    Gable Stevenson. Dude was hyped up to be the next Kurt Angle. His first match was a disaster and people was cheering for Baron Corbin instead of him.

      And he was made as the next Kurt Angle which was bs. He also kept on leaving delaying his debut to focus on collegiate wrestling. He did not want to even put effort for pro wrestling. They also signed him 1 year in advance and released many other far talented wrestlers

      @@ScarysReviews I really liked Glacier, but I have a hard time thinking of someone in wrestling with a straight up Martial Arts Striking style making it big in Pro Wrestling. Mordecai/Kanyon worked because his style branched out, I just never felt that Glacier had any longevity to him other than I really dug his look and Style at the time.

      Yup. Big hype and they screwed him over. He had started potential because he already had made it in TNA beforehand. Politics did him in. Lars Sullivan is another that comes to mind since he was part of the call ups from NXT with Lacey and EC3

    I disagree with Mabel not being a waste because he wound being booked as KOTR and also went on to be henchman for Taker in Ministry. He wasn't a major player, but he didn't get released immediately. People still remember big Vis and he's a part of the attitude era. The others I agree

    If only the Mordecai character was brought on 5 years earlier in 1999 it could of been featured as the "Higher Power" storyline they were doing for the Undertaker and his Ministry of Darkness stable rather than Vince McMahon.

      I mean he was the biggest wrestler in Mexico at the time and he was excelent in CMLL as the Mystico character, i thing the biggest problem is that he didn't adpated well at the WWE style, in Mexico everything is higly coreographed and it has almost 0 improv, i what were the reasons, maybe he didn't want to adapd or the debuit was rushed and didn't let him adapt, whatever was the reason it showed he wasn't ready to wrestle in the WWE style.

      His career has finally recovered and he's doing well internationally again. So good for him I suppose.

      Morrison was and probably still is incredible. Haven't seen him in a few years. But he never had the promo ability to do one of WWE's endless rambling 20-minute TV promos that they love so much. So he never got a real chance.

    Don't forget The Masterpiece Chris Masters, The Narcissist Lex Luger and Arab American Mohammed Hassan. They were hyped before making their respective debuts and there were even talks of them becoming champions but did not materialize. Although in Hassan's case, it was due to the similarities between his character and terror attacks.

    I can speak for myself and say Lacey got over with me. She was something unique - the classy character, the outfits, and her in-ring work was genuinely good.

      Her early booking certainly did her no favors. She wouldn't wrestle in actual matches. They had her just strut around the ramp and wave. And then she got put into the title picture against Becky after just a couple of wins and not much build up. She really could've used a little more time in NXT, too.

    My dad took me to the KOTR when Mabel won. I was 7 or 8 and still remember wondering what the hell they were doing with him winning. I remember looking at my dad and asking so Savio or Mabel are going to be the king of the ring? It is bad when you let down an 8 year old who still thought the undertaker was a dead guy.

      I was 13 at the time and had the same reaction watching at home. Then the following month Mabel ran Diesel into the ring post during the main event lumberjack match. And I remember thinking, "oh, this is going to be the SummerSlam main event huh?" 😮‍💨

    I admit, I thought Snitsky was pretty cool. He's kind of embrace the comedic part of his character now and enjoys fans recognizing him for it. I saw an interview he did about a year or so back. IIRC he's running a physical therapy / exercise business, has gotten married, and is completely happy. Props to the big guy!

    Lil Uzi Vert, Wrestlemania 39. His performance was particularly underwhelming, and apparently they were supposed to bring him back to wrestle at WM40 but it fell through.

The fact that they kept trying with people who were just big but didn't have anything else to offer is mind-blowing. The audience had clearly shifted away from that, and yet they kept trying.

    I didn't think Lacey was bad in the ring. I thought she was solid. She had great matches in NXT & on the main roster & she had a good gimmick when it came to being the Sassy Southern Belle. I actually found Lacey believable as a contender for the women's title. I also didn't think Curtis Axel was a bad wrestler either. I think he had some Charisma & he was good in the ring but WWE should've given him the name Curtis Hening like similar to his father & they should've given him a different manager. As for Ted DiBiase the only child thing about him was his theme song.

      She had the exact career I predicted for her when she was in NXT. She couldn't wrestle and was clearly nowhere near as good as the other girls around her in NXT. Yet she got multiple chances because she was a tall, leggy blonde with fake boobs. Before they realized she just didn't have it and fired her. Just as I predicted would happen.

      I wouldn't blame the company or the creative team every time a wrestler fails to make it big. Sometimes the wrestler just don't have "it". Something about them is lacking. Like they are just not captivating or appealing to the fans. Also, not everyone is meant to be a star.

    Jones actually had potential as a performer which his acting career showed. They just pushed him onto the main roster without any training, so that is on WWE.

    still does have a great career as an actor. another wrestler to come to
    mind is Lars Sullivan and Odyssey Jones. their wresting careers tanked
