I just bought the Echo SRM 410U to clear out some overgrown areas on my property. VERY capable tool. I'd reach for the chainsaw for what you just did, but it goes to show what these things are capable of, and you definitely have the use of it mastered. Cool demo.
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
Thanks for posting, I've had my eyes on these for years I think I may pick one up. Having the reach to get into what I call Bach bush would be a blessing.
Cool Video, I've cut down smaller trees with a weed whacker, but I've also cut up an already down tree, about that same size with the FS 90R Weed Whacker, it's amazing the things you can do with them.
Very nicely done. .. I just love your demonstrations, and how you show us the good and the bad. .. I love your channel. And I love seeing your family! Thank you for sharing.
Hope this helps...everyoney commenting on how dangerous a clearing saw is and the kickback? Personally I feel much more comfortable using one than a chainsaw. One, just like a chainsaw they have a kickback zone which you avoid. Once you know how the saw behaves. You're set. Plus please remember they have 3 points of contact unlike a chainsaw. Your two hands, plus the harness. If your harness is fitted properly. Not hanging stupid loose. Then there's really almost no way the saw can hit you. The blade can't get near your body because it just pivots on the harness.
only if you dont understand it.. its going to kick to the right when you use the front or right side of the blade, use the left side of the blade like he was doing for most of the cutting and its just a controlled pull forward, even if you need to use the right side of the blade you just need to expect the kickback and be ready for it, it only lasts as long as the saws in the tree and if youre holding the saw properly the blade physically cant reach you.. the dangers only there when working in a team and the other person gets too close.. 10ft might look plenty far and usually is but a good kick back that wasnt expected or the operator gets put off balance and you could be swinging that blade 15ft behind you in a split second
Guess in a pinch but using a clearing saw to fell that size looks riskier then just grabbing your saw or axe. Especially with a round blade on that large diameter tree. Really cool to see the clearing saws capabilities can be pushed further then it’s appropriate applications.
the real danger is the tree falling in your head, but then again, this also can happen with a chainsaw. as for the machine, you have a lot of control even with kickbacks, because the shaft pipe is so long and you get a lot of leverage from those "motorcycle" handles.
I once talked to a doctor who works in an area where there are a lot of lumberjacks and she told me most "cut yourself" accidents with chainsaws she saw happen cutting thin undergrowth, not bigger trees. (cutting 8 * 2cm sticks at once). I agree brushcutter are much safer. BTW, did you ever try the Stihl "Häckselmesser" very nice for thicker grass, ferns and brambles IMO.
Ya definitely where it's thick and ya cut some and maybe don't take the time to clear, the chain can jump all over the place getting caught up in movable stems.
I enjoy watching you with the clearing saw, I have a Shindiawa S270 with a Scarlett 22 tooth blade and does it do a bang up job, anything 4 inch or smaller goes fast. I'm going to buy a purpose built clearing saw one of these days but for now it works
I need this for bamboo! I may just buy one complete IF I can find one. $$$ 🤤The reason is that the center hub must fit snugly or there will be wobbling or slipping. All my trimmers are cheapies with line spools and I just need to start the right way
@@ghettobikelife8833 I'm assuming you havent used this before... How easier to mess up? Seriously?! It's almost completely safe! I've tumbled forvard on this many times when clearing thick grown areas, you cant reach the blade, except when you reach to it when pushing the engine backwards. Try to explain me the dangers this design!
thanks for reminding me of this tool i have a lot os small saplings to cut out of my pastures most are around 1-2 inches in diameter it will save a lot of bending with the chainsaw and the reach will help me avoid the thorny branches
Simeon I sometimes wonder if some of the people/trolls who comment have actually watched & listen to the video?? AS always I find your videos good & instructional.
It gets dull fast... 350mm carbide tipped sawblade and bend teeth like on those basic ones he used.. But once you hit a bigger rock, your blade is ruined. Still, 30 bucks for a blade that may last for much much longer than the chisel blade.
Hello hello. Thanks for your videos. You are great guys. May you please tell me brushcutting as a job exists in Sweden or forest clearing (whatever it's called). Thanks
It goes easy with soft tree like aspen. Just for lol I did this once with birch twice as big was this young aspen. It works but it's not very efficient and safe. And it takes too much time. But is fun.
This just makes me feel inferior with my little FS55rc haha. Just another piece of equipment I'll have to save up for now I guess. Although I believe I can run the blades on my brush cutter, I don't think anything above the triangular three blade is actually recommended. Really though, I suppose I'm not always one to follow recommendations if I know what I'm doing...
That BRUSH CUTTER NOT WEED EATER is stronger than some chainsaws like the Stihl fs 170. The one he is using is the 480. Around 45cc. Want to see a very powerful weed eater, Stihl fs 560 c em, almost 60cc engine
I just use one of those tri type blades mulch with cuts down many small shrubs little pines few inches thick tree service I worked for used them for sewer right away clearing
How to reduce the life of your machine, the valves will weaken and eventually snap and end up in with the piston and if unlucky it will score the bore inside the engine block, chainsaws are for trees not grass cutters.
dark Shaman two strokes don’t have valves so maybe before you leave a stupid comment you believe is smart you should do some research so maybe you will have a idea of what your talking about. 👍
Kyle Brown hahaha it’s not a stupid comment, mine is also a 2 stroke but it got valves as it’s a 4 mix pmsl so nothing stupid about my comment So also 2 strokes got valves you idiot, it’s a 2 Stroke come 4 Stroke both in one its works on the 4 stroke concept but you put the oil on the petrol like a 2 stroke... And chain saws are for cutting trees strimmers are for cutting grass and ok for hedges if u got a km130... And funnily enough I took mine to bits the other week to change the valves and piston head so I know what I’m talking about... So I know you don’t know shit all about engines hahaha
I'd never try to cut down a tree with a brush cutter. Too much strain on the machine. The thing was made to trim lawns and some bushes. If I want to cut down a tree, I'll get a chainsaw. Still impressive tho.
For machine that is not started in months(if its true) u not rev engine like that as soon as u start it,but ofc ,how could u know that,is not like u working in forest.

That was interesting and a little scary. Thanks for the demonstration and the warnings! You and your brother are truly woodcutting pros.
I miss these videos at this time of year, very helpful
me: Mom i want a chainsaw!
Mom: No! We have a chainsaw at home.
Chainsaw at home:

Very glad you gave repeated cautions in this video. Yes very dangerous but in a dire dire situation it is good to know the skills. Thank you nice job.

There was no kick back what are you talking about.🤨
@@jerielbrown732 YOU STUPID!!!
Never used a brush cutter but plenty of time with chain saws. That thing cut through the tree like butter!
interesting what model stihl are you using?

Ya definitely where it's thick and ya cut some and maybe don't take the time to clear, the chain can jump all over the place getting caught up in movable stems.
And a fair number of those are probably from tripping while moving from cut to cut with the saw running.
Good job getting that tree down. Have done it often.

Thank you for the demonstration . That is an impressive tool. Dangerous also if not used correctly.
These weed eater attachment guys are getting just as out of hand as the resin and epoxy guys lol
laughing about same thing, people with weedcutters soon be trying this
Use to use a hydraulic version in a bucket truck, clearing right of way ,fun stuff.
The best clearing saw ever made.
Great demonstration of how to, and how not to. Thanks Simeon.
Looks way more dangerous than a chainsaw
How so?
Easier to mess up but it’s farther away from you

Swedish people: imma cut this tree down with a weed-eater

what was the name of this tree?
Expertly done!
Apparently nobody has ever used a beaver blade. I had a 8" and 12" for very heavy grass and brush.
Whatz a Beaver Blade, who makes it, and where could somebody buy one?

Used to do that from an old poulan with mod circular saw blade back my high school days and its Mesquite tree. Just happened to do it while weedeatin.

Have they made one of those tree cutting things with a chain?
Out of topic, but he kind of looks like Chandler from the tv show FRIENDS.
Jemaneeeee Christmas. That's FAST!!!!! Do you think that's hard on the brushcutter gearing? You did take your time.

very good... well done...
very Interesting, what Blade did you use? Its really cool!
Do you still have both legs?

that was a mighty thick weed!!! that's what happens when you let him grow too long. also still makes chainsaws too. might want to try one out

I'll stick to my little MS 170 for brush cutting, that thing looks a little too wicked for me, especially after a long day and I'm tired.

Sorry, but how many cc has it?
Ferdp 18090 Stihl 450. Around 45cc
Nice video.
I feel like a tree that size would be safer to take down with a small axe that one might have with them for that kind of clearing work anyway.
Thank You. Very informative.
Why didn't you warm the Stihl Up?!
He did.
How many herd the fox in the background
3:24 he starts cutting and 4:36 the tree falls. So 1m 12 seconds is the video length. Smh. 🤔
