"This is an 'organ joke'. Nothing more and nothing less. In a lively discussion on FB, at one point someone said: "what if Sietze de Vries played the reopening of the Notre Dame organ?" That comment made me laugh and got me thinking: how would that look like? Can i visually/auditory display that, with an humorous, musical wink?
But for the record: of course, during the reopening of the Notre Dame, there is nothing more appropriate and fitting than the playing of the titular organists of the Notre Dame. They continue the rich French musical tradition that is going on there for centuries, with romantic/modern improvisations on Gregorian chants etc; in the footsteps of the great French organ composers and organist such as Vierne, Widor, Durufle and Cochereau. So i hope you don't take this video too serieus and just enjoy the musical, humorous wink."
