    D Acres is a non-profit Permaculture Farm & Educational Homestead located in Dorchester, NH. D Acres researches, applies and teaches skills of sustainable living and small-scale organic farming. Striving to improve the human relationship to the environment, the center functions as a demonstration farm to role model exemplars of healthy living. Sharing a communal living situation, individuals come to respect and share values of interdependence and love of nature. In addition, the organization supports educational activities directed toward improving the quality of life of residents and the larger community.

    the compaction is an issue...we try and focus their activity to the uphill side of any enclosure and we move the location of our feeding areas to give some variety to their habitualization. wallows are leveled by hand after the pigs have vacated and we are preparing to seed...perhaps a tractor driven implement would be usefull in this leveling process if adverse to hand work...ultimately a drain shold be dug in the wallow so they do not contain/retain excess moisture though miniponds are nice.

    It's nice seeing animals other than chickens in a permaculture system that can be utilized for food for a change, I just don't get why their is a lack of animal husbandry in the permaculture scene, animals can be a sustainable source of food, specially when used for more than one purpose like demonstrated in this video.

    I never thought about using pigs to clear land like that. They are like little bulldozer's.
