Two Wheel Cruise, thanks for the video! My wife and I are training to pedal the Shikoku Circuit ride in November 2028 or 2029 as a reward for paying off our home and going debt free. What is the best month for cycling around the Shikoku Circuit? We are planning on avoiding the typhoon and humid 🥵 seasons, and we are guessing that November would be the best month.
I'm Korean and have been to Shimanami Kaido twice. Once from Imabari to Onomichi and the way around again. Nice route, fascinating spots, best of all, Japanese local people's hospitality and goodness remains in my mind. I want to take time to visis Seto Naikai again.
Awesome ride: Good surface, less cars. Would love to cycle it myself if I ever have the chance to do that. Btw: Keep shooting longer videos. Perfect for watching after work and on weekends 👌
Hello Cruise and Thuong. I think I made it to the live stream, Yeahhhhhh. gotta continue watching after church. Lovely weather and ride for a Sunday. as a nature lover, this is awesome, it’s breathtaking and I love the scenery💯 Have a good one guys👌🏽👌🏽👍🏼
Thank you so much for making and posting this video showing the whole Shimanami Kaido bike route. I'm planning on going in a month and a half, and I feel much better seeing the route. I was worried I wouldn't be able to finish it in time to catch a return bus, but you've shown me that I have nothing to worry about. And, I appreciate that you made it all the way to Imabari Station, which will be my end point as well. Thanks!
Hi, I wanted to return here for another big thank you. I biked the Shimanami Kaido starting at Setoda Port and ending at Imabari Station on April 9, 2024. I rented an electric assist bike (because I definitely wouldn't have made it otherwise). I arrived at Setoda Port from Hiroshima a little before 11am - I couldn't drive, so I had to take the public transportation, and the public transportation wouldn't get me to Onomichi in time to bike the whole Shimanami Kaido and make it to Imabari Station in time for the bus to take me back to Hiroshima. Then I didn't start until noon because it was rainy in the morning - spent an hour at the beautiful Kosanji Temple. This was definitely a scary challenge for me, because I've never done long-distance biking before, and also I'm not in good shape. But your video gave me the confidence to give it a try, and it was well worth it. The Shimanami Kaido was absolutely beautiful, especially with the sakura trees in bloom! So thank you, thank you, thank you once again for making this video. Knowing that some of the turn-offs were not obvious was especially helpful. (By the way, it's been 3 years since you posted this video, and not a lot has changed on the route. There was still construction (though in different locations), and the bike sanctuary on Omishima Island doesn't have ramen anymore: they had sushi and a few other options there as of April 2024.)
I did the tour in spring this year. It was one of the best vacation experiences I've ever had. The people on the islands and especially our hosts were very very friendly and hospitable.
@@TwoWheelCruise I decided to save this video instead. I spent my first four hours yesterday after a wisdom tooth extraction watching this ride. It definitely helped pass the time and it was worth the wait!
I came here after watching Abroad in Japan's video of the same bike ride. Thank you so much for capturing the level of detail you did. It's a truly beautiful route.
I worked in Iwate (Tanohata) and Tokyo in the 80s and 90s. I did some cycling throughout Japan. Where did you live in Iwate? I'm hoping to go back again after I retire.
Thanks for taking me back here (cycled Imabari - Onomichi direction, September 2017). When I can travel to Japan again, I will certainly take a few days there and explore the islands more. A lovely area.
Wow! I watched the entire 4 hour video ( over the course of a few days! ) and enjoyed going along for the epic ride. I never knew how beautiful and scenic Japan was until watching your videos, especially this one. To go from island to island and experience the vibe and feel of each must have been some experience. That last bridge #6 was truly spectacular and looked awesome. Thanks for another amazing cycling adventure video, I'm sure it brings back a lot of great memories for you both :-)
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video over a couple of weeks, 15 or 20 minutes at a time. As always great content, informative, entertaining and in high quality. We are still getting out on our bikes, but it is still quite cold here in the UK. We loved being with you virtually every second of the way. We are longing for the lovely warm weather to come our way so we can venture out in our cycling jerseys and not have to look like the trans Antarctic road bike expedition.
Love riding along with you both. We have children and Grands in Kobe, and have spent many happy months in Japan. Now we want to ride next visit. You are so easy to listen too and so informative. Thank-you for sharing. And the candid approach to everything including the clothing line is interesting too
Great video yet again. I personally prefer the longer videos. More relaxing(to me at least). I tend to watch over the course of a few days, and always look forward to where I left off.
I like longer videos too though I struggle to get content to fill even ten minutes so fair-play to put one out that's four hours long. Respect. JP the old guy.
Fantastic! I have bicycling buddies visiting from Seattle. We will definitely do this bicycle ride. Thanks for the fab video. I like the long version. It felt like I was actually riding with the both of you. Keep up the good work.
@@TwoWheelCruise its really much easier on a home trainer when you can watch videos like yours. Time flies ✌🏻 and I done 2 2 hour rides, one 4 hour ride is to much on a home trainer for me 😃
I love to go cycling in different areas. But since I had heath issue it isn’t easy. I want to start to do it again. Thanks for showing me the different places that you ride in japan. I love mountain bikes the most.
Loving the ride with you two on my spin bike. Hey, when you stop to take you pics, I keep pedaling, but, unfortunately, I don’t have a free wheel for when you are descending. So, I keep pedaling with the resistance turned down. I’m realizing that I’m not in the physical condition to match you both. So it will be some time before I’m able to go out there and do such a long ride with you both. 🚴♂️
Highest priority in my life is to move to Japan and experience these kinds of fascinating moments. And thanks to you I can get a glimpse of what I can do and where to visit in japan. I would gladly support you via Patreon but since I'm still a high school student I find it difficult to manage so if I'm lucky enough to remember this channel in the future I'd help out with what I can❤️
I did it over two days on a Brompton in April 2019. Stopped at every opportunity and diverted from the main route to explore the smaller islands. Beautiful place. I recommend also Shikoku for cycling. Shimanto River and Iya Valley are amazing :-) thank you for the video. Makes me want to go there soon.
I am still here watching. I really don't mind the long version - the uncut one - so I can get a feel of the country. I leave the video on while I work so I don't mind the long version :)) Thanks for doing the video. I love Japan but at this point of my life I am not able to travel there yet. I plan to live there sometimes when opportunity arises...
Ohhh I just found your channel last week and been watching your japan cycling trip 2020 playlist (amazing stuff!), you mentioned a few times to check out a full shimanami kaido video, and I could never find it. No wonder! It wasn't up yet! hahaha. I've got next week's worth of evening relaxing videos with this one alone! Thanks a lot! Keep up the great work
I followed you two on google maps km by km, that's fun for me. I also got to see a part of Japan without houses every 5ft. apart and without rice paddies. The scenery was awesome.
Thanks so much for sharing. I hope to do this ride one day. Also, I've read that there is a service that will allow you to forward luggage to your hotel. It might be worth considering next time :)
absolutely godly views on that last bridge! Glad you decided to upload the ride in its entirity. I've been too busy recently to do any consistent riding so I get my cycling fix with Two Wheel Cruise on the side late at night while smashing uni assignments XD. hope your new job is going well!
Excellent long tour! Great way to show us what Japanese roadways look like outside the big cities. Got to know that bike washes exist! Haven't heard of anything like that in North America. Seemed like Thuong was a little tired at the end of the video. You seemed to be going strong, though. Gotta find the right balance so you get a good workout and your wife does too without going overboard. Still, a very impressive cycling video. Thanks for taking us along with you.
Thank you, you have convinced me not to ride the Shimanami Kaido Bike Route, I have only one day in Onomichi and would like to see the all islands, so, I have decided to hire a car and drive. You showed me the entire ride, how it truly is. Other videos (15 - 25 minutes) are edited and only show the highlights. From your video, I see majority riding is on roads without the beach views. Thank you for the 4 hour video.
I wonder how your day in Onomichi and the driving through the Route was. From your comment, it seems like you think it is not worth a bike ride. Biking vs car driving impressions and immersion are very different. Even biking through the Route in one day vs staying there a few nights and exploring the islands more thoroughly are quite different experiences.
You can stay at U2 hotel in Onomichi with your bike - they have specials sometimes on weekdays (Tues, Wed esp.). They have a bike hanger in your room. Very cool ;)
Thank you SOOO much for posting this! I dream of coming to Japan soon and, even if I have to solo this cause friends just wanna chill during travel 😂, I'd love to go here! Been searching for luggage storage, night stay, bike rentals and the ideal route. Anyone who could recommend anything would be awesome 😁
@@TwoWheelCruise That’s true. Maybe a long train trip through Europe and Asia and then a ferry. That would be the ultimate dream trip. You’d need a while to make it work though.
I always keep rewatching this video because it's so relaxing. Also as part of my research on how to ride this course in the near future (hopefully this coming fall)
Been in Japan for 5 months and have been looking forward to doing this during my entire stay. I planned a lot, there was a lot of stress involved beforehand. Will the rental E-Bike be enough to carry my ass that has not cycled in 15+ years? Will the weather stay good? Will I get a flat somewhere along the way? Two days ago, I started the route at Onomichi, picked up my E-Bike from the rental because I knew I should play it safe and not take a normal one and I finished the enitre thing, including the Kirosan Observatory, in just over 10 hours with a lot of breaks for pictures, lunch and so forth. My butt still hurts but it was all worth it. I'm still in disbelief that I actually did it. That early morning start with the sun slowly rising, the cold breeze, the calm and quiet, just me and the bike...I will never forget it. The views were absolutely incredible and I found myself stopping every couple minutes to take pictures and take in the scenery. Watching videos like this now reminds me of the trip along the shores and on the bridges - being able to say "Hey, I know that spot, I was there!" feels so damn good. Thanks for this full video. It's fun to see people who are actually...you know...cyclists do this. Amazed at how fast you guys did this.
I’ve been researching this path for months, but i was planning to take it from the other side (where you finish) and making my end point onimichi, mainly because i read somewhere that there would be less uphills and probably that’s gonna be the best choice haha, im gonna arrive to the south of japan anyway so there’s no point to go to onomichi and start there in my case. Thank you for the video it’s really helping me a lot!
Beautiful. I'd love to visit Japan - it seems such a nice country in every way. I've only watched the first 40 min. so far, so I've got the remainder to look forward to. Thanks, Cruise and Thuong. :-))

Awesome
That is very nice....I have to go there and ride. After the Olympics
THANK YOU SO MUCH CRUISE! YOU ROCK!
Love these long videos! keep making them cause I love seeing all the scenery
FYI, 8am here in London, meant to be working but watching this video instead LOL
Haha 😅
Another amazing vlog! feels like i'm actually travelling Japan through your vlogs. Hope to see more amazing videos like this by you.
Thanks! 😁
hoping to be able to ride this cycling path one day!
It's worth it!
Beautiful. I'd love to visit Japan - it seems such a nice country in every way. I've only watched the first 40 min. so far, so I've got the remainder to look forward to. Thanks, Cruise and Thuong. :-))
Love the countryside and fishing town areas here :)

Thank you for sharing the complete ride! Wife and I are adding it to our bucket ride list! 🚴🚵♀️💞
