We bought all our seeds from Baker Creek this year. I probably planted my watermelon late but it's trying to grow. Only time will tell if it grows. I realize it's probably too late though. Will try again for sure next year.
I am growing 25 varieties this year. I have 45 varieties in seed. Im growing orange,yellow, white and red. Seeded and unseeded. All organic. Im in CT. So excited!
Just watched your live questions video. I am in my sixties and want to go off grid. So many have told me...you are to old! No I'm not! I'm healthy and very active, so you two helped me to not give up on my plans to go off grid! Thanks! I have learned so much from you!
wish i was there i love melons.i havent seen one ir heard of 1 in a long time is a sugar baby..last time was a farm road stand in south South Carolina .its a round very dark green and much better than a watermellon i feel..the best tasteting melons i feel are seeded. very dark red flesh

I love this video. I order from Bakers Creek and I love the magazine pictures, but this video was way more helpful in visualizing what will do well in my garden and what seeds I will order next year. Please do more like this! Great job!
My Grandpa grew the best watermelons in his sandy loam soil of lower Delaware. He use to take me out in the garden, pull out his pocket knife and cut a watermelon of the vine. Then tell me we were only going to eat the very best part...the heart. We'd stand there and eat the heart and then he'd throw the rest in his "trash" pile which I now know was his compost. I treasure my beautiful heritage of growers!!!
That must have been tough operating that camera with all of that wonderful watermelon being tasted in front of you. Always good to see Shannon with you guys on your videos.

Those look so delicious. I didn't get to try the watermelons. The line was too long and there was too much I wanted to see and talks I wanted to hear. Maybe next year!

My mouth is watering for melon. Just picked one up from the local fruit stand here in the California Central Valley and have it chilling now. Will definitely be growing some heirlooms next spring since I have unlimited growing space now.

I will ask my Aunt if she's heard of Art Combe. Her grandfather was John James Thompson, who came over from Ireland as a young boy and made his way to Arizona in the mid 1800s, and was the FIRST white settler in Oak Creek Canyon, Arizona. He homesteaded 300 acres that became known as Indian Gardens. In some indian ruins on their property the Thompson family found some ancient baskets with seeds that the archeologists said were older than 200 years old. My Aunt Ellen planted some corn seeds to see if they would still grow after being stored for so long. They did grow some very interesting corn, and had entered it into the county fair with the story about the seeds. Well, some low life thief stole all the ears of corn and the ribbons they had earned right off the display table! When J.J. Thompson found the land, he found that there were vegetables and fruits still growing after the Calvary moved the Indians to a reservation, so he was able to continue growing those ancient crops for his future family. Cool Expo!
Is Dixie Queen a good variety to grow? Can anyone answer that? I have some dixie queen watermelon seed a farmer gave me and I'd like to try it but I don't see much info or videos on it.
