As a teenager, when I got old enough that I seemed more focused on video games and other things, my mother decided that my HUGE GI Joe collection would be better served donated to poorer kids who lived in our town and I found out about it only when I came home to find a room with empty shelves. GI Joe HQ gone. MCC gone. Terror Drome gone. Rolling Thunder, Thunderclap, skystrikers, conquest x30's, X19's, a half dozen HISS tanks, over a dozen VAMPS, tactical platform, Bugs, 3x dragonflies, 2x mambas, 4x FANGs, a rattler and a night raven.....54 Joe figures and 124 cobra figures...plus a bunch of random parts and broken vehicles I got from yard sales and used for scenery/props for my battlegrounds.....GONE, ALL GONE. Still haunts me to this day. But hey, what are you gonna tell your mother who bought all of that stuff to begin with, DON'T donate it to needy families in town cause I want to be a collector? I would have felt like the biggest jerk if I had. Maybe my mistake was hiding the fact that I was still playing with action figures at that age, and trying to be "cool" and "adult" came to bite me in the ass. Oh well, at least I got your guys' videos for those trips down memory lane.
Bro, I don't know what to say. That is an absolutely gut-wrenching story. Super impressed that you didn't lose it with your mom; I'm not sure I'd be able to do the same. We'll keep doing what we can to bring the nostalgia bro.
GI Joburg I wouldn’t go through the list of vehicles and file cards that were given away. It’ll ruin your week! I’ve got all my figures though. I’ll replace those vehicles one day. Just keep on doing what you do!
this is one of the funnest things I have seen in my adult life , those were my guys , those were the adventures I had with them in the yard and the dirt field across the street from our house in the early 80's , but i also had Tron, Chewbaaca , Indiana Jones and a Glow in the dark Frankenstein Remco in our platoon.. the 80's were a hell of a time to be a kid .. thanks for this..
Such a necessary toy for the Joe team. And it Looks so great! If only I didn't have to cheat it's dimensions to get the HQ to fit... but I'm sure no one minded!
This is how I played with my Joes when no one was looking!!! I would create stories and dialogue and campaigns and then play them out. My favorite was a zipline that I made with string and I would send the Joes into a cobra base like a seal team.

Sent all these vids to my sister, we played so much and created like no other kids did. Cardboard boxes from TV's( turned inside out), made for super cammand centers. We kept everyone one great shape and all the little guns, leashes, grenades, .. so happy we did that today.

That pan away from the HQ and up the hill, leading to the appearance of Cobras and the intimidating music at about 6:20, was really effective. I actually felt a little "uh-oh" in my spine there. Nicely done.
GI Joburg I'm guessing a lot of on the spot plot revisions as well, since when playing, new ideas constantly pop up for what to happen next. :) YOOOO JOOOOOEEE!
I can already see in a couple of years: cgi and practical effects, high quality soundtrack, and all-around awesome gi joe episodes! Keep up the awesome work!!

But I fear that horse got flogged shortly after the Pursuit of Cobra and 30th Anniversary toylines. Nah, with no budget we'll still be shooting with mobile phones and our hands in the shot. Totally! We were weened on the works of Hama; Sunbow gave us the signature sound and a little bit of spice when it came to characters like Shipwreck. We promise Airtight will get up to some actual practical jokes next time!

I’m ashamed to admit that I dropped my Ranger contract during my medic training but kept the Airborne School training. One of my greatest regrets is never going back to Ranger School. Stalker is the man. Quickly became the must-have figure of my youth. I’m still not much of an Alpine fan but that is a helluva good figure and accessories!
@@gijoburg I fell in love with alpine thru the sunbow 80s cartoons. I loved the alpine voice actor and I loved his comedic friendship with bazooka. Hopefully you all would do a show displaying the friendship that alpine and bazooka has. The only other joe friendships that rivaled theirs was the friendship between leatherneck and wet suit another fun comedic relationship that kept me tuned in.
This is so good. You have the characters down. I really wish I had a C-130 when I was a kid. The black .50 cal looks so much better. I always hated when the guns were some weird color.

Thank you very much! Regarding the A-10, we needed a Cobra air strike but wanted to keep the toys pre-86. We don't have the original Rattler! What a colossal oversight. But we figured Cobra stickers on a Joe jet would flip it back. Maybe that's something Wild Weasel gets a kick out of- stealing his plane back.
I myself wouldnt see it as a stolen Rattler stolen back (come to think of it a lot of thieves in Gi-Joe lol) but as an alternate paint scheme since they are meant to fly so low and strafe ground targets. The Cobra decals look great mixed with the appropriate A-10 decals. I regrettably passed on the A-10 when it was at retail, I got my Rattler at my friendly local comic store for 8 bucks in 96 and the A-10 I believe was 20 bucks at Toys r Us a little over a year or so later lol those were the days
Daaaaamn. Those were the days. I'm sure it will be pretty pricey, but I'll be on the lookout for a Rattler at JoeCon. And yep, I totally buy the realistic camo explanation. But when did Cobra ever give a damn about realistic camo? Ha ha ha!

Thank you very much! Regarding the A-10, we needed a Cobra air strike but wanted to keep the toys pre-86. We don't have the original Rattler! What a colossal oversight. But we figured Cobra stickers on a Joe jet would flip it back. Maybe that's something Wild Weasel gets a kick out of- stealing his plane back.
I myself wouldnt see it as a stolen Rattler stolen back (come to think of it a lot of thieves in Gi-Joe lol) but as an alternate paint scheme since they are meant to fly so low and strafe ground targets. The Cobra decals look great mixed with the appropriate A-10 decals. I regrettably passed on the A-10 when it was at retail, I got my Rattler at my friendly local comic store for 8 bucks in 96 and the A-10 I believe was 20 bucks at Toys r Us a little over a year or so later lol those were the days
Daaaaamn. Those were the days. I'm sure it will be pretty pricey, but I'll be on the lookout for a Rattler at JoeCon. And yep, I totally buy the realistic camo explanation. But when did Cobra ever give a damn about realistic camo? Ha ha ha!

There’s about 3hrs worth of these on here produced by GI Joburg; probably a further 3hrs worth from our various contributors (the playlist is called “GI JOBURG SPECIAL FORCES”). As for currently producing new ones, I’ve relocated halfway across the globe and had to leave my collection behind. Perhaps I can resume when the pandemic subsides and I can go home for a spell.
