Those are some well-planned planner covers - wow! You did customize things that I didn't even think about could be customized 😅But the pen loops - I'm so sad about that. I have to agree that they would look better with the Janet brown. But I hope you still love your covers - they are beautiful 😍
I didn’t even think about the pen loop leather at the time I ordered. Honestly I like the undyed on the passport - I think bc it’s small and the stitching is contrast the contrast pen loop is cute. But on the A5 I do wish I’d had the forethought to get that pen loop exterior matching. But I will on my next one for sure. But I love ❤️ them both anyways! Thanks for watching. 🥰
I know it’s a year later but I wanted to thank you for this video. I’m ordering rings however I was really looking for a video that showed Janet Leather Brown outside with Janet Leather Undyed inside, plus what color stitching would look good. I was going back and forth with doing this, or Janet Leather Brown inside and out, however after seeing your video I’m going to do Undyed inside. (The Velvet Sand looks gorgeous as well btw) Anyway, point being, surprisingly there are very few videos I could find showcasing these contrasting colors! By very few I mean 2 😂So, yes, thanks so much! Edit: you did a great job explaining everything
I’m so very glad it was so helpful! VDS covers are amazing but so pricey. Worth it but it’s a lot of stress to make decisions. Took me so long. I’m still pondering my next one a year later! Yay for your ring planner! I have two from them in their RTS (got videos on both) and they are so nice. Wanting an undyed now!
Thanks 😊 I like it on the passport. On the A5 I’d rather it match - to be less noticeable and also bc the velvet sand is so sensitive. But I still love it!
I didn’t spray mine either, and they are changing so beautifully. My interior velvet sand still looks and smells brand new. I don’t use the pockets as much as I thought I would. My next dream is the JL dark brown or burgundy. I can’t decide between the 2. I am going with a codex. With the high customizations I’m getting it most definitely will be a birthday and Christmas gift, just like my two this year were. Thank you for sharing S! Love you my friend.
Super excited about getting the Common Planner by Sterling Ink too! I hope you video an unboxing when you receive it. 😍😍😍 What is the difference between the codex and the nomad? Thank you for the video!!
Yes I will definitely be doing a video on it when it comes! I can’t wait! A Nomad has elastics - it’s basically a TN whereas the Codex is like a folio - no elastics and meant to hold bound books. So they sell ring planners, the nomad for TN inserts and Codex for bound books. And they come in different size offerings - the Nomad comes in Standard/narrow, pocket and (now) passport. The Codex comes in A6, B6, A5, Weeks, and Mega Weeks size. Depending on your customizations you can hybrid the nomad and codex so you can use it for a combo of inserts and bound books or change back and forth when you want. So for example there’s an add-on option to customize a Codex and add elastics to it.
Its from PaperRepublic. I have several and LOVE them! They a little pricey but they are leather and are magnetic and totally worth it! Best removable pen loop I've ever bought. It stays put --- doesn't budge at all but easy to move if you want to put it on another planner or journal. www.paper-republic.com/en-us/products/le-loop-penholder
Sure! I'll do my best to help. Foam is a piece of thin foam that's placed between the two pieces of leather that create the back of the planner - so it adds squish and a little thickness. A lot of RTS covers have foam added - I personally don't like how it feels - I like to feel the leather and want the natural squish. Stiffner is used to make the cover firmer - it's basically a piece of cardboard placed between the outside and inside leather that form the back of the cover. I personally don't like the firmness this creates and how it feels. For me it takes away from the feel of the real leather and makes the cover feel cheaper - more like something you'd buy at Michaels or off Amazon. Bontex is a fiber board - its similar to the cardboard in concept but its more flexible and thinner. Bontex can be full bontex which is a full sheet added between the outside and inside leather that form the back of the cover or a frame where it's a square with the center cut out. At a minimum you have to have the frame - it gives them the structure they need around the edge to sew the planner together. I personally prefer the frame because you don't feel it at all and its just the feel of beautiful leather and you have more natural flop to the cover. Some leathers can't have just a frame because they are too floppy but they can guide you on that. And when you order a Nomad or Codex the default is a full Bontex sheet so if you want just the frame you'd have to request that. I'm sure you can order Foam or Stiffner too but never asked as I'd personally never want those in mine :) Petra has a video too sharing the differences on some of the above. It might help too. @@JustScribble WOW! Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. This is very helpful 😊 I agree with all your points and I too prefer the feel of the natural leather without stiffeners or foam. I love floppy leather ❤️ Thanks for sharing the link to the other video.

I always get a second popper too. Keep forgetting to move the pen loops up. Great idea to put the nomad layout on both sides!

Oh a dark JL or burgundy sounds amazing! I would love them to have a JL leather that’s between undyed and JL brown. That would be my dream!
@@JustScribble I forgot about mustard. Have you seen the JL mustard? It’s a nice shade of yellow. I forgot to add that to my list too 😂
