Interesting video Ant and fair play to you attempting this on your driveway! I am pretty sure that your piston oil scraper rings are designed to have a small gap in them (although not aligned top and bottom), rather than a piece is missing and caused bore scoring. I'll have a look around for another video to see if I can confirm.
