These sorts of conversations are what get me fired up about soccer in the USA. I've been a USMNT fan since the 1990 world cup. There are literally 2 things in my life that I wish for more than anything in my life (because I have no control over the outcome): 1) I hope my 6 year old severely special needs son can grow up and have some kind of independent life as an adult after me and my wife are gone and 2) I want the USMNT to win a world up. That's why I want as many American players to be playing in the Champions League and in top 5 leagues, because that's what world cup winners tend to have. I could care less about feeling "validated" by anyone or being a part of the world's soccer stage or feeling better about the USA as a soccer country or any other (bullshit) reasoning anyone comes up with. Winning the world cup is all that matters to me. Would I care if a team of MLS players won the world cup? No, but I also think I should be able to drink 6 milkshakes a day and still lose weight. The problem is that neither one of those two scenarios are going to happen and it's not because I'm a Eurosnob or some kind of milkshake snob. it's because that's just the way it is. And I get the impression that I am not alone in this mindset among USMNT fans.

11:30 Cavan Sullivan might have the highest ceiling to speculate about, but things can change for any number of different players in 2 to 3 years.
