Cried so much, thinking of the movie, their love, and watching the faces of these men who were so effected, obviously singing from experience. Thank you for posting this.
My friend is a super-conservative Catholic. I'm almost there. He loves the movie! My own experience was that when HL died, I mourned his loss in this way: I'd go to my favorite deep canyon in SC in any weather. Sometimes it was very cold, but I'd be there, alone, walking the dark trail in the evening, with the soundtrack in my headphones. After nearly two years, my broken heart started to mend. I wrote thank you letters to Jake G. and Willie N. And I could sing along with the cassette. My favorite is "The Maker Makes" by Rufus Wainwright. Didn't know his address. Wrote to Heath just before the Academy Awards. Told him his performance as Ennis was truly amazing, considering he had no models to emulate. Turns out he said he based Ennis on an ;uncle of his.
Wonderful harmonies and so professionally done! It is wonderful to see a gay space like a choir so inclusive of all types of men and AGES! Keep up the great work. Big Aussie hugs from London!
If you're anywhere near LA, please experience that vocal power in person! Our next concert, The California Sound, is the weekend of April 4-5. gmcla.org/gmcla3/gmcla-concerts-and-events/season-41-the-california-sound/
If a song or performance of that song or songs moves one to an uncontrollable emotion, whether that emotion be joy or sadness, laughter or tears it is in everyway priceless. This has accomplished that with me!! Now all I have to do is think of the beauty of these songs and this performance of them and my heart will swell and the tears will flow!! Thanks for posting!!
Graham thank you so much - and if you're in the LA area, please come to The Pink Carpet on June 23/24 at The Alex Theater where the Brokeback Mountain Suite will be presented again as part of our LGBTQ look at Hollywood's movie history!
Scott Sincoff Wx how awesome is that!! when is it and I will try to make it! Love knowing that Fargo has a GMC. I would join if I lived closer. I used to sing in a barbershop chorus.
A Love That Will Never Grow Old - GUSTAVO ALFREDO SANTAOLALLA - Go to sleep, may your sweet dreams come true Just lay back in my arms for one more night I've this crazy old notion that calls me sometimes Saying this one's the love of our lives 'Cause I know a love that will never grow old And I know a love that will never grow old When you wake up the world may have changed But trust in me, I'll never falter or fail Just the smile in your eyes, it can light up the night And your laughter's like wind in my sails 'Cause I know a love that will never grow old And I know a love that will never grow old Lean on me, let our hearts beat in time Feel strength from the hands that have held you so long Who cares where we go on this rutted old road In a world that may say that we're wrong 'Cause I know a love that will never grow old And I know a love that will never grow old
Hearing such a large ensemble sing with such passion and commitment and yet so softly that the sound is like soft breath on my cheek sent shivers down my spine. Do you guys ever come to Europe or do I have to come to LA? I deeply admire you and the music you make. Love from Luxembourg. ❤
The chorus did two European tours, one in 1991 (Copenhagen - Denmark, Berlin - Germany, Prague - Czechoslovakia (prior to the country separating into two), Vienna - Austria, and Budapest - Hungary) and another in 1999 (Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Helsinki, Talinn, and Berlin).
@@erfette49 Thank you. Are there any plans for another European tour anytime in the near future? Of not, I'll just come to LA. More love from Luxembourg. ❤😉👍❤
@@pauldunstan4495 I left the chorus after 23 years in 2016 because I moved to AZ. I'm still connected to the chorus and as of now there are no plans that I know of for it to do another European tour in the near future. The chorus made a trip to NYC to sing in a joint concert at Carnigie Hall with other choruses hosted by NYC Gay Men's chours and next year they along with hundreds of other choruses from this country and around the world will be attending GALA, a chorus music festival attended by gay, lesbian, trangender and youth choruses from this country and from around the world. It will be in Minneapolis, I believe. so, they have been busy and will continue to be busy with their current concert cycle and the festival. Hopefully there will be another European tour in the future. But in the meantime, feel free to fly to LA for one of their concerts and enjoy it and the SoCal area while you're there. Cheers!!! And thanks for your interest in this wonderful men's chorus!
And exactly how many gay choruses have you witnessed performing this song over and over again? And if you don't care for covers then you miss out on all the interesting interpretations arrangers and performers have to offer.
Wow! Can`t stop to hear this Medley. Also the other Songs from the GMCLA. Special the Its get Better-Song True Colours and He aint heavy, He´s my brother. Had Tears in my Eyes. Im very proud of you, Gents. I wish, we have a Choir like you here in Germany. But who knows, what will happen in the Future. Maybe i find one in Germany or i go to the US and supports you
Frederick, thank you so much - and if you're in the LA area, please come to The Pink Carpet on June 23/24 at The Alex Theater where the Brokeback Mountain Suite will be presented again as part of our LGBTQ look at Hollywood's movie history!

Ho visto il film quando è uscito al cinema e sono rimasta incantata. Ora ascoltando questo coro credo che ne sia il completamento. Vi abbraccio. Form italie

It was immediately obvious that you would be wonderful. But reality - the beautiful voices, filled with emotions, and the subtle instrumentation - goes beyond all predictions. It would be great if you performed in Central Europe.
This comes closer to serious choral music than most gay men's choirs do though. Sure, it may be the soundtrack to a gay movie, but the arrangement is pretty universal and pretty devoid of any trace of camp.
Chen Frank most large cities around the world have similar choruses, I know in the US there are gay choruses for major cities and perhaps even smaller cities/communities. Check a city near you, you may be surprised finding one so close to you! :) best wishes!

This makes me cry! I lost too many friends as well as my only true love to AIDS in the 1980’s. 😢😭😢😭😢
❤❤❤❤❤
Still the most memorable rendition of the the movie's songs ... truly sung from the heart .
i come form Vietnam when i was 18 i saw Brokenback Mountian i was obsessed with the movie's moving story especially the guitar sound in the movie

This is one of the most beautiful and poignant choir performances I have ever seen!

He was a friend of mine - Bob Dylan -
And he was a friend of mine
Every time I think about him now
Lord I just can't keep from crying
'Cause he was a friend of mine
He was a friend of mine
And he was a friend of mine
He died on the road
A thousand miles from home
And he never harmed no one
He was a friend of mine
And he was a friend of mine
He was a friend of mine
And he was a friend of mine
Every time I think about him now
Lord I just can't keep from crying
