Great video! Mine is due for an oil change. I have a question for you. I've heard from the local dealer these older models aren't very reliable. Maybe they just say that to get you to buy a new one... Have you come across any significant issues with them? My 2011 Sportsman 550 EPS been great, but I don't use it all the time.
So I've heard that too a couple times. But I feel it comes down to how you take care of them and keep up with the maintenance. I haven't seen a ton of problems but I don't work on a ton of these. Just a few.
Nice job. Yes I hate those filter wrenches too. Sometimes they are a bit loose and want to slip if the filter is tight. I have had success with 1-3 sheets of regular writing/copy paper put into the wrench to act as a this shim to tighten the fit between the wrench and the filter. I have also had success using one that is too small and shimming it with the cardboard on the back of a pad of yellow legal paper. All the best,
This was such a solid video, especially resetting mechanic hours and the extra grease zerk on the underside. Thank you!

All the best,
What tires are on there? They look great, and I’m looking into new tires for my 550. Thanks!
unfortunately i dont remember! haha its been a while since i worked on that quad.
теперь понятно где слив, а то закрыто защитой, спасибо
Thanks, very good information.
What size was the “socket” you used to remove the oil filter?
its a universal oil filter claw. it can fit many different filters.
Good vid, thanks !
Do you have a video on changing the fuel pump? Does the airborne have to come off?
im sorry i don't have a video of that. we havent had to replace that on this quad yet.
@@Simpsons.R.S thanks. I'm going to order the service manual
On the oil filter install, i never wipe the mounting base off with a towel, i just put the new oil filter on with a thin coat of oil. Is that okay?
Ya thats fine. I'd say most people don't wipe it off. 👍
On the drain plug, i just reuse the washer that keeps the oil from leaking through the drain plug. Is that okay?
Ya you'll be fine. You can reuse it a good bit before it needs replaced
whats the torque spec for drain plug
Should be around 12 ft/lbs.
What size is your oil filter socket you used?
That's a good question, I got a set of them and usually dont look at the sizes. I just grab whatever fits. I'll check tonight and see
Any chance you found out the size?
Ran low on oil now it won't start
is that what happened to your machine?
