Great solution for AP are sand timers! I got one in Space Hulk, where space marine player have only 2 minutes to end their turn and now I'm using in almost all games :D
Stan is well known around here as he brings his prototypes to the Protospiel in Franklin we have once a month, although it's been mostly cancelled over the pandemic till recently. He's helped me with my main design too, although still on the hunt for a publisher!
This feels like and instant back for me. Love all of Stan's work and this will be no exception. Feels like a nice step up in Strategy from some of the lighter games. Looking forward to this one.
Love your content, quick piece of feedback. I don't know what resurgence is. Maybe in the future a quick theme explanation ? I mean KS was provided so not a huge deal
Other than Quacks, I haven't been able to find a bag builder that speaks to me. Mike at Dice Tower mentioned Resurgence and thankfully you have thorough coverage of it. I enjoyed the playthrough video and luckily I was able to late pledge last night. This one flew completely under my radar and judging by its funding, I'd say I'm not the only one who missed it.
How would you rank Endless Winter, Rurik, and Resurgence? I miss your rating scale, and the old format, I know it’s similar but having what others may not like was helpful.
The ratings may well come back :) This is still below those, both EW and Rurik are 5's, Resurgence is a strong 4. I can see it growing but not certain if it hits a 5. It's my third favorite game from him.
Oh nooooo! Don't you realize I'm trying to get through this month without backing any games! I was really only pulled in by 2 -- Resurgence and Hegemony -- and figured I would be able to get past those. Still think I will pass on Hegemony but now will have to give Resurgence a longer look...
Hey, was just wondering why you stopped giving the ratings out of 5? I really used that to determine my interest in learning more about/getting the game
Honestly speaking looking the gameplay is not reinventing the wheel... Look a classical WP boardgames with a survivor themed. I'm not pulled in plus i don't think will give a difference experience of what I already have... I will check the campaign but looks like a Heated up soup
14:16 I didn't realize at first that this statement was said ironically because it's actually completely true. The non-variable starting position introduces problems which is why Chess960 is superior. The second reason why Chess sucks is the huge of number of draws at high level. There are solutions to these problems but people will not adopt them. Chess is about tradition. It's a conservative game.
I would like to say that this is a great game. I also praise the game for its carbon footprint. Great design, wood, cardboard, and paper. All you need.
Stan is a proven designer, so it's a easy back for me. I just hope launching on a Wednesday doesn't hurt the campaign and they did enough buzz building. Too many good games have had weak campaign starts and had to cancel.
Hm. Very interesting game, your review made it look a lot more appealing than I originally thought. Stan does a lot of good games and this really seems neater still!
@@BoardGameCo Mmm... It doesn't contradict my questions. Reviews, as long as they are honest, are terrific. Your experience, opinion, and taste are all indications which help people to form an opinion about a game without playing it. So... that is a wonderful concept. (As long as they are sterilic of any kind of competitions which compares "which is better, why, and how")
Wonder why this game is struggling on KS right now, it seems like a cool game with designer pedigree and a fair price. A lot of people are talking about VAT in the comments but I don't know why anyone is surprised by that anymore.
I love Rurik ... I want to want to pledge this game but as professional artist .. I loathe single art choice in this game .. its like someone through-up on the table after a carnival.

Yep, they can be great but can also come at a cost. It depends on the group

Time to get the sand timers out! Looking forward to this one for sure.

Just got my copy this morning. Can't wait to dive in.

Thanks! Noted :)
Agreed with this, would love it in the beginning
Agree Alex. Opening was just a bit confusing.

@@BoardGameCo Thanks Alex. I appreciate the response. It’s helpful for my backing decision
Thanks for the preview, Alex. I’m really looking forward to this one.
Glad you enjoyed :-)

This one is really solid :)
I see myself here. 🤣
Hey, was just wondering why you stopped giving the ratings out of 5? I really used that to determine my interest in learning more about/getting the game
It's a temporary thing :) Video coming this week on it.
This looks cool thanks for the review.
I did t know about this game.
It's solid :)
This game was not on my radar. Thanks for the heads-up!
Anytime :)
I'm really excited for this one!! Will be an instant back for me.
It's amazing, another great design from Stan
The game sounds really unique. I will keep an eye on it.
It's worth paying attention to for sure :)
Hi Alex,
Thank you for the Review.
Is this game 5\5 for you?
Resurgence is a strong 4. I can see it growing but not certain if it hits a 5. It's my third favorite game from him.
This game looks fantastic! Might be my first back since this summer :)
It really is excellent.
What can I sell this for, if I end up not liking it?

I think it's different not in any individual mechanic, but in the combination of them.
@@BoardGameCo mmm 🤔 i will dig more... Thanks

I guess you never played chess

Yeah, when I first saw it I wasn't pulled in. But the designer is why I was paying attention.
Great review, although..
Not a single word about expansions..?
The lack of them...
The longevity of this game without them..?
Why would you care? Everything in life is just a matter of an individual experience, opinion and taste. What I say shouldn't be a factor.

The art is ok, but the colors on the board hurt my eyes.
( colorblind 😔 )
Ah, I hear that.
TBH, I'm not colorblind and I still don't like the art style
When you were giving the overview I was waiting for some surprise twist or neat unexpected elements. It’s a little too simple and derivative for me.
Oh man, wait until you play it :)
I love Rurik ... I want to want to pledge this game but as professional artist .. I loathe single art choice in this game .. its like someone through-up on the table after a carnival.
The person that said that about Chess, hasn't play much Chess.
Lol the person was making a joke about the constant demand for variable stuff in games
@@BoardGameCo Oh ok lol
A bit late to the party but how is the solo?
Is the solo at least won't be vp based? I truly hate vp based games 😉
Sadly we didn't have solo rules at the time.
@@BoardGameCo oh got it
And now we have no?
i dont like this video. not very healthy for my wallet T.T
Lol fair :)
