For this quick lesson, I used my simple drawing pencils and a sketchbook to convey a few concepts and techniques regarding edges and shading. Most beginners draw objects with no shading and only hard lines and this creates a cartoony appearance. By softening some of your edges in key locations and using some shading techniques, you can bring your drawings and simple sketches to the next level.

I'm really loving these videos, so helpful to understand the concepts of sketching/drawing instead of just going in blind, not knowing where to start. Very, very helpful. I just finished all the how to draw's video and I have nothing to say but thanks so much for all your effort, the sketching, editing and uploading process that most people don't realize takes to create a great TH-cam channel like yours. The way you teach is college level or even more, really great explained and I appreciated you don't forward your videos. I'd love to see more and if you're out of ideas, let me give you some: - How to draw water - fire - glass (I really wanna learn how to draw glass). How to draw better backgrounds like Castles, cities, skyscrapers or things like architecture style... How to draw in 3D with perspective, I know you already made a perspective video but I'd love to see a further and deeper video into it. How to draw anatomy both In humans and animals, flesh, bones, etc. I hope you make more videos even if they only explain how to draw hands ( which is complicated to me) but of course what you've done so far is worthy to any beginner like me. Thanks a lot man. Its been years since I started wanting to learn how to draw but I never really started and tried for real. I usually made some really bad draws without any theory knowledge of it. Really like the videos! I like the NON examples, like with the nose. Could you show that first then take it from the non to the correct version with the values? I'm a newbie and trying to get the fundamentals. I'd like to draw trout eventually.

great instruction tuts,, my suggestion for me, et.al., is to have a series of specific drawing exercises, e.g., for example, you draw a line, we draw a line, next you have a series of shading examples, we copy you, it really is shading, i truly like the short instruction vids.
is there any book out there explain core shadow principles hard-soft-firm-lost edge in depth ? and thx for the video
