- WE ARE BACK! After a long stall on the car due to life obsticals we get back on Tweedy Pie! In this long episdoe we catch you up with Piero, who spent the last 3 months focusing on getiting parts primed for paint, metal finishing pieces for chrome, assembleing and painting the 1957 283 Small Block Chevy and adding some freshly polished speed parts!
This episode was a nice Christmas present, as wondering how you'd been getting along. All looking good so far, look forward to the next update.
Thanks! Getting there :)
The stars have aligned. New episodes from you and This Old Hot Rod. What more can a car guy ask for Christmas? There is a Santa!
Ha! Thanks!
You make sanding look so fun! I’ve been sanding on my 32 all week, and it sucks! But after watching this, I’m all excited to sand again tomorrow.
Sanding your car is cool!
You know after staring at a computer for the past 9 months.. Sanding is not as bad.. now if I had to do it as a full time job?? No thanks!! Haha I saw you sanding on the dash and thought I know what he’s going trough haha By the way I like your tee shirt on the last episode 👌🏼😂✌🏼👊🏼
So Happy to see the updates on this project. Hope to see Lucky in the mix on the next chapter.
Tiny little gussets on sides for those tiny little ears on the rear bones would do wonders on longevity. Maybe even a piece of tube with a nylon spacer, capped with a chrome washer and a dome nut/bolt. The original one was a show piece, this I assume is going to get driven. So some modifications around overall safety has to be made. Easy fix now when all the parts are still on the table. If you leave the fix on the side of the road, it's not going to be that easy.
Great job! Also, good to always see Joe's truck (thanks Harrison!)
Thanks.. yeah I’m glad Harrison has the truck nice to always see it :)
Sorry we could'nt all be there to help you spin the engine over on the stand but we were all grunting with you in spirit, well done on getting a lot done on tweedie looking forward to the next update, we all have other things in life to deal with which makes messing with cars Fun when we get the chance. cheers John
Ha! Thanks
My god!!! What an update!!!! That engine thou!!!!!
Going to be super neat...... Good to see you back 👍👍
Motor stands are like bumblebees. They shouldn't support their weight, yet they do! That's a lot of work my dude!
Right? Haha thanks man!
I am just glad I haven't been missing this.... like I thought I was.
Been waiting.......thanks for getting back.
Thanks for your patience :)
So much work using and cleaning up the old parts vs new street rod stuff but it makes it so awesome good for you getting it done!
man, that engine looks the balls! interested in seeing if you can scare up a white radiator hose!
thanks for the treat man and happy new year!
I think they might of just painted it.. I might just run a regular one..
Very nice progress on Tweedy Pie! Looks like the road is getting shorter and shorter for the finish line!! I noticed the rubber gaskets at the ends of the intake manifold vs. just a tall bead of silicone, comments may be mean, and haters may hate, you do it your way and it will be great!!
That’s what came with the kit 🤷🏻♂️ haha
Looking great! Love the progress! Thanks for sharing!
PART 17... ADVENTURES IN SANDING!!!! Hahhahahahaa!
Seriously, man, you are knocking it out of the park, 'cause this is where always stall on my stuff.
Oh, and ya, just so you know, the second I hit "send", The 'Bucket of Ugly quietly called to me from under it's cover outside the bedroom window... "Finish Me......" And, not the weak, put-a-bullet-in-my-brain type of finish me, but the "get yo ass out here and work, you're so damned close" kinda finish me! Thanks for that!!!
Haha you had me cracking up .. my Bucket of ugly calls me every day too..
When you set up an engine on an engine stand, do not set up the pivot for the stand with the center line of the crankshaft. The stand pivot point needs to be well above the crank center line. The top of the engine has more mass than the bottom. I think you know that now.
Yeah I figured that out hahah I’m actually going to get it off the stand and put it on a roller stand..
Such a gorgeous car...really is spot on!!!!
Gday lads great to see you back. It’s been way to long
How’s it going lucky love your shop The bucket is looking great 👍👍
Very cool!! 👍👍
Great update, lots and lots of work done. Looking forward to more!!
This was awesome! Was waiting for an update and loved every bit of this! Snare stand wheel holder? I'm in sanding/priming/paint prep hell on my '46 Business Coupe, feel your pain. So, I've been buying back issues of Hop Up (late to the table) and me thinks I spotted you and Bob Bleed together in a shot! Had to share with my wife who replied, "You sound like a Fan Boy honey." To which I replied, "I am not ashamed to say I am!" Go Piero, and Lucky, and all the West Coast Rodders, keep moving forward! Can't wait to see what's coming next!
Haha drum stool :) thanks for being our number 1 fan boy 😂🤓 we do appreciate it 👊🏼✌🏼
Been waiting on this new episode for awhile
Going to be amazingly cool. Total respect for your dedication to the nostalgia.
Thanks! I do my best ✌🏼👊🏼
Good to see you guys back, life certainly gets in the way of building Hotrods but it is what it is. Well worth the wait and look forward to seeing the next update. Happy New Year to you all from the UK.
Yeah that’s how it goes some times!! Thanks Mate same to you!
Awesome episode, been waiting patiently for an updated. Its looking AMAZING.
All chrome and shiny! Nice!
Oh yeah!
Looks great Piero! ❤
I love sanding backing plates😂
😂😂
So glad to see the nitty gritty of blowing the car apart and giving it the love. This is a great motivator for me to get my ass back out in the shop!
Thanks and glad to be of service :)
Amazing progress! You'll be driving your bucket before you know it!
That's the plan! Thanks

Or I’ll have Clive from stromberg help me out haha via Zoom 😂
It's going to look so pretty.
Very excited to see it done. This project inspired my 63 Rambler Roadster project.

Lots of work accomplished for sure. that engine is looking great. You accomplished a lot of tedious work.
Thanks 👍 it sure was but very enjoyable!
Was wondering whirr you were. Looks like a dream already. Best wishes!
Thanks!
That motor looks killer
Thanks!
Awesome video
looking good only thing i hate is that rubber fuel line set up i made proper steel fuel pipes on my twin X2 carb set up here in aust they prefer you use solid lines over rubber less chance of leaking and fires
Great video work, thanks for sharing! You guys give me motivation to get started on my hot rod
Hell yeah!! Glad to of service :)
Its been a while, its been for ever ! Please get with it ! Thank you.
I’m trying to “Get with it” but you know things like income and Time sometimes won’t allow me to “Get with it” .. :)
Cool. Glad to see more on this. Can you provide your chrome shops website?Website? Getting chrome done in Ohio is a pain. Got back to my car after 23 yrs. Thanks to you guys
They don’t have a web site.. it’s a small place in Downtown LA. Called Yolanda’s Plating
I was beginning to think I had missed a episode
But no your life is like all of ours, busy
Really enjoyed it, thank you
Yeah man 100% just do the best we can with time, money and priorities.. thanks for the support
GREAT way to end the year! 🖤💯👍
Yes it was!
Whew! That’s a lot of work, friend. It all sure looks great. So inspiring. I’m determined to get back to work on my projects! Thank you!
Thanks! Yeah it’s tough to get back in but once you do
It feels good to get stuff done!
Awesome job buddy
Thanks 👍
Great car, great vids, keep them coming 😎
Thanks, will do!
Nice work Piero! Thanks for another great video!
My pleasure!
Really enjoyed the update! Your dream is getting closer to reality. Cheers from Iowa
Thanks! Yes much closer.. can’t wait to be done!
Awesome update, 2024 the year of Tweedy Pie.
100% 👊🏼🤓
Best episode
The problem with polished parts is they start to oxidize almost right away unless you clear coat them. You`ll be constantly be re-polishing them unless you clear coat them. Ask me how i know.
Yeah that’s the plan anyways.. is to let it dull a bit.. if you look at any pics of the Bob Johnston version it’s all dull.. clear coat just peels and turns yellow - Ask me how I know hahah
Lots of work but it’s paying off, the colour against the polish/chrome is class. Looking forward for more in the new year 👍👍
Thanks yeah I love that color! 👌🏼
So rad!!!
Stoked to see this thing finished ! Curious though, what kind of weenie can't flip a motor on an engine stand ?
This kind 🖕🏼😂
LMAO !
WE NEED MORE!!!
It’s coming soon!! We are currently filming and editing :)
@@MADFABRICATORSTV awesome! I’ve been watching the whole build man. Start to finish every video. Good stuff.
Happy to get an update, thanks 👍
Our pleasure! 🤙🏽
Inspiring, nice work.
Thank you!
New subscriber , I'm loving it 👍
Thanks for subscribing! And welcome! Plenty to watch 🤙🏽👊🏼
What a way to start my New Year’s eve! What an amazing episode, i’m learning tons, your attention to detail is off the rails, i love the way you describe everything, teaching while building and restoring so even for a rookie like me gets it! Love your support cast too, Cheers to you Piero, Tweedy Pie is amazing and Happy New Year to you and your crew!!✌🏾
Happy new year! Thanks buddy! We will be rolling soon!
Motor looks sweet.
Thanks!
Sunday morning New Year’s Eve. I get to watch lg speed. Then you come on next! What a a way to end a shitty 2023. It’s been a really tuff yaar. Won’t be long now we can start a new. Piero I would like to wish you and your family lucky and his family all your friends and subscribers a happy and prosperous new year. Will you make the big show in February? Cheers from England.
Happy New Year to you!! And thanks for the support.. as for GNRS I won’t be making it.. mostly time and money haha are holding me down as usual 😂
I get that. I’m on my 5th job since 2019. Lost Severn months work as well in that period of time. Take care you will get there.
Shits getting real! That thing rules!
For real!
So it does rain in southern California! The sound had it all wrong!LOL!
Make sure you use slip plate on those leaf springs when they go back together. Don’t use petroleum based lubes.
really looking good!
So excited
So damn cool. I need to get back on my Trpu.
Oh yess!
Awesome
So stoked to see another episode
I noticed something when you put the intake on. You didn’t put an oil separator canister in the lifter valley for the road draught tube. Without it the road draught tube will puke oil all over the ground and bottom of the car.
There was none in the lifter valley. I don’t think the 57-59 283 has it 🤷🏻♂️. Nothing was removed from the valley.. just the pushrods and lifters
More please. 😂
noticed you put your gaskets on dry... do you ever use any gasket seal? Motor is beautiful.. very nice work..
Not dry there’s sealer on it.
Hard for me to relate. Six new Stromberg$, mega chrome to come but rattle can paint?
Just some primer for parts.. and engine but chassis and body will get proper primer and all parts and body will be shot with real auto paint and by an actual painter.. I mean come on you think I’d spray paint it all?
Also that engine paint is a high quality custom mixed to match spray paint.. it just comes in a can.. is that ok? Or what will happen? Just wondering?
You should work on a piece of carpet ,metal bench will ding your polish work
Thanks.. it’s a wood bench and I had a thick towel under it. 👌🏼
looks really sharp where did you get your linkage from.
Stromberg has the best linkage for what ever set up you need! I’m working on getting that all dialed as we speak ✌🏼👊🏼
@@MADFABRICATORSTV Excellent i enjoy your videos keep up the good work.
Is that motor a 283 or a 327? I see it has 283 powerpac heads but so does my 327 . Have they ever mentioned what the engine is?
It’s a 57 283 Corvette motor :) there’s an episode a while back when I got it and what it is.. ✌🏼
motor looks bitchin dude ...... keep up the good work ....... your smashing it 👊👊
Thanks brother
Binge-watching all the Car that ate my brain 2; Tweedy Bird videos, but I know that Piero had a heart attack in March 2024... feels kind of weird watching, when Piero is exerting himself...I want to yell like we did at the movies when we were kids when the villain was behind the good guy: "Look out behind you!!"
Haha thanks for watching and yeah the villian was defiantly behing me.. Probably for years! feeling so much better now and should be back to it next week.. well filming at least i'll have to let Lucky do the heavy lifting... :D
@@MADFABRICATORSTV probably feeling better than you have for a long time, those blockages didn't happen overnight and now you got some decent blood flow... very glad to hear! Looking forward to good stuff to come.
Where can i get the first "car that ate my brain"? Being in the UK cannot watch on Amazon, cannot find the DVD any where
So it’s on Tubi.com for free not sure if you can get that in UK.
@@MADFABRICATORSTV Unfortunately not, Not available in my area. Don't understand why there is regional locks. A&E does the same on TH-cam also for certain things.
Killer! Carbs need polished....😊
On a different car they would be chromed haha but fortunately for my wallet they were plain stock on the real car.. gotta keep it same :)
🥳🎉🥳🎉🥳
