OMG!!! OMG PEOPLE ITS HAPPENING!!! ITS FINALLY HAPPENING!!!! EVERYONE STAY CALM!!! Magnetar I have been waiting for you to choose this one and it is everything I hoped for and more. Thank you sir for such wonderful linguistic skill as you narrated me through an age old classic. Love all of your work.
For a split second as I was reading the BEGINNING OF YOUR COMMENT I felt a lil wiggle of panic… That gd sound from 2:18pm today still has me on edge… only time The Government is EARLY so I WASN’T PREPARED, damnit. Aannyway, thanks for the awesome upload.❤
I was literally just listening to this story on Audible while driving home, then just as I get home this video dropped. What are the odds! One of my favorite books of all time, and hands down my favorite classic!
True story: I had the musical version of War of the Worlds. But. I only had the first half. Didn't know there even WAS a second half, for a very very long time. So I grew up thinking the Martians won, until like, my last year of high school.
Awesome work as always Brother. I've been stuck once more wating and watching the wood lines and fence rolls. Thanks for posting up with me and tellin me a story while I wait. Even better yet I've still got part 2 to listen to if this turns into a long night lol. Thanks again my Friend
My grandpa read this classic to me when I was a little boy and I got seriously scared then I read it to my kids when they were little and they loved it
I watched Alien and The Thing at 5 years old. To make it even more brutal, they were both in Russian. I'm gonna re-enact those to my kids with sock puppets, and read them this instead.
I LOVE THIS, i have read the book many times, I love the radio broadcast they did back in the day. Your voice would do great as a broadcaster., doing the war of the worlds broadcast over the radio.
I love this story and even the Tom Cruise movie to a certain extent! As two characters really ruined it for me, and many other's, those two children especially the teenaged boy, as there was just too many things wrong and had some plot holes and bad writing, same with the girl but it's still a some what good movie.
Yeah, the kids in that movie were utter trash. Neither appreciated what their father did for them, and didn't even blink when he walked away after they were brought to their mother. Personally, I kinda wished the teenager didn't make it. His bullheaded crap was rewarded, making his father look stupid and cowardly. It feels like the moral of the movie was 'if you were a loser before, risking your life for your kids won't change that at all.'
@@Michael_Breiter AGREED! Also I had a huge problem with how the boy some how made it to the Grandparents? After seeing that group of soldiers get totally blown away? Like did he magically fly away? Also that little girls screeching put my teeth on edge every time she did it! The last time I watched it I swore that it was the last time ever!
They need to make a proper movie, 100% authentic to the original book. Victorian weapons and tactics against high tech but vulnerable tripods would be far more interesting than modern weapons vs hurrrrrr invincible shield bubble. The shields are an ass stupid deus ex machina because frankly slow, skinny tripods with short range beam weapons aren’t threatening at all against modern weapons without the shield cheating. But vs horse drawn artillery and bolt action Enfield rifles? A very different matter indeed.
@@282XVL Agreed! If ever there needed to be a remake? It’s this one,as long as the right person gets behind it, like a Christopher Nolan or Neill Blomkamp? Or even David Fincher! I think either of those would do an excellent job of it,not whether it’s on any studio’s upcoming project remains to be seen?
Does anyone else get random noises every so often? Besides that the story is a great rendition. I've heard Orwell's version broadcasted on the radio on TH-cam, which is a great listen.
I'll have to listen to it again. I'll let you know this weekend when I have time to do so. It's "Ah" or "Eh" in the background of the start of a few sentences.
Ive got the original vinal record both halves . My dad gave it to me , i have that and the original lord of the rings soundtrack on vinal too both are from the 60s i have no idea what there worth but both are in mint conditionand have cover art that came with it i think the lird of the rings one has a poster too. My bros middel name is bilbo ...im totally serious on that too no joke , though he tells no one .
Love your work and this author. Loved the book. However... it has always irritated me his ignorance of the Tasmanian "war of extermination". Anyone interested in the story of the colony of Tasmania's indigenous peoples should acquaint themselves with Keith Windschuttle's "Fabrication of Aboriginal History: Volume 1".

I still have my old 33 LP.
Probably a more memorable story that way. No happy ending
@@blacklisted4885 as much as I like Parson's song, the hits are pretty much all in the first half also.

Worth the wait though 😂👍
The opening is one of the best openings to a science fiction book ever written. Nicely narrated too!
Np thanx
This gonna be fun
TH-cam is full of nonsense creepypasta stories of alien invasion, but this story from over a hundred years ago beats them all hands down
23:54 made me jump out of my skin! 😱, scariest part in the whole 4 hours! 😭😭😭😭
Wow. Great story, and the narrator does a wonderful job😮
Outstanding stuff sir thank you
Dude, this is amazing you're narrating this!!!
Man, I've read and seen so many different versions of war of the worlds and yet here we are with another version that is new to me .

I have this book. I am so thrilled to be able to hear it for free without needing a subscription to anything! The MEMORIES
Thank you magnatar you have done a great job with this one 😊
I love this version of War Of The Worlds. Please do an audiobook of The Rains and Last Chance by Gregg Hurwitz.
Let me know when you get this.

I did not know the book was set in England. I’ve been to all the towns mentioned.
Read the book years ago, it's still one of my favorites. Great job sir!

YEEEEEESSSSS!
Am I the only one that keeps hearing that loud split second random “EEHH!” Every now and then
I started listening to this and I just heard the first “eh” audio glitch that you are talking about. It comes in at 23:55.

@@MagnetarYTI found one at around 2:44:00. I'll let you know when I find more when I'm not at work, like I previously said.
I have heard them a couple times, but it not long .I thought it was part of the story

The Thunderchild is my favorite part of the book.
Chowb-ham, still laughing. (Cob ham).
