Nicely done, GMW. I spent some of my formative years in Calgary and watching Stampede Wrestling, so I have been following the Harts from their beginning. The Bret/Perfect, Bret/Bulldog and Bret/Owen matches were some of my favourite matches ... all-time.
Great list, GMW!!! 👏👏👏👏👏 #6; The Rock vs Triple H at SummerSlam 1998. SummerSlam 98 was my first ever live PPV attendance and that match was awesome live and it's shame that no one talks about it much. It's a forgotten classic.
Nice video Greg! My thoughts, Agree with your list, although I might have provided a different order. As a Bret Hart fan, 1994 is one of my favorite years of all-time. The cage match between Owen and Bret is not only the greatest SS match in my opinion, but the greatest pure cage match and the best overall match of 1994. I remember watching it live with my dad, and much like you being scared shitless every time Owen was close to hitting the floor. This match certainly deserves all it's praise and the 5 star rating from Meltzer. I have gone back to this match a few times thinking it couldn't be as great as I or others like you and Dave have said, but 30 minutes after putting this match on Peacock I am reminded how great it is. The IC title match at SS 94 WAS FUN FUN FUN. Like you said, not great wrestling but good psychology and the Payton/HBK outside battle certainly makes up for any lack of technical or agility based wrestling. Angle vs RMJ at SS 2002 was outstanding. Loved the hot, balmy vibe of SS 1990 and the tag team title match was the greatest match of the night. HHH Rock at 98 was solid. It makes sense being a good ground based ladder match as Kevin Nash mentioned that Paul Levesque was the one who helped HBK and Razor put together their 1995 LADDER MATCH when they didn't have as much liberties as they did in their original match. Bret Bulldog speaks for itself and you couldn't have said it better as a fan and "smark." Watched the 2014 Lesnar Cena match and thought it was cool to see a one sided match in the main event. However, I wouldnt have had it in my top ten - maybe not even honorable mentions. I probably differed with you the most regarding your honorable mentions. Perfect v. Bret is our man's triumphant climb to the top of the pro wrestling ladder. Obviously he would become world champion but this was the match that put him with all the other greats of the day. Thanks again, Leo from Boston P.S. I think we all agree that even though HBK is "Mr. WrestleMania," Bret Hart is most certainly "MR. THE SUMMERSLAM!"
Funnily Rey actually was very delayed for his match with Kurt because he lost his mask under the ring while waiting for his queue, also about that match being super clean, Rey actually got super hurt and winded when he was pulled outta the ring, just goes to show how awesome both talents were and are cause your right the match still looked and flowed so well.
In Summer slam razer ramon vs Shawn Michaels, Shawn had a hilarious botch in the end where he was jumped from the ladder then held on the belt then fell then got pissed then went up and won it
Interesting how you mentioned the lack of bumping edge and christian took compared to the other two teams yet ironically there the two that no longer wrestle, kinda interesting and of course rather sad of those two
GMW. Please watch the Damien Sandow debut on tna. The guys great on the mic and said a few things regarding his departure from wwe. If you seen it what are your thoughts? I think it's a shame wwe messed him up. Also this is why the industry needs viable competition to wwe
My top 5 would be; 5. Bret Hart vs British Bulldog Summerslam 1992 4. Kurt Angle vs Rey Mysterio Summerslam 2002 3. Brock Lesnar vs CM Punk Summerslam 2013 No DQ 2. Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon Summerslam 1995 Ladder match 1. John Cena vs Daniel Bryan Summerslam 2013
as a fellow Hart fan at around 9:95 i realized there is an arguement for Bret hart being Mr. Summerslam seeing how he arguably had 4 years in a row (89-92) where he had one of if not the best match on the card then add in 94 and 97 and his work should speak for itself. just my opinion though
but too bad GMW didn't mention the match of Bret Hart vs The Undertaker Summerslam 1997, it was a very significant summerslam, because, putting the belt on Bret is what led to the Montreal Screwjob
10. LOD vs Money Inc SS 1992 09. Hart Foundation vs Demolition- SS 1990 08. Mankind vs Triple SS 1997 07. Razor Ramon vs Diesel SS 1994 06. The Rock vs Triple H 05. Undertaker vs Stone Cold SS 1998 04. Razor Ramon vs Shawn Michaels SS 1995 03. British Bulldog vs Bret Hart SS 1992 02. Bret Hart vs Mr. Prefect SS 1991 01. Owen Hart vs Bret Hart SS 1994
Unfortunately seeing Demolition in the Hall of Fame might take a while, they along with 48 other wrestlers are currently suing WWE for brain related injuries/damages.
10. Kurt angle v Rey Mysterio 9. Warrior v Rick Rude 8. TLC match 7. Shawn v Razor 6. Bret hart v Undertaker 5. Brock Lesner v Cm Punk 4. Shawn Michaels v HHH 3. Bret hart v Owen hart 2. Bret hart v Bulldog 1. Bret hart v Mr Perfect yes i am a Bret fan.....
fucking loved seeing Lesnar destroy Cena, people need to understand, he was in a program to be marketed as basically an impossible wall to break down, you made a great point about him beating the streak and not jobbing to Cena, youre right it wouldn't have made any sense.
Good choice for number one. Its one of my favourite ever matches full-stop. It shows you just what the art of Pro Wrestling should be. Its the perfect story told that starts with the post-match Interviews. Perfect deserves so much credit for setting Bret on his way as a singles guy, and to put up such a good match considering his back injury. Even Bret has put him over for that. The only down side was having the Coach at ringside he was a poor subistute for Bobby. Don't agree with many of your list, for me Punk-Lesnar was better than Cena-Lesnar. Lesnar-Rock would be no where near my list personally, it was a solid match but nothing outstanding. Agree with you on Angle-Mysterio that was really special at the time and the perfect way to open that Summerslam. And HBK's return later that night was perfect.
but it is still good ranked, but it should be a top 5 spot, instead of number 2, and Brock vs The Rock in 2002 should defenitifly in your top 10 best Summerslam of all time
Sounds like a lot of people hated it. Lots of "Boring" chants from the crowd, but I'll tell you, as a new fan of wrestling, this is the match that made me a Brock Lesnar mark. This match made Brock look positively monstrous and unstoppable. He hit his finisher within 30 seconds against Super Cena, that never happens! He was tossing him around like a rag doll, it's just glorious. I loved it and occasionally still watch it.
That's why I watch GMW, because even if it was some shitty Divas match making his top 3... He'll explain to us where his headspace was that day, who in his family he had just seen for the first time in ten years that made that day special for him , and why he always thinks of it in relation to an awesome memory ..
pretty good list, hope you can do the same for the Royal Rumble
Love your commentaries dude can't wait for Summerslam
Nicely done, GMW.

You're right, I still from time to time rewatch the Diseased Wrestlers video you done. Still my favorite video from you 4 years later.
Diseased wrestlers?
Hart Foundation/Demolition 1990. My fav match ever, period.
MARK OUT TIME for GMW. Love the Special Episodes/Commentary projects you do man
Goodmicwork is the Michael Jordan of youtube commentary
I need to see that Demolition vs Hart Foundation match.
Great list, GMW!!!
👏👏👏👏👏

SummerSlam 98 was my first ever live PPV attendance and that match was awesome live and it's shame that no one talks about it much.

SummerSlam 98 was the first wrestling PPV I ever saw live on TV and that ladder match was the match I remember the most on that card.

Excellent commantary as always
Sometimes I actually go back and watch your old commentaries if I'm watching random ppv matches on the wwe network.
Triple H vs The Rock from Summerslam 1998 would definitely be in my top 10. It's a very underrated Ladder Match.
Nice video Greg!
My thoughts,

So what are you planning to do when Survivor Series rolls around btw absolutely love your videos
The best top ten ever!!!
I always loved the Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon match at SummerSlam 1995.
this was awesome!
Lesnar vs Cena SS 2014 is the greatest match in WWE history.
HELL YEAH
After watching past Goodmicwork uploads, i correctly predicted 8 out out 10 choices. I knew Bret n Perfect would be #1
GoodMicWork could film himself making a sandwich and I'd still watch it.
Here we go!
In Summer slam razer ramon vs Shawn Michaels, Shawn had a hilarious botch in the end where he was jumped from the ladder then held on the belt then fell then got pissed then went up and won it

I would agree that Bret is Mr. Summerslam. I think he has the best resume as far as Summerslam goes.
but too bad GMW didn't mention the match of Bret Hart vs The Undertaker Summerslam 1997, it was a very significant summerslam, because, putting the belt on Bret is what led to the Montreal Screwjob
