What are those two loads you have on the bench at the 8:00 mark?

I found a review that claimed that the excessive heating was largely due to the inferior quality power transistors used in this device - and that this could be easily fixed by some DYI replacement using good quality 2SC5002 or 2N3055. I don't have the electronics background to validate this claim myself but it would be interesting to know if such a supposedly inexpensive hack might indeed benefit the device.

I can't say much about the quality of the factory power transistors and they may very well be of poor quality, but I don't think there is much to be gained from replacing them. Because their basic job is to generate heat, they take access power from the transformer which you don't want at the output and turn it into heat. The amount of heat they produce is mostly determent by the output voltage and amperage not their build quality. Should the factory power transistors break you can replace them with better ones, but the power supply won't be any cooler because of it.

but this is supposed to be a linear powersupply why it has such a ripple? can you suggest a good linear power supply which costs under 80euro ?

Hi ! thank you very much indeed for you precious video. Actually i am looking for a dual power supply at least +/-30VDC but with low ripple. Do you have any recommendation ? i will be using it for powering some audio stereo line preamp projects i have in mind. Kindest regards, gino
