RE: Hidden Cup 5. I think a lot of people would tune in for it (easily the 10k figure he's tentatively suggested if he advertises it loads on youtube, reddit and aoezone). I think basically what he's saying is that the players just aren't in the right mindset for it... with Hera going to play LoL (which I fully support) and Lierreyy and others jumping on AoE4 for a bit, presumably to get a slice of the big prizepool pies coming up, hosting one of the "grand slams" of AoE2 right now is just not right I guess. I think that is a valid assessment and as much as it pains me to say I think it is actually in the best interests of AoE2 long term to postpone the big tournaments like HC5 & NAC4 till later, when there is a massive appetite from both players and viewers for them. Right now we have a bit of a split community. I just can't get that picture out of my head of Viper, Daut, MbL, Lierreyy, etc. all standing illuminated by lights against the stone walls of Heidelberg Castle in the night sky, having just put on the most amazing event I had ever seen in any sport/esport, with AoE4 just a looming shadow in the future and no hint of people switching to facebook or anything. Things have changed alot in the last 6 months or so. As usual, amazing interview Masmorra and thank you so much for these interviews - you really are brilliant at making your guest feel comfortable to talk about their true feelings I think. Hopefully the big tourneys will return in 2023
T90 definitely knows how to gauge the interest of the community. These events come together from mutual interest of players and community, so we should give it that time instead of trying to force it onto a seasonal schedule. Eagerly looking forward to whenever HC5 DOES com around, though :D
N4C would have been left in mud if it had to compete with KoTD or HC with even 75% of N4C's prizepool. MS had to choke the prize pool of AoE2 to give AoE4 any chance. It is a lie that AoE2 won't do great right now because AoE4 is having these big tournaments. It is the opposite. People are playing AoE4 because the money is in AoE4 and also the money is being taken out from AoE2. If RB organised a LAN RBW with 100k$ prizepool at the same time as N4C, Nili would have been too embarrassed to host any AoE4 tournament in next 2 years. And don't come up with bs like AoE2 and AoE4 can coexist. They cannot when MS gives back to back 100k$ prizepool for AoE4 and WWC gets 25k$.
Yeah, miss the amazing moment we had with all the great personalities we know and love, on twitch, and on AoE2 with such amazing events. It was a good time :)
Coming from the AoE4 experience with Reliq, listen to T90 talk about behind the scenes with this level of honesty feels so good. Is another ball park completely.
Once again a fantastic interview, I love that you don't shy from the tough questions. It felt great hearing T90 go so in depth about all these topics, very good to hear his honest perspective and I'm glad he stills keeps his passion for Aoe2 strong. For what it's worth I agree, the game may have reached a peak, but die? Hell no, it's like chess, beautiful and timeless!
I 100% respect T90 way more than I did before, (kinda just saw him as a caster before), and similarly share all of his frustrations with AoE4. So happy to hear someone voicing these concerns and frustrations, the game really just isn't what it should've been.
Very interesting interview. I fully understand T90s decision to move to another place, it just bugged me that it's Facebook. Not particularly because it's Facebook and seems like a dying platform but because the UI is so horrendous. I tried watching Viper and T90 but it's just so uncomfortable. And now learning that TH-cam was an alternative hurts even more, I would've loved to see him stream here, TH-cam just works best on all my devices. Let's see where this goes, it's always a pleasure hearing T90 and the constant TH-cam content is awesome.
well, maybe it is. But the biggest advantage is that you can rewind the live stream any moment. I often want to rewatch something, or I missed something and you can do that. Once you're ready, you can go to live again. No idea why Twitch doesn't allow it. Also, Twitch reruns sucks so much. Why can't they be 1080p? (aka the same as stream). Those 720p hurts my eyes. Not saying Facbook is better, but that Twitch is lacking a lot as well and also in the core functionality, not in the fancy stuff.
I have two contributions: 1. I want to give a perspective of a late 20something age2 nerd, to explain what I feel is our "community". My main love is watching a mix of entertainment-focused games and some high level. I think that is why the viper is such a great entertainer, because he does both. Strangely enough, my second love is playing. And playing for me means a nice mix of players across a nice mix of maps without queuing too long because I can only really get a handful of games played per week. Finally I watch streams about one or twice a month, not usually in an active way. So T90's Facebook move didn't massively impact me. In another hot take, I personally see aoe4 content as a slight tonic to the aoe2 content. I enjoy watching the occasional aoe2 deathmatch tournament, I enjoy the occasional aoe4 tournament but my main love is still the aoe2 tournament. 2. Second thought about tournaments, I think we are currently missing a decent 3v3 or 4v4 tournament. I suspect they aren't being organised because there wouldn't be a competitive result, but I grew to love this community around the time of Tyrant, SY, Suomi and I wish we had that big stage of team game knockout tournaments again
To your 2nd point, the next 2 S-Tier tournaments for Age of Empires 2 will be TG tournaments! Rage Forest in April (4v4) and Battle of Africa 3 in June (probably 3v3)!
glad to hear T90 atleast spoke to youtube, as a youtube premium subscriber, I would of preferred all of T90 to go there, i would watch a whole lot more of his content if it was all here, but unfortunately TH-cam made a bad choice , and thats on them not T90. Will continue to watc all of his LowElo legends uploads but i am sad i dont get to see his whole Tuesday low elo streams, but i just cant deal with the Facebook ads and UI
It is time! I haven't honestly watched it yet, but I'm really looking forward to this because you have a wonderful interview style, and T90 is such a stand-up guy
Things that surprised me: a) t90 just announced he was leaving and left. normally he is great at hyping things up and advertising over a period, im shocked he didnt take a couple of weeks to tell everyone on stream every 20 mins he was going to facebook b) there hasn't (yet) been an explicitly facebook sponsored tourney (though im sure some of t90's money from facebook went into WWC and RR for example). t90 is very passionate about the community and clearly sees the importance of big tourneys and facebook want to get their name out and bring people to the platform. seems to me like a big tourney sponsored by them would meet both sides aims, especially if it had some element like winners interviews or whatever that was exclusive to t90's facebook stream (im sure t90 wouldnt let the whole thing be exclusive)
Man, I love your interviews. As someone who played AOE2 as a kid when it came out but got into the online part of it with DE and got to know the competitive scene recently, I really enjoy these. Getting to know the history of this game, getting to know the people who made possible that the game is where it is now and seeing the relationship between you all is priceless :) I also love the way you interview. You are thorough and don't hesitate to ask uncomfortable questions if needed, but all of it is clearly made with kindness and love for those who you interview. Really appreciate and enjoy your work. Obrigado!
Great interview as usual Masmorra! One thing that always comes to my mind when I see T90: How is it that after years of successful streaming, he is still using the same old pair of cheap clip-on headphones? How are they still working and why isn't he just buying a decent pair? Maybe consider asking hard hitting questions like this in your next interview with him.
Love the interview as always! If someone completely unaware of the AOE2 scene or who T90 is were to listen to this interview I'm sure even they would completely understand the passion and love T90 has for this game and this community. It is such an honour to have gifts like you and T90 in our community. We have indeed come a long way from the voobly days, and hopefully there's much more better things to come for AOE2. Thanks again.
Really nice to watch this 6 months after, having just finished the first T90 Titans League. Amazing to see the game, and T90 is such a good place, and getting stronger still. Huge props to him and his commitment to the game!
Thanks for your interviews, I really enjoyed them. I also used to listen to the other ones (dave&bulletchen, Guanfranco) but you are by far my favorite host. Keep them coming!
Very good interview, Love how you spoke @t90 and Frist time on your channel Nelson. You are a great host and very good listener as a host asking great questions -AKA(InvincibleGunner)
i really appreciated T90s message at the end, as his move did feel a little distancing. After watching him and supporting the age of empires 2 community as a whole for the last 4 years, everything did seem to be kinda falling apart, and like hidden cup 4 was the peak of it all possibly forever. However I see that the dust is all starting to settle, players and streamers are starting to get back into their groove, and I see a lot of good coming to the community. This community has only started climbing it's mountain of accomplishments and I can't wait to see where we end up.
Nili said "maybe" for NAC in 2023? What a joker. I see what T90 means with hunger not being there for HC5. But then again I also feel it could potentially be massive for the game. I know I would even tune in to Facebook to watch it.
So finally watching this more than half a year later, back when t90 and viper moved, of course one's initial response is, wtf and do they not care about us viewers, but knowing t90 I immediately knew there were genuine reasons and it would be the best for him. And this is owed to the fact that he talks so openly and also to you Masmorra, for bringing this type of videos to us!!! Thank you!!
I can't believe T90 couldn't even get a response from Twitch. He should have put them on blast on Twitter and someone might have come with a counter offer. If you're leaving the platform anyway what do you have to lose
Neilson Great interview. Yes, T90 is the best caster at storytelling & getting people to buy into/ have a vested interest on the game, match or whatever. I would be so emotional also with all that Twitch did or didn't do.
What an awesome interview! T90 should break the youtube algorithm by making a "Legend Nothing" game where 8 of the legends from his youtube channel battle it out!
Awesome interview and such a wholesome content and conversation is (I believe) the proof this community is going nowhere anytime soon. Thank you both!!
Fantastic podcast, open and fair discussion on all of the most pressing topics regarding the game we love. Nili being an AoE2 pro, a content creator and a pro-team member, accepting the job from Microsoft, it is hard to see how he did not see the conflict of interest in it. No matter how much he tries and I believe he does try, he can not stay neutral and impartial between the two games and communities. It is impossible, Microsoft would not allow it. Microsoft does not love Age 2 or 3 or 4, they just love the money they are making from the games. So it makes sense that Nili would be pushed to take sides and as long as he works for Microsoft he has to, they are his paymasters. I am disappointed that after all that he has done for the game in all these years, he did not see this.
I did prefer twitch, the video quality was more stable, and you could watch videos at 1080p even after the livestream had ended. But if FB gaming allows him to stream the game for longer, it looks like the switch is better for viewers as well as for T90.
Hello, i don’t know if you know but Sandy Petersen is a world class video game designer who worked on age of empires 2, he did an interview on TH-cam with a channel called bored with nelly, the reason i mention this is because I reckon with your popularity and love of AOE2, he would probably do an interview with you, wouldn’t it be amazing if you did TH-cam video of you interviewing him and talking about designing the game we love
I was playing simcity and after a while it got boring and i googled "building games" and Age of Empires popped up. After 20 years i'm still here because it just never gets boring.
As a viewer of AOE4 games I found T90's analysis of the game perfect I watched many of the early games and the first tourney but it got boring really fast for the same reasons he gave. Now I don't watch AOE4 at all. AOE2 rules all.
Great interview Nelson. (Almost expected by now ;) ) While I myself am dying to see HC5 I agree with t90 and most other comments here. The timing atm just doesn't feel right. With Hera and Liereyy focussing on other things, Many Pros focussing on Age 4 and T90 being on Facebook it does feel like a wrong time to do HC5. While I do agree on that its probably bets to do HC5 when there is already a lot of attention on age 2 (Maybe by a new dlc, or new pros or whatever) I do feel we (age 2 community) have to wait a long time for that (if it ever happens again). Guess we all have to be a little bit patient :D
I mean, I started getting interested in AoE recently because of T90, which is obviously after his move to Facebook. Also, Twitch is a horrible company, I would much rather support him on TH-cam or Facebook than on Twitch.
fantastic interviews! glad to have discovered your channel! Any chances to invite such figures as BBQTurkman? or maybe illuniknight (Resonanse after return), I think he was the first aoe2 youtuber and the one who gave inspiration to Zero (if I recall this correctly).
In regards to AoE4, it seems like Microsoft is dumping more money into it to keep the game alive. All you have to do is look at the steam numbers recently to see AoE4 isn't doing very well (at least on Steam, I don't think you can see MS store player numbers). AoE2 will always been the main stay of Age of Empire game series.
Hey man thank you so much for your interest! :) My next guest has recently accepted my invitation, but we still haven't agreed on a date. It's gonna be the Business Manager at Microsoft (Worlds Edge) for the whole AoE franchise, Will McCahill! I'm incredibly excited about this one and incredibly honored he accepted the invitation!
I came back to AoE2 Because of T90 in 2018, but i stop watching him when he move to FB just because its FB i deleted mi FB account in 2019 and i don't want to create one just to whatch him and comment on his chat and thats a dealbreaker for me, i think a lot of people feel the same way
Opposite for me. I rarely go to twitch. But I’m already on Facebook and if I see T90 streaming I can catch them now. Now that’s he’s been there a few months, FB Gaming is not as good as twitch, but it’s not a deal breaker and it operates good enough. But there are definitely improvements that could be made.
It's funny that after T90's switch I stopped following twitch entirely but didn't get over to Facebook. So now I'm a pure TH-cam andy just like 3 years ago. And if TH-cam is blocked in Russia I may not even be able to follow T90 and age whatsoever.
Would be interested to know how many subscribers T90 and Viper still have on Twitch. I don't think they owe an explanation or appolgy to anyone. It's their life and they are still providing free entertainment to people if they want it. If someone gave me the chance to not worry about money for the rest of my life, without screwing anyone over I would 100% take it.
I agree with Tristan about AoE4. The game has horrible optimization and is just incomplete in general, and I just don't personally find it very fun. My only regret in the game is not being able to get a refund. AoE2 is so much better. That's why it has been a powerhouse for so long.
I asked for longer interviews and we're starting to get there, but we still need more! I can listen for hours
Up next, robo boro 3 hour interview!
@@MGFamilytree 1 most definitely!!
IDK any big name in AOE2 is more behind the curtain than Robo. 3 hour is minimum.
Now I understand more about T90 decistion on moving to FB gaming. This was a great interview nelson, keep it up man
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
So I guess we can be expecting a "Legend Nothing" series soon from T90.
I see what you did there 🤣🤣
Imagine him bringing Legends together for best of 7 tourney. It'd last a year! And I'd watch ever second of it 🙂
T90 and Memb are the heroes of AoE2.💪
weird way to spell Masmorra
Respect Nili for what he has done
Hopefully the big tourneys will return in 2023
Thank you so much for the nice words man!
T90 definitely knows how to gauge the interest of the community. These events come together from mutual interest of players and community, so we should give it that time instead of trying to force it onto a seasonal schedule.
Eagerly looking forward to whenever HC5 DOES com around, though :D

Can't really express how good of a host you are! Great questions and really making the guest do the content! Really love these Nelson, keep it up❤️
Thank you Marco!
And thanks for the great question in Episode 6 :)
Not saying Facbook is better, but that Twitch is lacking a lot as well and also in the core functionality, not in the fancy stuff.
Thank you for this interviews! Really interesting stuff!
Happy to see you here Nacho!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nachito puedes poner estas entrevistas suptituladas en tu canal porfa?
I got back into AOE2 through TH-cam. I really appreciate content like this and what T90 uploads.
I understand and respect T90 leaving Twitch more after this interview. Sad that there will be no hidden cup 5 though.
The moment I see a new interview, my day instantly gets 10 times better :D
I have two contributions:
1. I want to give a perspective of a late 20something age2 nerd, to explain what I feel is our "community". My main love is watching a mix of entertainment-focused games and some high level. I think that is why the viper is such a great entertainer, because he does both. Strangely enough, my second love is playing. Rage Forest in April (4v4) and Battle of Africa 3 in June (probably 3v3)!
Watch return to the clans. It's really great. Memb/ornlu/nova/etc. are casting the games on twitch.
Another great interview, your technique is so good for getting information out of people in the right way is fantastic. Can't wait for the next one!
Appreciate it James!

I'm a bit biased, but I'll say it was an awesome conversation 😂 hope you enjoy it!
Things that surprised me:
a) t90 just announced he was leaving and left. normally he is great at hyping things up and advertising over a period, im shocked he didnt take a couple of weeks to tell everyone on stream every 20 mins he was going to facebook

Great interview as usual Masmorra!

How are they still working and why isn't he just buying a decent pair? Maybe consider asking hard hitting questions like this in your next interview with him.
LOL
Ufff tough ones man, I don't think I have the guts to ask him that :D
Plz do Spirit of the Law next!!
That would be pretty cool.
Love T90, what a legend of the community
Love the interview as always! Really, really good to watch. You really get a sense of Tristan's perspective on the game, streaming, and life! Thx!
Thanks for your interviews, I really enjoyed them. I also used to listen to the other ones (dave&bulletchen, Guanfranco) but you are by far my favorite host.
Keep them coming!
Even though I love T90, I will never go back to Facebook. But I will definitely stay on TH-cam.
Great interview!
Really interesting especially the section regarding Twitch and I appreciate the willingness to challenge the interviewee on some discussion points!
Very good interview, Love how you spoke @t90 and Frist time on your channel Nelson. You are a great host and very good listener as a host asking great questions

Just for you hun
Can't wait for Legend Nothing! Would be the hottest video of all time

Nelson, as always, a great interview. So nice to hear you too guys talking! :)
Thank you as always Christian! :)
As much as I’m not into t90, I do respect his opinion. Good work Masmora
Keep up your great work Nelson Aka the great Voobly Admin! Wish i was still popular to be interviewed !!!
What an awesome interview! T90 should break the youtube algorithm by making a "Legend Nothing" game where 8 of the legends from his youtube channel battle it out!
The "I am not worried" made think of "I am not leaving" from Wolf of Wallstreet 11

Lovely interview as always. I wonder how many views it would get if the title was "T90Official and the Legend of Nothing"
Great interview always nice to see T90 being himself. Length great and if it is a little bit longer it will be more than welcome. :)
I did prefer twitch, the video quality was more stable, and you could watch videos at 1080p even after the livestream had ended.
But if FB gaming allows him to stream the game for longer, it looks like the switch is better for viewers as well as for T90.
Just found these interviews! Amazing content. Listened to 3 already today 🤣. Keep up the good work
Glad you like them!
I love listening to those interviews while doing Uni stuff. Keep up the great work!
Bom trabalho Ricardo!
As always, absolutely top-tier content. Thanks Nelson!
Thank you Adam!

OMG MEGA CASTER AOE2 GROUP STAGE CHARITY TOURNEY.
Come on now guys that's what we ALL want
It's been 24 years since the Age of Kings and a 75 max. population. And I still love Age of Empires II.
Age of Kings already had 200 as an option :P
@@FloosWorld_AoE Oh, I didn't remember that. Maybe I had the memory of the campaigns. Anyway, I was way too bad to play 200 pop haha
Another great interview!
I was playing simcity and after a while it got boring and i googled "building games" and Age of Empires popped up. After 20 years i'm still here because it just never gets boring.
I love this. Well done man
Thanks again for keeping the hot gossip up for us old crusty followers
One idea I suggest would be to have each person you interview to choose the next one.
tristan is slowly turning into ron swanson
Brilliant interview! Well done both!
As a viewer of AOE4 games I found T90's analysis of the game perfect I watched many of the early games and the first tourney but it got boring really fast for the same reasons he gave. Now I don't watch AOE4 at all. AOE2 rules all.
Great interview Nelson. (Almost expected by now ;) )
While I myself am dying to see HC5 I agree with t90 and most other comments here.
Thank you!
I so wanted this, thank you
Thanks for putting this together!
You bet!
Love the podcast. Thank you :)
Good interview. Now I can understand t90 move to fb better and can understand nilis decision less 😂
I like the "no bitches?" t90 face in the thumbnail.
Another Fantastic interview
wow these interviews are so gud.
I mean, I started getting interested in AoE recently because of T90, which is obviously after his move to Facebook.
Also, Twitch is a horrible company, I would much rather support him on TH-cam or Facebook than on Twitch.
Ahah, this is the first time I've seen T90 on video 😁 It's weird because the voice is very familiar to me but I don't know that guy on screen.
Let's get spirit of the law on one of these
You have impeccable timing my friend, today at 12GMT I'll be releasing an Interview with Spirit of the Law! :)
@@MasmorraAoE No way!!! I can't wait.
fantastic interviews! glad to have discovered your channel! Any chances to invite such figures as BBQTurkman? or maybe illuniknight (Resonanse after return), I think he was the first aoe2 youtuber and the one who gave inspiration to Zero (if I recall this correctly).
Well said T90!
I do have the same feelings of AOE4 bcse the game basically does microing for the player...
Excellent interview!!
In regards to AoE4, it seems like Microsoft is dumping more money into it to keep the game alive. All you have to do is look at the steam numbers recently to see AoE4 isn't doing very well (at least on Steam, I don't think you can see MS store player numbers). AoE2 will always been the main stay of Age of Empire game series.
that t90 guy seems pretty cool, might check out his content
He's allright...could use a better video editor 🤔
you should interview sandy or maybe even Bruce Shelley!
Hello Nelson! Just returning here to comment and ask when the new interview/video will be uploaded 😭. Can't wait.
Hey man thank you so much for your interest! :)
My next guest has recently accepted my invitation, but we still haven't agreed on a date.
It's gonna be the Business Manager at Microsoft (Worlds Edge) for the whole AoE franchise, Will McCahill!
I'm incredibly excited about this one and incredibly honored he accepted the invitation!
@@MasmorraAoE that's amazing! And thanks for getting back to me (:
@@ujjwalrawat5105 Love your profile picture btw! :D
Just feeding the algoritm
Do you think the algorithm has become so sophisticated though that it can now recognize and ignore comments made just to boost a video?!
@@MasmorraAoE God forbid i have to think of a original contructive comment to support an interesting content creator
😅
This motivates me to watch T90 on facebook for the first time. He definitely doesn't let anyone off the hook here.
Amazing interview
Great interview :)
Thank you! :)
I somehow imgained a totally different face from the sound of T90s voice
I came back to AoE2 Because of T90 in 2018, but i stop watching him when he move to FB just because its FB i deleted mi FB account in 2019 and i don't want to create one just to whatch him and comment on his chat and thats a dealbreaker for me, i think a lot of people feel the same way
Yeah...for sure. That's me. I still watch AoE2 as much as I ever did, but just not T90s streams.
Opposite for me. I rarely go to twitch. But I’m already on Facebook and if I see T90 streaming I can catch them now. Now that’s he’s been there a few months, FB Gaming is not as good as twitch, but it’s not a deal breaker and it operates good enough. But there are definitely improvements that could be made.
enjoyed that a lot
Great interview!
It's funny that after T90's switch I stopped following twitch entirely but didn't get over to Facebook. So now I'm a pure TH-cam andy just like 3 years ago. And if TH-cam is blocked in Russia I may not even be able to follow T90 and age whatsoever.
we need an MBL interview!
I also am 100% with t90 when it comes to the nili situation.
It hurts me so much that we get 0 aoe4 contend by t90 , but I respect him and his oppinion
I agree with Tristan about AoE4. The game has horrible optimization and is just incomplete in general, and I just don't personally find it very fun. My only regret in the game is not being able to get a refund. AoE2 is so much better. That's why it has been a powerhouse for so long.
You feel like us that it's a community of great people, for twitch, they are operating a phone line.
The easiest solution is to have Red Bull sponsor more. Why aren't they doing more?
Hello, nice talk. When is this recorded btw?
Thanks!
February 28th
@@MasmorraAoE gotcha, thx!
what is the intro and outro song? I must know
Hey the song is "Nightlife" my Michael Kobrin!
@@MasmorraAoE Thank you very much!
On a side note, I'm going to be honest, facebook gaming experience sucks compared to twitch. And they don't seem to be on a hurry to level up...
Hey Masmorra. Any chance of getting Taff back for an interview?
The last time I tried to contact him (many years ago) he didn’t get back to me at all, so I don’t know…
playerbase increased by at least 1 since cornerboi (me)
