Wow! Bach really pulled out all the stops for that first movement, absolutely mesmerizing
Note that at 10:06, Schreier sings "auf seine Hülfe schau'n." I've not heard "Hilfe" pronounced like this anywhere else. I wonder how Bach's autograph copy spells it. Anyone know?
It's an old word. See the first tenor aria from Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. In the old publication you can see "Zu hülfe!".
