in "reach" that Cortana was a forerunner AI, yet, later in the series, she has age complications because "5 years is a long life-time for an AI"... Yet Cortana has been alive since the forerunners and just now 5 years really got to her?...

@@trentwerner366 I think you got it wrong she wasn't a forerunner AI. She was created using a clone from doctor Halsey, and she was actually has been active for about 3 years before Halo Reach. What made her so important is that she has acquired the data Halsey has been working about the location of the Halo Arrays. That's how Cortana got the pillar of autumn to Halo, it wasn't a mere coincidence that a random slipspace jump ended up on a Halo ring

my bad, I guess I got confused at the end of Reach when you have to do the missions surrounding Halsey. She kept talking about all this forerunner information and a relic she had found. I thought the relic was Cortana...

Judging by what I've read of in some of the books, I'm more inclined to believe this was a bit of snarky sarcasm as a way of saying, "hey look, dumbass, perhaps you should check out this tunnel since it doesn't look like a fucking cave."
@@physical_insanity Word from the top (the devs) is that the caves didn't used to be all forerunner-y, at least not at that point in the level. Later on in development the map was changed but the dialogue was not

Originally the tunnel on Halo was gonna look like a natural cave system, but Cortana would notice that it had been dug, not formed naturally. They just didn't bother to remove the line.
