I’m a professional dog groomer, and the Chris Christensen brushes are absolutely worth the investment!!! I wish all of my pet parents with doodles owned the long pinned slicker brush. I have a large mixed breed with a double coat and long furnishings (similar to a Newfoundland), and it’s great for removing undercoat.
Hello! I agree the right tools make all the difference! I too love the long pinned slicker (the Big G). and use it all the time on everything! Thanks for your feedback! Stay Safe.
@@nazalinemonterroso5580 personally I test a slicker on my skin lightly before I buy it. Chris’ brushes tend to be soft and the bristles fairly well rounded. The technique for brushing is more of a pat and lift instead of a hard drag. I work small sections slowly lifting hair, it is called line brushing. Than I go behind where I brushed with a comb to catch any hidden tangles. You never want to use a scraping motion with a slicker areas like the rear of legs and tummy is tender so use very light strokes.
I love nice short to the tutorials like this one. I'm getting to where I won't watch many video's because too many channels talk too much because are trying to get more "watch time".
Thanks for this video it makes sense, I have a havanese who has a very cottony coat that is hard to look after. I currently use a slicker brush but a small one, the larger slicker would be much better for his long coat. What brands do you recommend.
I'm a soon-to-be Keeshond mom and I'm doing research on how to maintain and groom their coat. Does anyone know where can I buy the proper brushes in Canada?
Hello! We suggest you use Wheatley Wares, they have amazing customer service and if you use the code LEDSA they give you 10% off! Please tell them we sent you and check out our courses at leadingedgedogshowacademy.com
@@LeadingEdgeDogShowAcademy amazing!! Thank you so much for the advice! I love your grooming videos. I've never had a dog with a double coat before so I want to make sure I get the best for my baby! I also want to control all the fur and shedding as much as possible 😅. Would you agree with brushing your dog everyday? Or every other day? Can you ever "over-brush" a long haired dog? I just don't know if brushing everyday will irritate their skin? But then I think of we humans brush our hair at least twice a day so that could be the same for dogs too right? Maybe it's a silly question😅
@@ceemc859 Hello I do agree it can be confusing, but if you are brushing properly (remember to never brush dry coat always lightly mist it) and using the correct tools and techniques I do not think you can over brush. Some people even say regular brushing increases coat growth which I do bath my double coated dogs twice as much during coat change to encourage new growth, so the brushing analogy makes sense to me. Let me know if you have any other questions or feel free to email me at allison@leadingedgedogshow.com.
@@LeadingEdgeDogShowAcademy great! Thank you so much! It's hard to find Keeshond specific videos and tutorials for their care but I'm sure any Spitz and double coated dog videos can be relatable. Thank you so much for all of your info! It's so helpful
