first 3 movies were great.. james Dean, Marlon Brando type acting. they wanted him singing in all the movies. that was the end of continuing toward acting dreams.I have to admit, I would have wanted to hear him sing something no matter how good a script he had.. All his fans wanted that too. So we may be partly to blame.

I watched this movie just this morning on Circle TV. They’re showing a handful of his movies this week. IMO this was one of his best comedies because their chemistry was so great.

These were the sort of Hollywood type casting, that compounded his melancholy. Don't get me wrong, his delivery is as always 100% spot on, funny and charming. But boy, did he hate being trapped doing these vanilla movies. 🥃👍

I still say that Elvis would have been a better Tony in Westside Story and would have killed it in True Grit but even his cookie cutter movies most were at least entertaining which is more than can be said for films nowadays.
