I've done over 500 miles on mine recently. And it's such a great scooter but I will highly recommend that if you're going to take it off road like I do and ride it at max speed to please please adjust those shocks to the fastest tightest setting. If you have them where they come in the box by default or any softer it could literally bounce you right off the scooter. This was my first scooter and I had it for about 6 or 7 weeks and then I decided I just had upgrade and I got the mighty segway.G.T2LO, L, you know the $4000.Most expensive one that goes 43 miles an hour LO.L. So now I have 2 and my friend comes with me. And we ride the trails over here and New Jersey and Philadelphia every day and right on the streets in the city. Also, it's so much fun but tnine. But max G2 has a cult following for a reason. It takes 4 hours to charge from nothing and it's a great little scooter. I just wish it had more range like my GT 2. Again? If you ride at max speed and have a city with a lot of bumps or pot holes.Or want to take it off-road.Please look up how to adjust the backshots to the tightest setting. It's very easy. You just take the allen wrenched tool and pushed it to the right downwards until it stops
I get 25miles of o go full speed at 22mph. Amd ib takes it off road everyday. Please adjust the shocks to tighten them for potholes and for off roading. DO NOT SOFTEN THEM
That’s a great point. Thankfully Segway makes it relatively easy to adjust. And you’re right, an overly bouncy suspension is no good. I’ve heard great things about the GT2. That’s awesome you have both and have someone to ride with. I’m hoping your weather is much nicer than where I’m at in the Phoenix area. I have to get my rides in bright and early in the AM while the desert is pre heating haha.
I just got the F65 and its like the budget G2. Gets similar range, has signals, outputs 1000w in sport, really rips up hills most times. But I do experience the cruise disengaging on occasion.
Nice! I’ve looked at the F65 and F2 Pro. You’re right, they share a lot with the G2. Segway really does have a solid lineup of scooters. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track of them all because they have so many haha.
Hi Tom!.. Great review. I have my Max G2 for a few weeks and am very happy. But I dislike the poor resolution on the throttle behavior especially when riding on Spot mode as it feels almost like "All or Nothing" lacking of a smooth response. I hope Segway will address this issue in the next firmware release. Thank you for your honest reviews. 👍
@kavorka8855Yes, it is my first scooter... Maybe I need to get used to it. But it feels like the last quarter of the throttle is controlling the speed. Thank you for your reply! 👍
Thanks, Joe! I haven’t noticed that on mine, but I’ll definitely test it out. I have a dual motor higher power scooter that has a bit of a sensitive throttle that took me a while to get used to. I actually had to go into the settings and dial down the throttle response because it wanted to launch me into another dimension every time I breathed on it 😅.
@kavorka8855Yes, It's a great scooter, and thank you for your feedback. I already talked with Segway about the issue and maybe soon we'll see an improvement in the linearity of the throttle. 👍✨
I still love it. Excellent ride. Only have 150 miles on it. Latest firmware fixed my biggest complaint (sometimes regen/accel can be a little jerky… latest update completely fixed)
There is allways a compromis between 1- price 2- range 3- wight 4- range 5- speed 6- durability etc So may be you can buy a fastar but it will be a less range or higher weight. It can be a longar range, but not so fast and higher weight. Or it can be Max G2 that overall for daily rides a greate scooter at his price point. I just bought 2 of them, (for me and my 12y son) after few days of market searching. And that what I understood. Defenitly recommend
I love my G2...wish it was maybe 5 to 10 lbs lighter, had a louder horn and maybe the turn signal buttons repositioned so you dont hit them by mistake but other than that I would definitely recommend it others.
After 3 summers on a G30P I should be getting a MAX G2 in 2 months. The suspension is the main upgrade reason then some of other enhancements like blinkers. So after 500 miles, how is the suspension? Same as day 1? No strange noise/rattle? Thanks for the update!
The suspension has been awesome on the G2. The only real noise it makes is if it gets really wet from riding in rain. Only then does it make a squeak when you first hop on. Squeak usually goes away after a few seconds. I just wipe the rear coils down after riding in the rain. You can also use some lubricant to keep things moving smoothly. Really no different than any other scooter/bike suspension. Another thing worth mentioning is that if you go over a deep wide crack or unusually sharp bump in the road at high speed, you may hear the rear suspension “recoil” as it clears the obstacle. Some liken it to a clunk sound. It’s simply the suspension recoiling. Hasn’t been an issue for me and the suspension has held up great, even after going over some gnarly stuff. Maybe Segway can add some rubber stoppers in the future to soften the recoil.
I have used the Max G2 for this summer, and for what its worth, don't buy it if it ever rains in your area. The weather sealing on the front bearings is absolutely non existent and will need to replaced if you even think about driving after a rain. Signals are kinda nice, but also often not so usefull. People coming from behind have a hard time seeing them from the handle bar when your elbows are in the way. Electric signal beep is also something that people tend not to know. A traditional ring ring would be much better noticed. The rear suspension is very noisy and clunky when going over cobble stones. I have no experience from other escooters with suspension. The suspension works, but if you drive from 4cm curb (1,5") it will slam the tire to the ground with a bang. After todays commute, the rear also started making a strange noise when going over sloped curbs, which has me worried I have to turn it in for warranty repair, and the reason why I'm here. Maybe something got loose etc. since they set up a construction/cable bump on my commute route, and I tend not to slow on it, just bunny hop it a bit.
Do you have a lot of cobblestones on your ride? Based on my experience, the G2 has one of the best suspensions for a sub-$1000 commuter scooter. With that being said, it does have its limits. For big stuff like cobblestones I’d recommend something with beefier suspension. Also, check your rear fender to make sure it’s secured and not loose. As for signals, definitely agree. Having something mounted by the rear taillight would be nice for extra visibility.
@@tomsgadgetgarage not that much on my commute route. I do like how the suspension basically is comfortable most of the time, but the clunk-clunk-clunk when even driving over some pavement stones, was surprising. I did finally get around to adjusting the suspension (to harder), that might help. I have to check the fender, something definitely got loose, since it now makes a really noticeable crack/rattle sound even at relative slight bumps.
Yah that clunking sound unfortunately is normal. It happens when the rear springs recoil. There’s nothing there to dampen the recoil. Hopefully they address that in a future update of this scooter.
Hi. İs your max g2’s motor makes a noise like this? Is this normal? Because it’s not like regenerative braking. th-cam.com/users/shorts0UG-V0g6BI8?si=cSurDY3fuHq5XqrQ
The g2 is great . But if u ran in some issues and u need contact customer service u banging the brick wall . The scooter stop charging I have sent it two times as first time they simply sent it back not fixed it took 4 months and tens of emails and phone calls with no solution untill I decided to threaten them that I'll escalate it to competition and consumer protection commission in Ireland and finally after freaking 4 months not having my g2 they have sent me a brand new replacement which is cool but Holly crap u need to break the brick wall if something going wrong and they practice to dismiss their clients with prewritten formula like " we contant the service and will contact u back once we know more " offcourse never hear back . So yeah keep in mind it's very very difficult problematic customer service probably the worst I ever experienced .
Don't buy Segways! Get yourself the VMAX brand scooters instead. Amazing Swiss-designed scooter brand for the European market and has phenomenal range! Thank god I got myself a Segway F2 Pro instead of the more overhyped G2!
Oh wow, yah I’ve read about customer service nightmares from a variety of brands, and unfortunately it really seems to be a problem in the electric scooter market. I think part of the issue is the whole shipping of scooters back and forth to be serviced. That quickly gets expensive. I really think there needs to be more local service centers. For example, with my Lectric E-Bike, it came brand new in the box with a flat tire. When I contacted the company, they sent me new tubes, very clear replacement instructions, and even offered to cover the full cost to have a local bike shop make the repair if I didn’t want to do it myself. That’s the kind of service we need with scooters. Glad you ended up getting a replacement scooter, but it’s really unfortunate you had to wait 4 months for a proper resolution. I mean, many of these companies preach how scooters can be used to replace cars, but if it’s going to take 4 months to get a fix, it will never happen :(.
@@tomsgadgetgarage that is the point 4 months is significant time and I use it as transport to work lucky me that my wife have g2 too and she use it only for ride around from time to time so I used her scooter thanks for her kindness 🙂. I heard in the past that some brands sending out parts to replace it locally and I think this should be industry standard.
That’s awesome! Good news is that I’ve taken the G2 out on hot days in the middle of the Summer and have yet to have an issue with overheating. Overall a great scooter. Have fun!
I purchased it from Amazon amzn.to/3s0oPme (affiliate link). The arm is long which helps extend the mirror out as far as possible. I’ve been using this mirror for about a year now with no issues.
@@tomsgadgetgaragethank you so much couple more questions please …. When I do plug in the cable to the scooter it turns on and charges and the display stays on should I shut off the scooter while charging it or leave it on? any recommended ways how to properly charge it ? And one more question I can hear squeaking in from when rocking handle bars back and forth can’t figure out what it is and recommends?
So the display will show you the battery percentage as it’s charging. You can leave it as is, it will shut down when charging completes. I recommend setting the charge % in the app to 80-90%. This will increase the longevity of your battery. Once a month or so be sure to charge it to 100%. Also, if you plan to store it unused for more than a few days, make sure battery levels are around 50-70%. You also don’t want to leave it at 100% for very long as that also can impact battery life.
@@tomsgadgetgaragewell why is ask if I should turn it off or keep it on it says on google and on the Internet you should keep it off because y can damage the lifespan of the battery I don’t know I’m confused I just don’t want to damage the battery… so what do you think can I leave it on r of or what would u recommend ?
Would you say this is as durable as the G30? I am currently a student, and want something that’s gonna last me for a while without needing repair. I would prefer a smoother ride with the suspension, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the trade off if it’s not as durable as the G30.
Based on my testing, the Max G2 is a very durable and reliable scooter. Just be sure to always keep your tires inflated between 42-48 PSI and avoid jumps.
I should find you video earlier ! I bought a F40 3 days ago and go down to 20% just on 7mi of the claimed 24mi😮💨and im 195lb. I tried go out with 70% pretending to give me 13mi , and just finish with 3.5m I will definitely get it back and ask for this G2, i want that 20mi at last! Thanks
Thanks for your comment. I was thinking about buying "NINEBOT KS MAX G2 E" next week. I'm 210lb. I am expecting a range of 18 to 20 miles minimum for 90% charge. What do you think?
So there are scooters that allow that. For example, the Rictor S9 or the Ausom Gallop. There are others as well. The question is how much weight are you willing to carry? The Gallop has a massive heavy battery so likely not a great option. The S9’s is more manageable. TurboAnt also has a line of scooters with swappable batteries.
@tomsgadgetgarage great thanks. Or alternatively are there any recommendations for scooters with long ranges....maybe 80km (actual range, not the "claimed" range 🙂)
That’s awesome. Yah the Max G2 has held up well for me as well. I do wish all regions had the option to go 35kmh, especially when you get on the wide open road.
You should be fine at 240. It has a capacity of 265, so lots of buffer. You’ll likely get a bit less range and acceleration, but nothing drastically different. Plus they are now releasing their latest firmware which increases power output.
When will this scooter go down to 800? I don't want to pay a thousand dollars for it. I paid 900 for the Ninebot G30 then a couple months later it's 700 dollars.
You can try Black Friday or one of the Prime days. I bought an NIU KQi 300X for $1,049 then the price dropped to $929. I did get a price adjustment but then it dropped to $849 a couple weeks later then $799 on their anniversary flash sale. I wasn’t pleased lol.
Hello, I have not had a chance to test out a VSETT 8. On paper, it should have greater hill climb ability given it’s a 48v system and has 33% more nominal wattage. My concern is the 8” tires and the fact that it has a solid rear tire.
My back wheel on my G2 makes a thunk sound when going over 1” high dents in the road, or when coming out of a drive way onto the street, -is this normal, does your back wheel make a thunk sound? Is that because of the suspension? Do you have a recommendation for setting the suspension harder or softer to reduce the thunk? Thank you 🦋
Hey! So the sound you’re hearing is the recoil on the coil springs in the back. Usually happens when you go over particularly harsh bumps, like the 1” dents you mentioned or big cracks in the road. Softening up the suspension can help, but it won’t eliminate it completely. I’ve tested quite a few scooters and can say this isn’t unique to Segway. Happens with hydraulic coil spring suspension, regular coil springs, even rubber cartridge suspension :(.
So my G2 is stock, so no extra battery on mine. There are videos of people upgrading to higher voltage batteries, but I personally haven’t done anything like that.
You shouldn’t have any issues riding in the rain with the IPX5 rating. I actually accidentally rode mine during a huge rainstorm. Wish I got it on video haha.
At 53lbs it’s a pretty decent sized scooter. If it were me going on public transport regularly I’d probably go with something a little lighter, maybe the Ninebot F2 Pro if there are no crazy hills.
great video, I am currently stuck on decision making between the NUI 300x, NUI KQI3 Max, and Segway Max G2. This is my first scooter and I want something to go into instead of buying more scooter later on. Please help. Thanks
Thank you! If all of those fit into the budget and you want to minimize future upgrades, I would choose something with a suspension. The Max G2 is the most comfortable to ride of the three you listed, but it’s slower in terms of top speed and acceleration than the KQi 300X.
@@tomsgadgetgarage went with the KQI 300X just picked it up today i spent a ton of research. We have some overpasses and hills so i wanted something that would help tomorrow is going to be the test run. Got it out of the box and assembled in less than 10 minutes. Easy to assemble.
@@tomsgadgetgarage 6 miles this morning 81% left on the charge. I have it set so no kick start, bit of a curve on learning. Not too bad so far my only complaint is I wish the cruise control starts a tad bit quicker also when letting go of the throttle to coast i wish the motor doesn't slow you down so you get more roll time on downhills, it sets nice and easy on e-save mode but i seriously don't think i will be going past 15mph really no need conserve the battery..lol Rides nice and smooth. the 8-9mph feels kinda slow but then again the more i ride the more comfortable i become. Best decision i have made yet. Also it handled the overpasses with easy at 8-9mph with no sign of slowing down.
So for the motor slowing you down issue, that’s the regen brake kicking in when you release the throttle. You can go into the app and turn regen off. That should allow you to coast. Great to hear you were able to get over the overpasses 💪
I usually have it in the supermarket with me, and I carry the shopping basket on it. For this purpose the old G30 was better since the scooter on stand is not as tilted, but it works.
Do you think "NIU KQi 300X Electric Scooter All-Terrain Suspension" is a better choice than the one you discussed? NIU kQi 300X has got 500 watt (min) and 1000 max. And that is 48 volt compared to Max G2 which is 36 volt. Suspension there is only in the front (double) whilst G2 has double suspension system. Any suggestion?
I prefer front and rear suspension to just upfront, but the KQI300X does use dual hydraulic suspension upfront which is preferable to the single shock upfront that the G2 has. The design of the G2 front suspension means there will always be slight play in the wheel. For example, if I hold the G2’s front wheel between my feet, there’s about 1mm of play in each direction. Good news is that it’s not really noticeable when riding. All else being equal, I would choose a 48v system over a 36v system. The G2 does make the best of it though.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Thank you for your comment; it helped clarify my decision. What are your thoughts on the NIU Air scooter? It’s made of 70% carbon fiber, which brings its weight down to only 12 kg. Despite this light weight, it offers impressive performance and range. Considering this, do you think it's wiser to spend 1,000 Euros on the NIU Air or 700 Euros on the KQI300X? The KQI300X series is known for being a powerful scooter, even outperforming the Segway Max G2. On the other hand, the NIU Air, while a medium scooter, is highly portable-an aspect that interests me greatly. How would you compare the two in terms of value and functionality?
Anytime :). The Air is a great choice for those needing maximum portability with respectable performance. The downside is that it doesn’t have a suspension. If your ride is on smooth surfaces and maximizing portability is a must, the Air is a solid option. But if you’re looking for more comfort on longer rides and are okay with the extra weight, the 300X has the advantage. Having no suspension isn’t terrible. It’s just not as comfortable over longer distances. To put it into perspective, I have a no suspension e-bike that weighs 36lbs. It’s one of my favorite e-bikes because it’s very light compared to most e-bikes on the market. Once the battery drains, I can pedal it as easily as I would a normal bike. It’s not as comfortable as my other suspension e-bike, but it gets the job done.
Hey! So this is the mirror I use. It’s got the longest arm I could find with this style mirror. amzn.to/3s0oPme (affiliate link). It’s held up really well so far. Just make sure to position any mirror you get as close to the end of the handlebar as possible for best visibility.
Hi, great video. Did you check your G2 for play on front suspension? If youre not sure what Im talking about reply and Ill forward you link to a video about it.
So the good news is that it hasn’t changed for me since I got mine back in June 2023. Same amount of play. I personally can’t feel it while riding and haven’t experienced any instability because of it.
Yah I’ve noticed many times as soon as it hits 22mph it drops the power, so it’s definitely capable of more. It’s likely a balance between speed and range.
So if you ride the scooter for a while then immediately try and charge, it may not work. The controller/battery in the scooter has to get down below a certain temp before it lets you charge. I wait 30 minutes to charge after riding. I have heard some people having issues with charging unrelated to that, but it’s not something I’ve experienced.
Mines done 580km and its got a charging issue wont charge past 80pc and the other day was riding it and it just turned off and i couldent start it again. 😢 its been a really great scooter up to that point and i suppose there is always a lemon in every group
Oh yah, there are lots of rental scooters all over the place and people just dump them everywhere when they are done. Not sure what’s wrong with people, but it makes it hard to get the community to accept scooters as an accepted alternative mode of transportation when they are all over the place blocking walking paths…
32 Miles of Range? Really??? I have not seen anyone post any numbers remotely like that? Would love confirmation on that if you can. Thank you! Great Videos!

Gotcha! Thanks so much for the quick info. Looking for long-term range.... I've gotten myself tempted down the rabbit hole of the VMAX VX4. Do you have any info? Scam or real scooter? All the reviews seem "paid". They even hit the same buzz words. So ... Suspicious. But nice stats. So.... Tempting.
I haven’t tested the VMAX VX4 but I’ve heard really good things about it. I like that they offer different battery options. It’s a scooter I’ve considered buying myself but I’m tapped out for 2024 until I offload some of my older scooters.
Compré este scooter hace unos dias y me gusta mucho! Pero no se si debería actualizarlo... no quiero perder potencia ni aceleración 😢. Muchas gracias por toda la información 🙌🏼
Great video! It's funny you said it has a very quiet motor..I feel the opposite mine is much louder than my wife & kids Hiboy's! Also, mine has the same issue as @JoeDplummer_ the motor seems to surge even when I lift the scooter off the ground letting it free spin you can hear the surging even when keeping the throttle in the exact same spot. I also have an issue with the throttle cutting off at low speeds, it will be unresponsive until I let it go back in park then start again.. I'm sending it in to Segway for service.
Hi there bud. I have searched the entire comment section for if anyone has asked about the play/tolerance in the front wheel right out of the box. I was about to buy a Max G2 yesterday from a shop but the play makes me think otherwise. Its the front wheel play/wobble or tolerance (left and right when you hold the fork). I know some scooters have that but on the G2 its just a lot. Do you have this on your scooter? Any help/suggestion would be much appreciated. Cheers from Spain!! P.s The play is more like 0.5 to 1cm each side (which imo is insane and dangerous) What do you reckon? Found a short video about it. th-cam.com/users/shortsmSifsDhYG2I
Hello! So I have about 1mm or so of play in each direction. It’s not something I can actually feel while riding. 0.5cm to 1cm of play is crazy. Sounds like something needs to be tightened down. If it came like that from the factory, I’d be concern that maybe there are other problems as well.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Thank you for replying. I haven't bought it yet. After i saw the play on the display model i got put off. Still considering buying it and hoping it arrives with only a little bit of play like you say. Researched some online too and i guess 1mm or so play is alright but damn that play on the display model was insane. Will keep you informed. Cheers bud.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Hey! Fantasttic news. I bought it and got a great deal on Amazon prime day. So far 13 kms on it and i absolutely am loving it. No play on the front wheel whatever so ever apart from the 0.5mm or so. The only thing is the handle slightly is misalignment. Like if you hold the handlbar straight, the scooter goes a bit to the left and i can even slightly see it visibly while seing from top. The wheel isn't bent but what to you think i can do about it. It's very slight but getting to my head haha. Thanks man, really appreciate your help and VIDEOS. Keep up the great work.
They don't have liability if you crash it. You did it. Limiting downhill is in itself enough to not buy it but the overheat adds even more. I'm not buying a Nanny, I'm buying my scooter. Get it, Segway, MY scooter. Get out of MY business while you take a hike.
My brand new G2 has annoying rattle on the front fork / suspension when I go over bumps but I have not seen anybody else in any forum mention this problem. Wondering how it can just be my scooter??? Also the rear suspension makes a “clunk” noise sometimes when you go over bumps and it also sometimes bottoms out which is annoying and I wouldn’t think this should be happening on this scooter. Does anybody else have these issues? I would REALLY love to know! Are they a flaw with the design of the scooter or can noise issues like these be resolved. I love everything else about the scooter.
You definitely shouldn’t have any kind of rattle on the front suspension. Sounds like something is loose or has too much play. I would stand in front of the scooter, put the front wheel between your feet so it doesn’t move and turn the handlebars. There should be minimal play maybe 1-2mm in each direction. As for the rear suspension, when going over big bumps or deep cracks in the road very fast, you can hear clunk in the rear. It could be a combination of bottoming out or recoiling very fast. You can try and reduce it by adjusting the spring tension. To be honest I’ve experienced the same thing even on off-road scooters with hydraulic coil spring suspension with lots more travel than the G2. I softened mine up a bit which has helped.
Don`t know what happened with Segway in last few years. Mine P100S is a disaster, every 500km it requres fixing. Last thing that broke was front arm. Segway MAX G2 has now so many issues, that G30 didn`t ever had, that it is probably some personal changes in the company that lead to that. So now I`m back on G30 II, it is better than first G30 and have no issues. This is the best scooter world has eves seen. Not so comfortable as Max G2 probably, but it will do 11 000 km as my previous G30. I`m absolutely certain that Max G2 suspension will not last 11 000 km if it starts to squeak after 700km.
I’ve definitely heard various reports of issues with the P100S. For the Max G2, so far it’s held up great for me. Not even a single flat tire driving out here in the desert aka thorn country. There were a bunch of issues when it launched, but most of them have been addressed with updates. Definitely a rough start though. Of course, I’m a single person, but generally speaking there are a lot fewer reports of issues now compared to when it first launched. We’ll have to wait and see how it fares over the coming years. But the G30 is definitely the gold standard in my book for a scooter w/o a suspension.
This isn’t a sponsored video. Purchased this scooter cash, as I do with about 50% of the products I review. This is probably the 15th video I made on this scooter lol. You were probably seeing a TH-cam ad.
That’s really unfortunate. At three batteries, I wonder if maybe something else is going on with the controller? Did Segway cover the cost of the new batteries?

Nice! I’ve looked at the F65 and F2 Pro. You’re right, they share a lot with the G2. Segway really does have a solid lineup of scooters. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track of them all because they have so many haha.
Day 7 with mine, 50 miles in and love it.
That’s awesome! It’s such a smooth riding scooter.
Mine’s motor makes a noise is this normal? th-cam.com/users/shorts0UG-V0g6BI8?si=zX7WCotOJYfWuTIl
@@JoeDplummer_ I agree with you, the throttle response is bad. I wish i could
Change the throttle algorithm from speed-control to power-control.
Just ordered one last week. Will be here Monday. I’m stoked. :)
Congrats and enjoy! Definitely an excellent choice 😎
how is it now?
how is it now?
I still love it. Excellent ride. Only have 150 miles on it. Latest firmware fixed my biggest complaint (sometimes regen/accel can be a little jerky… latest update completely fixed)
There is allways a compromis between 1- price 2- range 3- wight 4- range 5- speed 6- durability etc
So may be you can buy a fastar but it will be a less range or higher weight.
It can be a longar range, but not so fast and higher weight.
Or it can be Max G2 that overall for daily rides a greate scooter at his price point.
I just bought 2 of them, (for me and my 12y son) after few days of market searching. And that what I understood.
Defenitly recommend
You’re absolutely right. The G2 has a great balance of all the major categories. Congrats on your new scooters and have fun!
I love my G2...wish it was maybe 5 to 10 lbs lighter, had a louder horn and maybe the turn signal buttons repositioned so you dont hit them by mistake but other than that I would definitely recommend it others.
Yah I really enjoy mine as well. Agree on the signal buttons haha. I’ve hit the horn by mistake way too many times 🤣
Another great video. 😎👊
Thanks man! It's been on my to do for a while. Now let's see if I can get this to 1k miles haha.
I got one few months ago. Super fun to ride.
Nice! Yah, definitely fun to cruise around on :).
Hi. İs your max g2’s motor makes a noise like this? Is this normal? Because it’s not like regenerative braking.

Did you try the new boost mode? Its gives you a much better acceleration, you have to re do your hill climb test.
The update finally became available to me and I installed it yesterday. Definitely an upgrade haha. I will be redoing some of my tests :).
I've had my eye on this for a year. Also in the PHX metro so this video finalized it. I'm getting one.
That’s awesome! Good news is that I’ve taken the G2 out on hot days in the middle of the Summer and have yet to have an issue with overheating. Overall a great scooter. Have fun!
I was just about to buy the scooter but after seeing that crazy Phantom breaking going down the hill never mind 😮
Where did you buy the mirror?
I purchased it from Amazon amzn.to/3s0oPme (affiliate link). The arm is long which helps extend the mirror out as far as possible. I’ve been using this mirror for about a year now with no issues.
Any attachable seat for this segway max g2?
I’ve only seen one on AliExpress. It appears to have an orange/yellow storage box built into it.
Bro please Where did you buy the mirror?
When you charge the scooter mine beeps and stays on the display and the back brake light is flashing red slowly is that normal when charging ?
Yup, that’s normal. When it’s done it’ll all go dark.
When it’s charging it okay for the screen to be on. It’ll turn off automatically when done. I’ve personally never had an issue.
I tried go out with 70% pretending to give me 13mi , and just finish with 3.5m
I will definitely get it back and ask for this G2, i want that 20mi at last! Thanks
Thanks for your comment. I was thinking about buying "NINEBOT KS MAX G2 E" next week. I'm 210lb. I am expecting a range of 18 to 20 miles minimum for 90% charge. What do you think?
Do you know if there is a scooter where you can carry a spare battery and swap it over to get extra range?
So there are scooters that allow that. For example, the Rictor S9 or the Ausom Gallop. There are others as well. The question is how much weight are you willing to carry? The Gallop has a massive heavy battery so likely not a great option. The S9’s is more manageable.
TurboAnt also has a line of scooters with swappable batteries.
@@tomsgadgetgarage many thanks, I'll check them out!
@@kymbo72 one other thing, make sure they sell spare batteries haha. That’ll be important. I know TurboAnt does as does Segway ES4.
@tomsgadgetgarage great thanks. Or alternatively are there any recommendations for scooters with long ranges....maybe 80km (actual range, not the "claimed" range 🙂)
Can I know what phone holder you are using on your scooter ? Just bought the G2 and looking for a phone holder for it
Hey! I use this one. It has a quick-release clamp, which makes it easier to put on and remove when needed. amzn.to/3VFmxVR

great scooter did 1600km so far and still counting, the only minus is that the europe version only is limited to 25km an hour
That’s awesome. Yah the Max G2 has held up well for me as well. I do wish all regions had the option to go 35kmh, especially when you get on the wide open road.
What kind of lube do you use on the suspension?
I use white lithium grease for the rear coil springs where there’s metal on metal contact. WD-40 makes a white lithium grease spray can.
Will i be ok with being 240 lbs riding this scooter on level ground
You should be fine at 240. It has a capacity of 265, so lots of buffer. You’ll likely get a bit less range and acceleration, but nothing drastically different. Plus they are now releasing their latest firmware which increases power output.
@@tomsgadgetgarage I'm 240. Test rode this scooter yesterday. It's a beast.
I got mine for 679e in May 2024, with taxes
Right now bro
Hi tom, do you think this scooter is good for teenagers?
Hello! I believe Segway says it’s appropriate for riders 14+. Lots of room to grow into this scooter.
What you think about this and wsett 8 for up hills? Thanks.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Thank you so much. I’m glad it isn’t a defect. Have a nice evening.
La suspension las puedo Lublicar ? Aceite ? Grasa ? WD40 ? Aceite
There’s a White Lithium Grease WD-40 that works well.
How well does the toilet-attachment work?? I always wanted to take'a dump at 19mph.. #AntsMarching
LOL!
How fast does it go at the end of the battery
Hey! Sorry for the delay. I did another range test with the G2 back in March. At 13% battery, I could still hit 18mph. Hope that helps.
Can you please make a video on the Ride1UP Portola just like the videos you've done for the XP 3.0? Thank you
Hey! I’ll definitely look into it. Seems like they’ve got a pretty solid lineup of bikes.
Where did you buy the upgrade battery it is 48v
So my G2 is stock, so no extra battery on mine. There are videos of people upgrading to higher voltage batteries, but I personally haven’t done anything like that.
As far as weather is concerned, am I doomed if this gets wet?
You shouldn’t have any issues riding in the rain with the IPX5 rating. I actually accidentally rode mine during a huge rainstorm. Wish I got it on video haha.
would you say the G2 or the G30 is more reliable? thx
The G30 has been around longer than the G2. It also has fewer moving parts (no suspension). Because of that, I’d give it to the G30.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Appreciate the info! If you had to pick, would you choose suspension over reliability?
Honestly, I’d choose the suspension for comfort if I had to choose between the G2 and G30.
Is it good for using public transportation isnt it too bulky?
Congrats! Let us know how it goes!
Can i take it into supermarket, barber shop and train? Or is it too big, 🥺
It’s doable but it is quite heavy. You’d honestly be better off with something lighter.
I usually have it in the supermarket with me, and I carry the shopping basket on it. For this purpose the old G30 was better since the scooter on stand is not as tilted, but it works.
300 miles and i LOVE IT
That’s awesome! It’s definitely a fun and comfortable scooter to zip around on.
Would you happen to know where i could pick up a mirror like the one you use? TIA
Hey! So this is the mirror I use. It’s got the longest arm I could find with this style mirror. amzn.to/3s0oPme (affiliate link). It’s held up really well so far. Just make sure to position any mirror you get as close to the end of the handlebar as possible for best visibility.

Yup, shouldn’t have a problem at all.
Hi, great video. Did you check your G2 for play on front suspension? If youre not sure what Im talking about reply and Ill forward you link to a video about it.
So if I hold the wheel between my feet and turn the handlebar, there’s about 1-2mm of play.
@@tomsgadgetgarage yeah, thats it. Really concerning thing to me.
So the good news is that it hasn’t changed for me since I got mine back in June 2023. Same amount of play. I personally can’t feel it while riding and haven’t experienced any instability because of it.
@tomsgadgetgarage I did get wobble over bumps when I was doing a range test on it.
They need to make and update and let it go 24/25 mph
Yah I’ve noticed many times as soon as it hits 22mph it drops the power, so it’s definitely capable of more. It’s likely a balance between speed and range.
This or Apollo air? I sold my vsett after I broke my wrist & arm & loookikg for one like this.
I would get the Max G2 over the Air if the extra weight is a non issue for you. More power and full suspension which is very comfortable.
i think its an old design, my max g2 is from 2024 and i have a plastic cover for the back (backlight) cable. i think they improved it :)
I’m glad to hear they fixed it. It was crazy that they made such a tank of a scooter with such an obvious vulnerability.
thx for the review! have you heard about any charging issues?
So if you ride the scooter for a while then immediately try and charge, it may not work. The controller/battery in the scooter has to get down below a certain temp before it lets you charge. I wait 30 minutes to charge after riding.
I have heard some people having issues with charging unrelated to that, but it’s not something I’ve experienced.
Mines done 580km and its got a charging issue wont charge past 80pc and the other day was riding it and it just turned off and i couldent start it again. 😢 its been a really great scooter up to that point and i suppose there is always a lemon in every group

Thanks for your comments Tom. Will try the test you mentioned.
Stiffen the shocks on the rear more . I weigh 100kg and never had that issue. I stiffend mine right up from the get go.
Hi, Tom.
Hello!
Tf was that sponsored ad before the video💀💀💀😭
This isn’t a sponsored video. Purchased this scooter cash, as I do with about 50% of the products I review. This is probably the 15th video I made on this scooter lol. You were probably seeing a TH-cam ad.
G2 has battery issues.
What kind of battery issues?
It overheats when you ride long. I'm 220lbs and I've had mines for 4 months. I commute 6 miles to work with my scooter. I'm on my 3rd battery
It is for overheating when doing long distance
Get the Apollo Air for superior Samsung battery cells and also better IP Rating!
That’s really unfortunate. At three batteries, I wonder if maybe something else is going on with the controller? Did Segway cover the cost of the new batteries?
I have the same shirt
It’s a nice shirt haha!
this is the new Tesla scooter. I love it. 🥰
After waiting over 8 weeks to get repaired and still no sign of when I an getting it back never buy segway again
Wow 8 weeks is ridiculous. Any idea what’s wrong with it?
Was told a couple of weeks ago that it had a corroded wire on the battery charger
Yikes. Did water somehow get in there or maybe a quality control issue?
@@tomsgadgetgarage yes i have no idea as only going off what the repair shop said to the place i bought it from
But it is now 9 weeks today found out yesterday the parts turned up at the repair shop on the 20th so hopefully in the next couple of weeks i will get it back have a wonderful day
@@abskondawhitsundays4052dude is your max g2’s motor makes a noise like this? İs this normal or not? Because it’s not like regenerative braking noise.

By adding these modes you've created the most boring scooter I've ever seen lol
Haha. Yah I test a bunch of accessories as well, that’s why different ones showed up at different times.
@@tomsgadgetgarage oh that makes sense haha
Love the video btw. Keep uploading!
I ordered one today morning 🥹🇷🇺👍
Congratulations! Definitely an excellent scooter. Have fun 😊
@@tomsgadgetgarage thanks 💯🔥
