Gala Concert 2021 | Afghanistan National Institute of Music

The Afghanistan National Institute of Music is pleased to present the virtual Gala Concert of 2021 in memory of all pioneering Afghan female musicians from the past and present history of Afghanistan. This special hour-long concert features a variety of ANIM ensemble performances of works or arrangements that are composed or performed previously by Afghan female artists. This themed concert culminates with an original composition 'Dawn' for cello and orchestra, composed by the talented cello student, Meena Karimi, and conducted by a senior piano student, Arson Fahim. This mesmerizing work is a timely dedication to the women of Afghanistan, and represents their struggle for justice, equality, and freedom with the hope that comes with a new dawn.
Though this year's Gala Concert could not be held in person due to ongoing covid-19 concerns and restrictions in Afghanistan and throughout the world, ANIM is proud to once again demonstrate its commitment to the empowerment of young emerging musicians of the country through this recorded concert that will continue to be aired by various media channels and impact thousands of Afghans who will watch it. We hope that this concert represents the persevering and brave spirit of our students and the musicians of Afghanistan.
