In my opinion, nobody in the industry outside of some custom builders, has better paint and chrome than Harley.

I buy old junk and make it nice again. I really love seeing a Harley for sale with neglected paint. A little polish and buffing and they always come back to beautiful. That’s a testament to quality paint.

I want to personally thank you for helping me become a better rider. Practiced what you preach in your videos and will continue to do so. Was always nervous to ride a heavy motorcycle due to maneuvering but your videos prove they can do low speed maneuvers with ease. Love my Road Glide. Thanks for the reviews they are very helpful.

Thanks for the test drive. You've confirmed what I've felt about my '19 Road Glide Special. Nice to get an opinion from someone who knows what they're talking about.
Also, thanks for the course, (l took it and learned a lot), and the videos. Great contribution to the motorcycle world.
    Keep on keeping on...

I tested one of the 2020 Roadglides. I owned an 05 about 10 years back. I will say the new Roadglide is probably the first factory HD touring bike I did not feel like the handlbars needed to be changed right off!
They are the best I have ever felt on a factory tourer!

Without your videos I wouldn’t have ever thought that I could ride a Harley touring bike. I am a fan for life. I also have a 2016 Vulcan S. If you ever get a chance to review one, please do. I think it is a great option for a lot of people. God Bless.

Counter Balancer!!! That is how the M8s are so smooth. Harley actually tuned back in some vibration as the focus groups said it just didn't feel like a Harley . So the dialed in 25% of the vibration. I love my M8 , have owned a 17, 19 and now 20!! Thanks for the excellent review.

Nice overview Jerry. I have a ‘16 RG CVO AND LOVE IT. You mentioned this and I believe you’re right about clutch control during slow speed maneuvering. Not sure why the cable clutch makes it easier. The Air flow on your body...the vents inside the fairing works wonders to help cool.
    Thanks again.

Outstanding Jerry! You did it again.
Thanks for pointing out the crucial handlebar position. I was impressed on how clean & neat the handlebars were with no scuzzy cables or wires.
And your comments 'bout the frame mounted fairing made me think of that pioneer Craig Vetter. The MCY industry owes alot to his vision and engineering prowess. In fact I'd go as far to say that Vetter is the God-father of the luxo touring bike especially the Honda Gold Wing.
Thanks again for another excelkant video. Stay Safe at Any Speed!~ General T.

Mine is just black and chrome and it was a fancy pearl white when I got it, and not a minute later after riding it into my living room off the trailer new I stripped it down for re spray and exhaust. Thanks for your videos on here, they help alot with riding and practicing even if its just a half hour or fifteen minutes in an empty lot. I was doing figure of 8's and 18ft uturns earlier today and a town policeman drove past me and nodded, was a cool moment while I was trying to get the slow speed stuff down

I'm 5' 6", so I want too quickly put down my feet when I come to a stop. Then again all the bikes mid pegs on them.

Hey Jerry, hope you and your wife enjoyed a nice Fourth of July this year. In mid April of this year I purchased my first touring bike. I had an 2006 Heritage that I really loved. Decided it was time to move up to a touring model. Four Rivers HD in Paducah, KY. Was great! I had never ridden a motorcycle with a fairing. I rode a street Glide and Ultra with the bat wing and a 2020 Road Glide Special, and 2018 Road Glide with the shark nose fairing. Both were great in my opinion. The stationary mount of the Shark Nose fairing was SERIOUSLY A NON ISSUE! I thought I would have a hard time turning through intersection and the parking lot, no Sir, kept my head and eyes turned, no problems. I also noticed that on the interstate or a state highway, when meeting a semi or dump truck, I did not get the whole wind blown shake effect I did on my heritage, and it was minimal with the bat wing, not much though in my opinion. I, like you, found the Road Glide growing on me, ALOT! I really loved the look. I went with the 2018 Road Glide, BLACK, and since April I have added a Black tour pack and all Black docking hardware, and black handle bars. Next will most likely be the TAB PERFORMANCE with ZOMBIE BAFFLES... My first Black bike, I love it. When you added your tab slip ons, did you get the tuner or have it turned or just put em on a run it?! I've been told by some I need a tuner in order for it to run right others say put em on and go! It's the 107 M8. Your thoughts on this please?
    Thank you for your videos!

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  4 ปีที่แล้ว

I have the Tab 4'' with the medium baffles on My Road King and felt I did not need a tune. My wife's bike with the 4.5 and the Zombie baffles, I felt did need a tune as I could feel a loss of low end torque. If you're past warranty or have the extended warranty, go with the Vance&Hines tuner. It works great and gives you many more options than the Harley tuner and it's less money. Plus, it's a plug and play unit.

I still can't quite get used to the look of the Road Glide, but that's one gorgeous looking bike.
It's close to $40.000 in The Netherlands, what with the VAT (21%) and Vehicle Registration Tax (20%). That would eat up all my budget for a new bike. I guess I'll stick with the Road King Special, and spruce it up with a Stage II TQ kit, luggage rack, LED lights, Öhlins rear shocks, and apes, which would bring me to about the same price.

M8 smooth and powerful, It's the reason I went with a 2012 Polaris Victory cross country over a Harley. 4 valves per cylinder, self adjusting hydraulic lifters, oil cooler and gear driven primary. Harley's were lacking and costlier then. That RG is off the chain. I want quiet, smooth and comfortable as a stable mate, Honda Goldwing DCT is in my future.

Nice bike, looks very decent and not overstated.
I'm always impressed when a manufacturer hits the mark that is seats & suits (pun intended) various other rides for position, handeling and fairing.
Some other major brands could learn a thing or two from HD in that arena. (read: note the ton of aftermarket-seat adjusters and handlebar adjusters for those other brands)
Did the clutch sounded a bit clunky at times?
AFAIK HD's are smooth shifters with butter-soft & excellent clutch control.

Love it! Lately you’ve ridden and reviewed a couple of frame mounted fairings, the 18 Gold Wing Bagger and BMW K1600B. You mentioned liking the looks of those two Bagger style motorcycles. It makes sense then that this Road Glide with it’s Shark nose fairing would grab you too. I have to agree 100% that Harley’s paint is second to none. Gorgeous! The nice thing about a Harley Davidson is it’s commitment to retaining it’s timeless classic good looks. Harley’s have been time tested to do just fine hauling down the many “miles of smiles”. Water cooling, if not careful, can change the characteristic of the V-Twin, so it will be interesting to see how HD goes about meeting the Indian Challenger’s knock on the door. If Indian can get their paint in order and somehow limit the abundance of plastic used it’d be a no brainer. At the end of the day though, whatever bike that makes you turn around for another look just before turning out the garage lights after a great ride confirms you made the choice. Great content as always Jerry. Ride safe and ride often. Peace.

On the 2020 you cant close the vents like previous years. My 2019 Roadglide ultra weighs 925 lbs. With fuel and oil. I can lean into corners with confidence compared to my cvo electra glide ultra. The steering is much lighter on the Roadglide.

The three things I did when I bought my 2020 Roadglide limited was order the two vents, heal shifter and and the extra fob.
Stage 2 torque cam, Rinehart header, Screamin Eagle mufflers with both H-D tuners (I wanted the wideband sensors) keep in warranty.
My favorite H-D in 35 yrs.
I need to be able to close the vents 3-4 months a year in New England. I’ll ride until the snow is on the road.

He said he is 5/7 and is flat footed at the beginning of the video! I dont know how thats possible when Im 5/7 too and with my 2019 RG special Im definitely not flat footed, Anyways, maybe they did lower the bike a little from last year, but I doubt it. I am use to not being flat footed now but would of preferred being flat footed. Anyways, I do love my RG, always loved the look of the RG :)

You didn’t make mention about any handling difference with the fixed fairing in comparison to the batwing fairing. Perhaps because there was none. I’ve heard/read on blogs about the fixed fairing on the Road Glide handling much better in windy conditions vs batwing on a Street Glide. Any truth about that. Thanks, I’m a follower and attended your class about 2 years ago. I watch all your videos. Great job.

I love Road Glides, but man Jerry your statement "if you are going to spend $27K then an extra $999 won't kill you" is just everything wrong with Harley today. RDR should be standard across the line in my opinion.

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That would just add to the price of the bikes. Every bike that has standard cornering ABS has had the price jacked up or production moved to a cheap labor country. There's no free lunch.

Not allowing test drives especially if one is willing to put a significant amount down is absolutely beyond ridiculous. I would never EVER buy a vehicle, especially a motorcycle which you absolutely MUST feel seating position, controls, bars, how it handles, brakes, etc, to know if it's right for you, without having a test ride. Gorgeous bike. I really like the eagle eye version graphics the best of the paint schemes. Also I think it's not well thought out that the touch screen is above the gauges. It should be the other way around so the screen is more easily accessible.
