I think one of the absolute best things about your lessons is the fact that you basically ALWAYS begin your videos by playing what you are about to teach! That allows the more advanced players to go ahead and start learning visually and auditorily without having to hear somebody blabber on for 5 or so minutes only to realize that the lesson is crap!! Other teachers should take note of this and start out the same way!! Best guitar instructor on the net BY FAR!!

Thanks Marty for being a great teacher, also I love your connected blues pentatonic pattern and love to throw it into my soloing.

John, I also thought at 65 if this was doable, the passion I have in my heart to say words to a love drives me. Marty has open all of us up to what we have in-side of us. 6 good months in to playing and watching Marty's videos I own 2 acoustics and 1 electric guitar and a nice amp. To your replies, my brother was a mad man on the drums, I never thought I has any music in me. A combination of love, passion, Marty and practice, what a cocktail. This video was a huge eye opener for me. The E minor pentatonic reminds me of a good $75 bottle of single malt scotch. It’s accessible, affordable, and why choose a $200 bottle when the right $75 bottle is already a work of art. Thank you, Marty. Can’t wait to go practice this scale with a jam track.

I watched several of your videos without having a guitar. I simply paid attention to your excellent explanations and I went out and bought a Martin DSS-15M and started playing E minor pentatonic scales right away. Within two days, I had several songs down and am really enjoying my new guitar. In all fairness, I play classical piano, but have never attempted playing anything other than 250 year old music. Thanks for producing these great videos.

I love how you just break into the song or jam during lesson. I had to leave my guitar behind when I was moving out from England and I've got myself a new one after almost two years of break. I learned from you back then and now I'm revisiting to get back into it. The moment you just burst into playing Moby Dick I was like "I WANT TO LEARN THIS RIFF". And by looking at your fingers I kinda did. Need to solve the awesome bridge in this song yet but I love how everything is coming back to me and that along the way I learned new lick thanks to you. I owe you rebirth of my passion man :)

So, I played bass in blues bands back in the day, I stopped playing 30 years ago. I bought my grandson a guitar a couple of years ago and tried to teach him blues progressions. Needless to say it didn't end well.. he never got it right. He got mad and didn't talk to me for about a year. Well, he shows up for my birthday and hands me a SRV Fender Stratocaster and says "let's see what you got, old man" lol. Here I am 72 years old and learning how to play the guitar. Blues lead guitar taught by Marty is right on! He's the only guy I have found on youtube worth recomending. The Blues guitar starts in the key of 'E' & Marty is the only guy teaching it right. It Starts in 'E' then you drift into other keys as get on but I have never heard a blues song in the key of 'A'. These guys teaching to play blues lead in the key of 'A' are steering kids in the wrong direction. Forget about 'A' it's for Rock. Park yourself in 'E' for a while then follow Marty's steering, he will head you in the right direction.

The Mustang GT 40 will be following me home soon, and will be snagging the pedal, too. At what point do you suggest adding the blue notes to the pentatonic scale? Or practicing soloing with blues notes? My scale work is very rudimentary and mechanical sounding, can't seem to turn notes into licks. Please help.
