57:41 The Gentle Hum of Anxiety is just just addictive
That Is the Best one
When it comes to film scores, it is not only about how good the music is, but also about how well does it fit the theme of the movie, and this OST not only has some amazing sounds in it, but also fits perfectly the whole anxious construction of a an idea that "The Social Network" is.

The first song really captivates me. It's so delicate, yet so full of angst. It truly captures the feeling of Eisenberg's character - particularly his ego - throughout the film.
It's no wonder this soundtrack won the Academy Award. It's perfect.
Listening to this with high quality, over the ear headphones is _wild._ At 22:45, it feels like Reznor himself is flicking at my ears. So cool
asmr, baby
Every time I hear the first song, it makes me want to cry. For some reason, it reminds me of my college days. I don't know if it's because of the movie being set at college at the start, and playing while he's walking back to his dorm or what, but it's so sad to think back to those days and realize they're.... over forever.... literally forever.... the piano captures that feeling perfectly....

When I first saw this movie, of all things that stayed with me, one was more powerful, and it was that sometimes we achieve so much, yet in the end we lack what made us start. The scene I'll never forget is the last scene you see in the movie, when he stays in that room, pressing F5, and we never know how long he waited.
Maybe in the real life he didn't wait that long, or maybe he checked his own creation every day, but that scene stayed with me over any other else.
You mean the last minute of the film? Literally the last thing they showed you is what stayed with you? Wow. What a deep, impactful film.

I still vividly remember seeing this movie's trailer a few times in the summer of 2010 at 12 years old. Captivated by how well made the trailer was, I ended up seeing the movie, and it's still one of my favs. This is easily one of, if not, the best movie soundtrack of the 2010s. Never had a film that made me feel this way at a young age, the feeling of optimism for the new decade at the time.
truly a great time to be alive watching in the cinemas
But at what cost ? Social media is nothing but a weapon for politicians and corrupt presidents like Biden. It’s good you guys found a passion , but please look elsewhere for skills , robots will take all of your jobs in the future .
Did not expect such an excellent soundtrack for this movie. Reznor is really killin it!
gotta love Trent Reznor And Atticus Ross
still one of the best soundtracks and best movie i ever watched
The piano in the beginning gets me every time. It just gives me goosebumps.
"Hand Covers Bruise" will always be my favorite, and I'm mostly here for "In Motion," "A Familiar Taste," "Intriguing Possibilities," "Pieces from the Whole," and "Magnetic," because they are amazing songs to do work while listening to, but through coming to this video almost daily over the past year, I've started to really appreciate and love the part that starts at 56:08. The way the two very different melodies overlap is so unique and interesting, and this seems like a very fitting way to wind down the soundtrack after the heartbreaking "Hand Covers Bruise" reprisal. Something about the way the one melody echoes, and how the music is fast, distant, and driven just seems to fit the tone of the end of the movie. This is the end of this particular chapter, but overall, the story of Facebook is just getting started, and we have no idea where we're going. Hell, maybe we'll end up having to testify in front of Congress someday...
For me on we March comes first, then hand covers bruise, followed by painting sun in abstract and carbon prevails, sorkin said he's ready for sequel if David Fincher agrees and honestly I am really looking forward to it the whole 2016 drama and 2020 court hearings and more (played by jesse Eisenberg with cameos from both garfield and Parker would be amazing)
Complication with Optimistic Outcome is like a more abrasive version of Painted Sun in Abstract.
From "Head like a Hole" to this soundtrack is truly breathtaking. If you were not a kid in the 90's you have no F'in idea the level of sophistication Trent has evolved into.
Absolute brilliance
Atticus Ross?
I was a kid in the 90’s. I was there for the evolution from Pretty Hate Machine to Downward Spiral then to the Quake and Lost Highway soundtracks and ending with The Fragile. When Social Network came out, we knew it was nothing new.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are fantastic. They really know how to capture the mood of the projects they score.
@@bguzewi0 the Gone Girl one is fantastic, they came up with it after Fincher said he heard this ambient music at a physiotherapist’s that was meant to soothe, but was actually anxiety-producing, hence the distorted sounds in the soundtrack.

Adam Stanley Are you working for a well-known game development company or an indie team?
Thats so weird... How come we all end up here??
When I first saw this film...when it came out on DVD or whatever, I was unaware of Reznor's work with scoring films......but I know his first four albums like the back of my hand (Pretty Hate Machine, Broken, Fixed and The Downward Spiral) - I was watching this ...and only a few minutes in when the music starts (Hand Covers Bruise) and he's running back to his dorm room the vibes from a few pieces on Pretty Hate Machine and the vibes from Downward Spiral were just smacking me in the face (also the NIN original Quake game soundtrack was a dry run for this sound scape stuff). I obviously ran to my computer, looked up the film details and confirmed what my ears were telling me.
This soundtrack is unbelievable, the fact i can come back to it countless times and not feel less engaged.

Leave it to a movie about FACEBOOK to have the most original Soundtrack I've heard in over a Decade. This movie in the Theater was amazing because of the Music, very Energenetic and Electronic (Reznor & Ross of course).
Then it all comes to an almost tranquil ending with 01:01:36 "Soft Trees Break the Fall"
Mark Hazleton, you're right, the music is pure Reznor and Ross. Two amazing guys. Reznor also did the opening theme for the movie seven, and has worked on soundtracks for various video games (apologies if you knew that lol).
Natasha McCready yes haha QUAKE was creepy and atmospheric thanks to Reznor. Even Atticus Ross can be good alone like with "The Book of Eli" which i thought had a great score.

In Motion. Always playing in the back of my mind somewhere. It's the sound that inspires relentless creativity. This is the sound of the people that aren't particularly interesting in social networking and spend their time in their own heads experimenting with ideas.

Well NIN is a different bag of cats, I listened to Reznor's songs so many times, can't hear them no more.. Trent is a genius. His music takes a while to get used to, but once you do, you're lost. Then anything you hear that he touched, you know in a second what parts of the music are his. HTDA are nice, kind of a NIN continue but in less depressed, more happy way, and their singer's voice is nice, I thought Trent married her just because she's pretty, but hey, she can sing too!
Tron by daft punk is pretty solid too!
Can't believe there exists filmmaker who can make a film on creation of facebook so hauntingly good.
the interesting thing about this music is how separate movement can be to it. What I mean is the music can evoke an en entirely different emotion than the actual physical character. It creates such a contrast between what you see and hear, and therefore, completely ingenious given the context.
