Black and Latinos and whites been getting down with all elements of Hip Hop for 50+ years. Hip hop always had Pro black beliefs. All of Sudden cats like Lord Jamar, Dr Umar and Tariq Nasheed wanna rewrite history to push this political FBA shit in Hip Hop and tear down the unity we’ve had in the streets. im Dominican and i’ve dedicated my entire life to hip hop. Peace to the Gods but i love this shit too much to give up it
I'm African-American, I don't subscribe to the narrative of someone being a guest. HIP-HOP is not a political party or a secret society, although Jamar is using it figuratively. The term hip-hop didn't exist in the beginning and the first element is graffiti, where there were many white and Latino writers, and some of them went to the second, which is breaking or B-boying. It's crazy, because there are some pioneers that would flip flop about who created hip-hop, depending who the interviewer is.
I am too young to be from that first generation(41 so I am like the second generation), but hip hop spoke to me early. I am a white from a poor area in MA, and it was always mixed where I lived. Ain't even like NYC, where neighborhoods were racial, if you were poor you lived in the PJ's and I was poor. I grew up on NWA, KRS, Rakim and also was into metal(which explains why I am a Necro Fan since the 90s). I don't feel like a guest, I feel like hip hop is my home. I feel like I have supported it, respected it, and it has changed my life for the better. I don't accept I am a guest, and even if we were, you can't throw us out, hip hop belongs to everyone now. Its more pervasive than rock. You mentioned how you have a unique perspective. You and your brother spoke to me, as a poor white kid with no one but his brother, surviving the ghetto while having a foot in metal, and the other in hip hop. The moment I heard yall(I heard Bill First) it was like yall were speaking to me personally. Eminem, I never related. Many did, but I WASN'T a surburban party kid, I was from the streets.

Black people had to die and protest just for white to allow them human rights like whites. And that was only in the fucking 60s. My grandmother is remembers the real racism, and here you are calling us racist in a country known for to be the most racist against black people. SMH.. this is why we call you guests in hip hop. Just like the best 2024 country song was not allow to win one award because for whites. Did you complain about that ? Go cry to Vlad. You toke rock and jazz so we created hip hop in the hood while dealing with REAL racism and discrimination. And you now want to kidnap hip hop. You have stole everything from us and including our mind and body. Go make country great again
Tons of respect to you for this. Esp about bringing the argument of instrument technology into it. 100% valid .. ive been a white rapper/producer on the eastcoast for a long time and all this is on point. Also not being a leftist absolutely hurts you in the “culture” and industry
Can we at least have the opportunity to lump all the people in the same group? I agree with you hip hop got watered down, but black ppl contributed to it as much as other races. Bro, hip hop is worldwide movement, wonders have been made before/after the smartphone period by white/asian/african/latino guys, the list is long. It’s just you don’t know them. When I hear “hip hop to be more black” I want to battle you dude, no matter you’re black or white (if white I would destroy the fool out of you, in freestyle of course). There’s no “ownership” in hip hop, everybody can contribute or risk to dilute it, this is the beauty and danger of the whole movement. Petit con de cul blanc, arrête de baisser ton pantalon! ✨
@og why you deleted my comment? You’re not a true OG. I disagree with what you say. BIG TIME. I personally think Hip hop is a “black enough” today, the garbage and the good is everywhere, it’s an international movement! Have you heard European/UK/Asian rappers? They are not black and they kill the shit, why you need more black rappers is maybe because you have too narrow horizons bro. Check a bit what‘s rap outside of the US ✨
Necro is one of the very few rappers who gets realer and realer with time instead of wacker. Big respect bro, been listening to your shit since the mid 2000s. You and death rap are the reason I was introduced to rap in the first place and still listen to it today. I used to be one of those sheltered nerds who thought rap was trash until a buddy of mine put on Dead body disposal while we were smoking. I listen almost exclusively to rap these days, and have continued to listen to NECRO throughout... The fact you made this video, and said these things that need to be said just solidifies my opinion of your dopeness both now and back then. You are one of the few I respect not only for your music, but for yourself and what you stand for as well. It takes balls to say these things in a world and culture that will 100% push back and shit on you for speaking the truth about it. Anyway, can't wait to hear your next shit. Keep killing it lyrically and in shit like this. I know you will. Huge respect from Canada brother

Necro, I have been a fan of yours since I was around my early/mid 20's. I just turned 40, yes I am white, and from Toronto. I have been called certain names for listening to hip hop, especially if it is a black artist. My common law partner only lets me blast hip hop if the artist is white and I don't understand that. Like Eminem, he got mad respect for him and he has never heard you, but I am going to show him your music. Keep up the awesome work, you make us proud (even though skin color shouldn't matter I agree with that) and I'm really feeling that song with you & Ill Bill the Billie Jean one lately. I played it for my friend this morning, and he was frkn howling, dude loved it. We love you Necro!!
Love this video Necro! Your knowledge and views on hip hop really resonates with me and so many people. I been listening to your music for 19-20 years. I respect the fuck out of your contribution to hip hop!
If you’re respecting the art then nothing else matters. Everyone knows who created hip hop and the blues It’s a given. Doesn’t mean others can’t embrace the art though and run with it with their own style and add to the culture. Artist get it. Fans don’t necessarily get it though because a lot of fans dabble in hip hop and don’t know the history and then speak on it.
@ yep and make arguments based off the latest TH-cam video they watched instead of really getting immersed into the music and culture. When we’re growing up we knew we had to really know about Black Sabbath or zeppelin before we spoke about it or we’d be clowned. Time to challenge these kids a bit like my generation was challenged. In the end they’ll thank us
I remember the comments that Ice T and KRS said about Soulja Boy. Fans of Soulja clowned them over their age - like they were just hating because of being oldheads.
Soulja knows better but is controlled but also wants to be his own thing that's why he doesn't have hits anymore. Hes smarter than he looks and acts, I know it's hard to believe lol.
WOW! FIRST TIME I HEARD NECRO BE DOWN TO EARTH!! I REALLY LIKE THIS INTERVIEW AND REALLY DIG WHAT YOU'RE SAYING IN REGARDS TO YOUR VIEWS ON HIP HOP N LIFE!!! BIG UPZ!
Much respect for this video, I think it's a very necessary topic to be discuss. Imo, music ain't supposed to belong to any group or color, people like Lord Jamar are acting like gatekeepers of the rap culture, even tho i give him his respect for Brand Nubians and shit i don't agree with his opinions. What about Cypress Hill and DJ Muggs, They blew up around the same time as Brand Nubians... Nuff said. P.S: Dead body Disposal will always be one of my favorite joints!
It's not racism, but it's definitely gatekeeping. Look at somebody like Kid Rock. This is a guy who was embraced and mentored by the black emcees in the Detroit area and used that cred to get on. Then, not only does he never throw it back to those guys but gets into some pretty overtly racist shit himself in terms of who he tours with etc. Completely abandons it to become a country boy whatever. It's the idea that these people are not part of the culture, so they're gonna do what Kid Rock did; use it to get put on and then forget it when he gets where he wants to be. Of course, that doesn't describe everyone, but I do think it is the fear that facilitates a lot of what you're talking about.
@@bassbole what about kid Rock's drummer Stefanie Eulinberg? She's black and she's still in kid Rock's band and one of Kid Rock sons is black. He never abandoned them.
Love the video's keep them up, you seem to be a lot more chilled out these days too!! Maybe one day you could do a video on the downfall of NYC Hip Hop, Who was to blame? And how come there's nobody left apart from you keeping that gritty NYC style alive.
I dare to say that Racism and hate are vital components in Hip Hop. That hate is part of the energy that started it all. The Golden Era was primarily driven by Black Nationalists and 5%ers (which turned out to be a gimmick). When a dope white emcee can survive or thrive in that hateful, competitive game its almost like a balancing of what Black men faced in America up until about 20 years ago. Ironically, Hip Hop race conciousness ish helped to shape the "color blind" 90s. Now that the culture has been thorougly coopted by corporate and government interests Hip Hop only serves to create shortlived cultural artifacts and producrs to reinforce the only thing that unifies all modern, Western peoples: Materialism. Part of what us older heads miss about the Phat Beats/Golden Era is the ability to exercise freedom of association and the freedom to tackle race in a direct, often humorous way. That ethos largely came out of New York borroughs that were divided. Sorry Necro, didnt mean to drop books in yo comments section. Good vid. Keep the discussion going. Peace
just to preface my comment, eye Love everyone, but om wondering how is the 5% a gimmick? If you hypothetically snapped your fingers and magically made the 5% disappear frum history, Hip Hop wouldn't even exist! The founder of the 5%, Allah, formerly known as Clarence 13X didn't have any problem with righteous white people. He was very close with the Republican Mayor of NYC at the time and Allah gave him a Universal Flag. The Mayor gave him the building now known as the Allah School. Just because a segment of the adherents of a certain religion or school of thought have questionable behavior doesn't nullify that religion or school of thought.
maybe it was only allowed to be a gimmick but label suits or cia pigs wouldnt allow it to be a mainstay. Maybe alot of katts that pushed it for awhile were frontin'. Maybe a bit of it all.
"Systemic racism includes the complex array of antiblack practices, the unjustly gained political-economic power of whites, the continuing economic and other resource inequalities along racial lines, and the white racist ideologies and attitudes created to maintain and rationalize white privilege and power. “Systemic here means that the core racist realities are manifested in each of society’s major parts [...] each major part of U.S. society-the economy, politics, education, religion, the family-reflects the fundamental reality of systemic racism." - “Racist America: Roots, Current Realities, and Future Reparations” by Sociologists Dr. Joe Feagin We don't do Elvis 2.0. Kraftwerk gets plenty of props by the early generation. Marley Marl has always given Kraftwerk & Arthur Baker, Giorgio Moroder their props. The issue is nobody is trying to steal Kraftwerk's music. We don't own magazines to cross over into another music genre not ours and make these ridiculous greatest lists. Especially from people who aren't from the culture. There are so many not our culture or skin color who have robbed the brothas for there money, while putting there kids through college,. They will let us say nigga a million times per record. But if u say jew, they will make u take it off, or erase it. Look how they came at Ice-T and Ice Cube when they were saying racist shit and going at the cops. But when Eminem says nigger going at black women etc, they tried to hide it and sweep it under the rug. It's more about the people in power and the mainstream. Cos all the underground white dudes I know love hip hop. Most respect the culture and accept to being guests in the art form. They don't try to steal the shit and act like they created or I invented it.

I heard a story from the early 2000s, about Mac Lethal winning a Rap contest put on by Def Jam. The first prize was meant to be a record contract, but when Mac won, he wasn't given the contract.
Music genres and categories are over rated. Essentially, rhyming over music has been going on for thousands of years. I remember Snoop Dogg even saying that country music is basically rap and that Johnny Cash was his favorite rapper. Good music is good music.
I enjoy your music, and alot of other NY artists/producers. But i also indulge in the native side of hiphop as well. I like it when people actually have something to say. A feeling of soul, a touch of emotion, and a hell of alot of realness. All blended into one.
I think some would argue that everything that Black people create (of value) gets co-opted by the larger society (language/slang, fashion, music, cuisine…). Recognizing HipHop as a Black art form is important because they need that credit. All black kids learn about it what all the great white people throughout history have accomplished, meanwhile they were slaves (that’s the narrative). It’s not about dissing other races, HipHop culture has already been sold out to the corporations long ago, but at least allow Blacks to retain the social currency of having created it. I remember when rap wasn’t considered music because they weren’t singing, & they used samples. Z100 radio stations would advertise “No Rap”, where were all the other races THEN claiming to have founded it? I don’t have a strong opinion either way, this is just the best counter argument I’m aware of. Prior to forced integration the black dollar stayed within the community, & blacks owned all kinds of farms, businesses, banks, & social clubs. After the 1960’s, everything blacks created was absorbed by the larger society, we all got tossed into the melting pot.
though it may be a complex and multi faceted issue, you can boil it down to some easily identifiable examples like this that you presented very concisely and thoughtfully here... it seems very simple -- you can't call out whackness no matter what, and that should not be the case, and at the same time you can't elevate greatness without it being problematic, and both of those things at their core are counter intuitive and backwards... there is an inherent superiority/inferiority complex that pervades all of it too, which is also counter to the all inclusiveness of what hip hop seemingly triumphs at its core... great video, hopefully the narrative continues to unfold and the discussion continues to unravel over time, to where we can come together in both mainstream and underground as champions of talent and integrity, rather than false doctrines and racist tropes of hate both cross culturally and amongst peers within the same tribes, to at least find more common ground instead of perpetuating an 'us vs them' mentality, and not some kumbaya bullshit, but where the real recognize real and the whackness gets debted and talent rises to the top no matter what color
I gotta admit when i first heard Necro n Cage saying "niqqa" i was thrown off. They was real comfortable with it too. Btw...Puerto Ricans didn't invent break dancing. There's plenty of Black underground rappers who don't get the time of day...more mainstream club orientated rap music was always given more media attention hence why Souljah Boy dance friendly sound would be more accepted than Roc Marciano. Has nothing to do with race. Horror core was too gimmicky to last which is why Necro n others like him didn't blow up...not cuz he's White. Fat Joe started making radio friendly rap n blew...not his hardcore stuff or when he was supposedly more feared. A lot of guys just aren't marketable...n that's a fact. Plenty of Black rappers tried to diss Eminen n a lot of Black ppl came to his defense becuz they like his music. He found a way to make himself marketable unlike a lot of other White rappers. R&B/Soul doesn't have a lot White artists in it either. Certain genres of music are more dominated by certain races than others. Just like a certain group of ppl own the entertainment industry n decide who gets signed...so blame them if u looking fir an excuse as to why things are the way they are in the music industry.
If you take credit for the good then take credit for the bad, record companies don't target whatever isn't hitting and unfortunately your community loves licentious and decadent culture ╮(╯▽╰)╭ which is why 80% of your artists will still be dark YNs not jake from statefarm.
Whats good Necro. Love the content, good topic. I miss the ol MIX TAPE days. You earned your stripes like Schwartzkoph 😂😂Necro! Glenwood Projects , love that.
It is what it is. Other than Living Color and Bad Brains, what other Black bands made it in Metal? I know for a fact that there are a lot of Black bands in Metal who were being disrespected for being Blacks. Basket Ball was invented by whytes, and it took a while for Blacks to dominate the sport so yes, Blacks are guests in the house of Basket Ball. Do you know that even with House and Techno music, that were created by Blacks, there was a time when it was hard for House Black DJs to mix in clubs? I don't get it, nobody challenges Mexicans for creating Mariachi music, whytes for creating Punk Rock, but when it comes to blacks it's "no, no, no. We created the turn table; therefore, Hip Hop is not yours, you can't have your own ish, it's ours."
As a genre though, it's the most ideal to be capitalized off of due to the nature of it being able to sample every genre n style of music from every time period of recorded music. Once it got out there enough for anyone to start making money off of mass audiences from it, it's foolish to expect it to stay within one demographic past the first wave
@@warhorrorspondent Anybody can rap if they want to. I like Action Branson a lot, and he's a whyte rapper. All I'm saying is, it's normal to be challenged if you're not from the community that created it. Like I said before, other than Living Color and Bad Brains, I don't know other black bands that made it in Metal. And we're talking since the 80s, early 90s. Lots of black bands tried, but they were being rejected. House music was created by blacks, but there was a time when it was hard for a black dj to mix House music in clubs, because most people thought that House music came from Europe. It is what it is.
I think it's important to zoom out of Hip Hop History specifically, and look at American History and our society as a whole. White males have always had a collective leg up in this country. I'm not saying there isn't a lot of poor white people struggling to get by, cuz there is.... but in America, being a white rapper might literally be the ONLY example of being white giving you an inherent disadvantage out of the gate. So its like, I understand the points being made here, but also boo-hoo.
I say boo hoo! These folks called our music jungle music and didn't want anything to do with it. Now they're acting like they've been a part of the culture all along!
Yeah, i mean, as a white dude, I kind of accept that people are gonna look at me as an outsider in hip hop discussions. I can't be super upset about it.
I don't even think white MCs have that much of a disadvantage, honestly. I mean, maybe if you're trying to fit in at a local level, but white dudes blow up on less skill than a black fellow would have.
@@MCLottotv "These folks"....."Now they're acting"... isn't this the same paint with the same brush prejudice that was decried decades ago when they where being unfairly ascribed to your people? @@MCLottotv Listen to the interviews with Dante Ross, He has countless stories of how hip hop was eagerly adopted by the punk / new wave scene whilst the top black music executives hated on hip hop in favour of R&B and how black club owners didnt want hip hop culture in their clubs, especially B Boying
As being a Caucasian in hip hop, I can agree to most of this.. it's true though, stories tend to vary from time to time, but facts are facts as science will always remain science. In the beginning, there was people dancing... historians never said "African Americans were dancing while Kool Herc was spinning drum breaks".. like..? Lol - if you were at 1520 Sedgwick Ave, you were there... that's all that mattered. Never said anything about skin color and who is accepted and who isn't. Cindy (Hercs older sister) never said at the first party that Herc dj'd that "only blacks are welcome"... 🤷 Lord Jamars interpretation of the music and culture are solely his, and don't represent or speak for the rest of us. I'd ask the guy, "hey, Jamar... I'm "white", I should be playing a guitar, right?" Well, guitars are "black" too... all of western music is African influenced, lol. Point being, the first DJ's and emcees happened to be African American... a lot of writers were Italian and Jewish, and many of the first bboy crews like Rocksteady were mostly Latino... It was never a race thing. As Buck Shot said, (mad paraphrased) "if you can cut a dude open, and the blood he bleeds is black, then you can say hip hop was a black thing".
This just brought to mind when DJ Vlad had Lord Jamaar on, and LJ said white people don't belong in rap. That shit was like "yoo, you've made dope music but that is one of the fucking dumbest takes in music." EDIT: oh shit, yeah, you just mentioned Jamaar. I feel like thats the only thing holding me back! grew up as a student of the game, it raised me. got discouraged in the last 5 or so years seeing how most of the people I grew up listening to and being a fan of would seemingly hate me for my beliefs and views or how I look.
Its a double, or maybe even triple edged sword. I do think that as a white fan or participant you have to keep in mind that for many decades, for every one person who was legitimately passionate about the culture, there were ten vultures, predatory execs, etc. I also think within the broader context of American society, it makes sense why black Americans would feel pretty defensive and protective over the artform that has acted as their platform (and avenue to genuine financial power and influence) within wider culture. On the other hand, I agree on an interpersonal level it's completely wack to judge anyone via color alone. And I definitely think being a white hip-hop head is a struggle at times where you're constantly treated as an outsider regardless of your level of involvement, knowledge, support, etc. That being said, many of the highest-grossing rap acts ever are white. The idea that it's totally impossible to be mainstream as a white rapper isn't true - Eminem is the biggest act ever, El-P has achieved borderline-mainstream success via Run The Jewels, Mac Miller is beloved, and for every one of these genuine acts there's five Post Malones that posture as hip-hop-adjacent acts to make money and then abandon it once they're famous to appeal to a wider mainstream audience. It's a complicated and sensitive conversation - but I understand emotionally where you're coming from. It's definitely annoying that even as a lifelong fan of hip-hop, people more or less will laugh in your face or assume you're an Eminem stan or whatever if you so much as mention liking hip-hop. I dunno.
Here's a real fun fact: if all your race does is whine about shit eventually nobody cares what color you are because you're fucking annoying and have nothing worth saying to say anymore
You said being rugged didn't work for you, but it did in your own way. I don't know if I would be aware of you if you didn't go so hard. You stood out to young men who were going hard in their own lives.

I remember reading an article in the Source back in the day that said over 70% of hip-hop album purchases were by whites. Imagine if that 70% didn't buy those albums. Hip-hop might not even exist. It's very insulting and disingenuous to say that a demographic that buys your albums, goes to your concerts, and supports you through word of mouth isn't part of the culture. From a business perspective it's also completely ridiculous. When K Dot did that performance in LA I seen comments saying "this is our culture" meanwhile the front rows of the concert were packed with white people. Insanity. When people came from all across the world to Egypt to buy jewelry and other elements of their culture, do you think they cared about appropriation? Culture should be shared so everyone can appreciate it and participate in it

WE REAL HIP HOP HEADS DO NOT FALL FOR THE B.S!!
Holy shit, Necro. You are right. All this is facts. Color only seems to matter to a certain kind of person. A stupid person. Music is colorblind. I believe we are at a point where norms will change overnight because of conversations like this. They don’t know, bro. And you’re just the person to tell ‘em. I love this.

Necro is a Hip Hop Historian and a beast. As an Asian kid that grew up in the Golden Age of Hip Hop, I feel the disrespect too! Hip Hop is about lyrics and real ish, it shouldn't be a woke agenda and racism. There are so many wack mcs out there, it's all fake clout now. The game has been lame forever now but the underground remains. PS where is Ming the Merciless? He was 🔥 in the Non Phixion dvd
I TRIED TO MAKE HIM A RAPPER - HE HAD POTENTIAL - HE HAD SOME DECENT THUG LYRICS - BUT HE WAS TOO CONCERNED WITH BEING A STREET DUDE AND LIVING THAT LIFE - BEING A RAPPER WAS TOO FOCUSED FOR HIM AT THE TIME - WAS NOT HIS CALLING I GUESS - WHAT YOU WANT YOU GO AFTER - I MADE BLACK HELICOPTERS FOR HIM ACTUALLY - COULD HAVE BEEN HIS FIRST CLASSIC AND NOBODY ASIAN WAS OUT AT THAT TIME THAT WAS A REAL THUG - HE COULD HAVE BEEN A LEGEND AND CHOSE TO NOT DO IT - OH WELL - CAN'T SAY I DID NOT TRY

We don't care about that anymore in the black community. Feel disrespected all you want. Asian don’t care about black American. Only our music and money. White banks gave you loans for business but denied us so you could infiltrate the black community and exploit. Released FBI file. Go back to china music or kpop. I don’t see the any Asian community march with Black American
Puerto Ricans and latinos don't get the credit they deserve for a lot of ish. Thanks for sharing man. Eugenics seems obvious to some of us and I'm glad you have the nuts to share.
The colonization of Boricuas by the United Snakes of Merica is why. "Latinos" and whites even cuffed salsa from Puerto Rican, Black Cuban, and Afro-Caribbean roots. Reggaetón as well was cuffed by Latin Americans/wyt controlled global music industry...created in Puerto Rico by the most pro African of Puerto Ricans and influenced by Afro-Panamanians to give credit where credit is due.

Necro I’ve been listing to you since 2004. Just want to say I agree with you. You were one of my inspirations. I gave up rapping. I faced the same racism in hip hop. I was told that wasn’t my culture and that I need to “stop acting black”. Thank you for exposing racism in rap.
Yes. This is such a overbearing and huge issue in hiphop- color gatekeeping is a real thing- in many fields and many places- but for sure is brutally active still and always has been in hip hop.
Wuttup Necro. Shout out from the lower left coast SD. I been a fan of ur shit for a min now rite. Beats are dope, rhymes are hardcore, maybe not too complexed, but cool. From my view, I look at like occult classics and occult following. U got ur lane my G. Don't think ur style would ever get that mass or commercial following but that's all good. Maybe u weren't chasing that maybe u were. But ur name is known cross the states, and the world abroad. Don't trip G.
THANKS BUT YOU TELLING ME WHAT I CAN DO AND REACH IS GARBAGE - I DECIDE WHAT I CAN REACH AND DO - DEF NOT YOU - AND WHAT YOU THINK OF MY LYRICS DOES NOT MATTER - YOU CAN HATE ME AND IT WOULD NOT MATTER - I DON'T TRIP
The Fat Joe line is from the LL Cool J "i shot ya" remix.. I'd rather be feared than loved because the fear last longer.. bangin song. Prodigy's verse was sick!
Hip-hop is far from racist. What it comes down to is that as more non black people pursue it as a career, the more it runs the risk of becoming a n9n black culture. I shouldn't have to explain how other things created by the black community have been consistently stolen, and the black contribution all but erased. You should understand the situation before speaking recklessly about it.
Necro, Gortex (Lord GOAT), Big Punisher, Chino XL, Evidence, RA the Rugged man, Arsonists, Vinnie Paz, Immortal Technique... Just to name a few.... You ARE HIP-HOP! ❤
Yo .... I'm with you brother. I worked in the industry and there are two sets of Jews. Some like yourself who are open minded, love the culture, appreciate skills and were the gatekeepers and promoters that helped blow shit up. The purveyors of culture that opened up a new paradigm that was hella fresh. lyor Cohen, dante ross, etc. then you have the other jews who may or may not be leftist herd mentality but truly despise hip hop. Some will scream dei but their actions speak differently and never will they let anyone outside their circle excel in the game. anyone with differing views will get blackballed. Blacks at the major labels on urban teams run the same game, so they're closed to other races excelling in "their" ish. It's so crazy and caused a lot of disillusionment for me because I grew up with underground ish to. And the fact that all races could come together and party, have cyphers, dance and bake bread together defines why i love hip hop. And I voted for Trump too because I think he has a better chance to combat inflation and at least has business sense unlike these morons who race bait and throw away taxpayer dollars on wars and failed policies. At least Trump's seemingly more transparent. Fuck politicians though. All talk and gassing peeps up for their own financial gain and only look out for those in their circles. Pieces of shit, all of them ... And it don't matter what race you are, greed and corruption comes in all forms and colors.
@necrovideo maybe so, I don't know the man but I know he did have a small stint at Ada recently and was still a SVP or something so he very much could be in that patchwork, even as a "head". But I guess what I was trying to say is that he signed and had an eye for great talent during his Elektra days for which if it wasn't for his intervention a lot of people would never have been introduced to. But everyone knows what happened to kmd doom, odb and even del went independent so maybe his intervention was a double edged sword. And I will say that major labels did put money into the recordings and were more patient with "artist development". They don't sound like cheaply produced and engineered recordings. Mastering was on point. Not everyone may have gone platinum, but we still got some classics on albums beyond the first and they were certified bangers. But too bad the contracts were never in the artists favor. It was always a game of throwing everything out there and just seeing what sticks, hoping for that golden goose
Sorry to go on a rant and no disrespect to the Jewish people regardless of political views or views on hip hop. Fact is they pretty much created the modern entertainment industry as we know it so why would they want to give up that power to someone outside their tribe. I'm not mad at it ... ✌️
Necro, RA the Rugged Man, and Cage all top talent. Everything you’re saying is true Necro. You bring the rawest darkest lyrics and beats 🎧 the mainstream fakes got nothing on you.
I get it 100. As a white dude growing up in Redhook BK & Mass, my brother and I both took the shit. Although we never jumped in the rap waters. We were also into Metal, Hardcore and HipHop. We were in Graffiti & Breakdance crews. Dabbled in early DJ shit. All late 70s to early 80s. Probably 1980 (but who’s counting). We did get some shit but could back our shit up. We were poppin as breakers & graffiti artists. Almost had to be twice as nice than many. I saw it definitely in music but didn’t touch that area. Did write a little but never attempted. Fucked up part I got shit from blk dudes about being white in HipHop & also got shit from white dudes for it too. Definitely felt like we’re setting a trend for white dudes. But our crews were all colors and they weren’t kicking that shit. My point is that we always felt we just had to be twice as nice. Funny shit to mash majority of them. Thanks for carrying that torch for us & representing the ill side and not that whack commercial ish. Everyone after Gen X won’t understand this cuz they don’t get that it was a time that HipHop wasn’t in every household, nevermind not even every blk household like today. Whites still not looked at as legit.
Here's a profound statement: Nobody OWNS culture. Once again, well said with your viewpoint. We dedicated our 2nd episode to the topic about guests in HipHop. Black Emcee/White Emcee www.youtube.com/@goininshow
If nobody owned culture, culture would exist slowly. Culture belongs to who created it. That's not to say you can enjoy it, just respect who it came from.
@Melanatedsince2000 I have no idea what your first statement means. No person or group of people own a culture that is specific to any group of humans. Therefore, any human being has the potential to be integrated 4 a lack of a better term, into any other human beings culture. Respect is there. When you don't respect your own shit that's where it gets fucked up. We all know who's to blame the artist it's the fans and it's the record labels. This is why 90 percent of the hip hop music I listen to is local. It's always been fuck the industry.
@@rawproof I know you have no idea, w people have taken others' culture for their own for the longest. Just claiming culture belongs to no one person goes against what culture is.
@@Melanatedsince2000 You cannot own human behavior. It's either one species or it's not. R e s p e c t is everything but it has nothing to do with my initial statement.
Let's not forget about Cypress Hill Necro ,they was a major deal especially in the 90s . Two Latino emcees ( shout of B-Real and Sen Dog ) with a white boy making the beats ( shout out DJ Muggs).
Respect for putting on a camera and saying what you really feel, no BS. That takes courage. That being said, you made some good points. I agree with about 75% of what you are saying, mostly about the skin color issues (and I'm an white MC also in the NYC underground, who is also a fan of HipHop from the very start, the 70s). One thing I was surprised by and that I don't agree with, is you said that you use the N-word. Did I mishear that? I don't understand why you would. It would make an interesting future video, to explain your thinking on that. People will debate in the comments, I always hated the word and never used it, but I'm curious about your thinking. Anyway, you do have a good podcaster/storyteller voice, so you should do very well in this space. And I don't hold against you that you threatened to punch me in the face one time 🤣🤣🤣. That's how it is in Brooklyn, in NYC and in the Underground, lol. ✌️
it seems a bigger issue now than 30 years ago, its pathetic ...

Black and Latinos and whites been getting down with all elements of Hip Hop for 50+ years. Hip hop always had Pro black beliefs.

identity politics aka marxism has exploded in the last 12 years, all by design. you gotta control the sheeple.

Blacks ruined hip hop.

Actually, I wish hip hop was more black like in the pre-smartphone days. Everything got terribly watered down in the fruityloops era.

Yeah that's exactly the problem. These people think they know what hip hop is because they're fans of the music. In reality they're in fact clueless.
@ yep and make arguments based off the latest TH-cam video they watched instead of really getting immersed into the music and culture.

@mattycakesmuhammmad 5% or NOI in and of itself is not a gimmick. How it was used in Hip Hop was ultimately a gimmick.
maybe it was only allowed to be a gimmick but label suits or cia pigs wouldnt allow it to be a mainstay. Maybe alot of katts that pushed it for awhile were frontin'. Maybe a bit of it all.

Kraftwerk gets plenty of props by the early generation. Marley Marl has always given Kraftwerk & Arthur Baker, Giorgio Moroder their props. The issue is nobody is trying to steal Kraftwerk's music. Music genres and categories are over rated. Essentially, rhyming over music has been going on for thousands of years. I remember Snoop Dogg even saying that country music is basically rap and that Johnny Cash was his favorite rapper. Good music is good music.
exactly, always makes me laugh when people want to act like words over a beat started in NY in the last 60-75 years
I enjoy your music, and alot of other NY artists/producers.

After the 1960’s, everything blacks created was absorbed by the larger society, we all got tossed into the melting pot.
some artists in the beginning that were influenced by Kraftwerk. I love that.
Lord Jamar is a flat earther, his opinion is null and void.......
Weak rapper.. race baiter... trying to stay relevant.. now turning on b boys..
though it may be a complex and multi faceted issue, you can boil it down to some easily identifiable examples like this that you presented very concisely and thoughtfully here... it seems very simple -- you can't call out whackness no matter what, and that should not be the case, and at the same time you can't elevate greatness without it being problematic, and both of those things at their core are counter intuitive and backwards... there is an inherent superiority/inferiority complex that pervades all of it too, which is also counter to the all inclusiveness of what hip hop seemingly triumphs at its core... great video, hopefully the narrative continues to unfold and the discussion continues to unravel over time, to where we can come together in both mainstream and underground as champions of talent and integrity, rather than false doctrines and racist tropes of hate both cross culturally and amongst peers within the same tribes, to at least find more common ground instead of perpetuating an 'us vs them' mentality, and not some kumbaya bullshit, but where the real recognize real and the whackness gets debted and talent rises to the top no matter what color
Yo Necro! The cap and hoodie is a supercool so Salute Mr Necro💯✌🏾🔥🫠🍻

Loving this series. I think I'm Necro's age & I remember when being into hiphop was not considered cool for a white kid at all.
Great video keep em coming
Lord Jamar Goes Hard On Us !

I got to get back in it, been 7-8 years since I released music and it's never gone away, I always get discouraged with the production side of things, I am gifted with lyricism, it just comes to me, but I am always lacking with no beat maker / producer, any tips on how to pursue finding someone to mesh with?

What it comes down to is that as more non black people pursue it as a career, the more it runs the risk of becoming a n9n black culture.

DANTE IS A LEFTY FOR THE RECORD - JUST SAYING
