That's so true. I mean, you can still get a small amount of friendship points from just talking to them, but that takes such a long time. Making friendships in the game takes a while, and even giving an NPC a favorite gift doesn't even boost your friendship as much as it should. You can talk to them and give them a favorite gift, and they still hate you.
Tbf, if the new farmer in town occasionally came up to me and gave me something they grew from their farm for free or something they found while foraging/mining/fishing just because they thought I'd like it, I'd probably be more inclined to have a conversation with them.

Everything you put in the shipping bin gets sold by Mayor Lewis. So Lewis just skims profits off of selling your goods. If you sell to the shops, Lewis just collects taxes from them. The only way Lewis doesn't collect money is if someone trades outside of the businesses and the shipping box. So the notice board is the actual "fair" price of what you're making. So really, who paid for the Gold Lewis? You did. Congratulations.
