  • Kowloon International Baptist Church - Dr. James "Butch" Tanner's sermon titled "Words from the Cross: 'I Am Thirsty'" covering John 19:28-29 delivered on 29 March 2020. Please visit us at: www.hkkibc.org
    Sermon Notes:
    John 19:28-29 (NASB)
28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture, said, "I am thirsty." 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth.
Jesus was truly God in the flesh. He was totally God and totally man at the same time. "I am thirsty" weighs in on the proof of His humanity but it does much more than that. Let’s look and see.
    His thirst reveals that
    1. There was a real person on the cross.
    Mark 14:18, Luke 2:49, 19:10
    2. Scripture is always fulfilled.
    Psalm 69:21, 42:2, 22:16, 18, 1, 15, 69:3, 21, 22:8
    3. Jesus on the cross connects to the Passover.
    Exodus 12:22
    4. Jesus gave His all.
    John 4:13-15, 6:35, 7:37, Matthew 5:6, Psalm 63:1
