My father used to tell this story, he used to say a slightly different version....that the army colonel went to the cinema with his wife. Some one said to him that, you have left your car headlights on. He went out to check but could not find anything. When he got back his wife complained that in your absence these people misbehaved with me.
Colonel then went to the cinema management and police, but they knew that it was Caro's son and his friends, so they did not cooperated. He then went back to his army base, put his uniform and got a battalion of soilders. They surrounded the cinema and stopped the show. After searching caught these badmash. Jawans were given order to kick them. After playing football with these gundas. Some of them became unconscious. It was ordered to take them in the army hospital and after they gained health unki phir se football banayi jai aur kicking ki jaye.
Pratap singh Caro's sons were known smugglers and everyone was scared of them, but army ne unko sahi sabak sikgaya. Love and respect our army.

आपकी जानकारी सत्य और कहानी का मिश्रित रूप है। आपकी विवेचना विशेष रूप से ग़लत है। मेरी समझ में नहीं आता कि किस लालच या उम्मीद में पत्रकार बातों को तोड़ मरोड़कर पब्लिक के सामने लाते हैं। जबकि इन बातों से न तो देश का न जनता का कोई भला होने वाला है। हाँ पत्रकार का निहित स्वार्थ ज़रूर हो सकता है। न इन बातों पर चर्चा करना प्रासंगिक है। गड़े मुर्दे उखाड़ने का कोई मतलब दिखाई नहीं देता। निहित स्वार्थ ज़रूर दिखाई देता है। प्रताप सिंह कारों नेहरू की पहली पसंद नहीं थे। पहली पसंद सच्चर थे। पर कैरों को अधिक विधायकों का समर्थन मिलने के कारण कैरों को मुख्यमंत्री बनाया गया था। पंजाब में अलग राज्य के आंदोलन को भी कैरों ने विफल किया था। जब कैरों के लड़के ने बदतमीज़ी की और उसे घर पहुँचने से पहले ही आर्मी ने पकड़ लिया तो कैरों को सूचना देने वाले आर्मी के लोग तो होंगे नहीं? जिन्होंने बताया होगा उन्होंने लड़की की गलती को छुपाया होगा या बहुत मामूली बताया होगा। अगले दिन कैरों को असलियत पता चल भी गई होगी तो भी नेहरू को तो कैरों ने ही इस घटना को बताया था। आर्मी कमांडर ने तो नहीं ? जिस तरह नेहरू के सामने बात आई उस तरह तो नेहरू का आर्मी चीफ़ से प्रश्न करना स्वाभाविक था। क्या ये बात उचित नहीं कि उस लड़के की शिकायत कर थाने में पकड़वाना चाहिए था। क़ानून को हाथ में तो लिया ही गया। उसके बाद भी नेहरू ने आर्मी के किसी व्यक्ति के खिलाफ कुछ नहीं किया न कैरों का सपोर्ट किया। फिर नेहरू पर कोई आरोप लगाना या उनको कैरों का पक्ष लेने का आरोपी बताना कैसे उचित हो सकता है ? नेहरू ने हमेशा डेमोक्रेटिक तरीक़े अपनाए और कभी किसी राजनीतिज्ञ को जनता पर हावी होने नहीं दिया। आज राजनीतिज्ञ बहुत से रेप तक ज़बरदस्ती करते हैं। हत्या तक हो जाती है। किस प्राइम मिनिस्टर ने एक्सन लिया है? खिलाड़ी लड़कियाँ यौन उत्पीडन के आरोप में धरना देती हैं। तब राजनीतिज्ञ क्या करते हैं? आपके इज़्ज़त दार आर्मी चीफ़ पार्टी की चमचागिरी कर डिप्टी मिनिस्टर जैसा demeaning पद स्वीकार करते हैं तब आर्मी की महानता कहाँ चली जाती है? सेना की नौकरी ख़त्म कर दी जाती है तब तो आर्मी चीफ़ या पत्रकार चुप्पी साध लेते हैं। आज कोई मुख्यमंत्री के बेटे को पकड़ कर दिखा दे तो आर्मी की महानता साबित हो जायेगी। आज है हिम्मत ? लेकिन जिसने डेमोक्रेटिक values का हमेशा सम्मान किया उंगली उसी पर उठाई जाती है। कैरों ने नेहरू के बाद मुख्यमंत्री पद से स्तीफा दिया था। आपका ये कथन कि नेहरू के जाने के कारण कैरों को दुबारा मुख्यमंत्री बनने का मौक़ा नहीं मिला ये एकदम गलत है। क्लीनचिट आने के बाद इस्तीफ़ा दिया गया था। घटना में कैरों की गलती हो सकती है पर नेहरू की नहीं। नेहरू पर तो मुख्यमंत्री की तरफ़ से शिकायत आई थी इसलिए आर्मी चीफ़ से जवाब लिया जाना ही उचित और न्यायसंगत था। नेहरू ने किसी को ग़लत रूप से प्रताड़ित तो नहीं किया। बल्कि बाद में हस्तक्षेप भी नहीं किया। आपने दुर्भावना वश या लालच के कारण नेहरू पर आरोप लगा दिया है। पता नहीं आप लोगों की आत्मा कैसे ये करा पाती है ?

Pratap Singh Kairon the Ex-CM of Punjab was pioneer in the administrative running of the state. He was a great visionary who worked tirelessly for the good of Punjab. He was able accomplish unbelievable progress and growth of Punjab in his 8y tenure and all others Governments combined since cannot come remotely close his success. It is no wonder he was murdered in this fashion because he wanted to work for the state with full loyalty and corruption free.
Agree with first part. But not with second. I belong to that area of Patti Kairon belt. From personal knowledge, he was killed due to personal enmity as common among Jatt Sikhs. I even know the cause and who did it. For ur knowledge, Kairon was removed due to corruption by his family. If can get then read the report of Das Commission about his corruption and after publishing of it, Kairon was asked resign by Pdt. Nehru himself.

I was quite young at the time of S.Partap Singh Kairon's murder. As you said that it was a political murder but you didn't give any concrete motive that could prove that.
During that era it was a big rumor that Swarn Singh and Buta Singh were behind his murder. Because Sardar Kairon was trying to come in the central politics. And he posed a threat to both of them. It's a matter of research. Kairon's son can give you more details. Every one in Punjab knew about this murder.
I was in 10th class in Patti school and we all students walked to Kairon for his funeral ( just 4 kms). It was a personal enmity within the distant relatives and Kairon. No political angle. S. Buta Singh was not a that big gun and S. Swaran Singh was such a gentle person that you should feel ashamed to put finger towards such a man. It all started when kairon involved one of his not very distant cousin's son in a Bank robbery in Phagwara and one person died. All the culprits were sentenced to death. I know all by names but will not mention here. I have met the widos of 2 of them and know both sides very well. It was revenge for that.

I wish to narrate an episode of February 1962. There was an election compaign meeting in our town and Our Prime Minister Shri Nehru and the CM Shri Kairon reached half an hour late.The audience had already started to go back. Suddenly, Kairon Sahab announced that" Pandit Ji Aa gaye hain." As the PM began to address the gathering, huge noise from some corners was making disturbance. He stopped for a while and asked them to be silent or go away.
There was a Pin Drop Silence.
