What a brilliantly put together video. You detailed travel report covered everything from app check in through to the suggested waiting time at jfk to go through immigration. Excellent
Nice mention of the problems in US customs. It helps the rest of us to plan trips accordingly.
no worries. I'd say you need a minimum of 4 hours if you're connecting, based on my experience
Just watched this and I thought it was superb and you covered everything. Big thumb’s up fella and I’m subscribed seriously well done as you said it’s your first proper report 👍
Very great job, appreciate the efforts in this! You just earned a sub
Great report have liked and subscribed hope to see many more trips in the future
Really enjoyed this video Jamie, I haven't flown since 2006 when I went over to Faliraki in Greece and the thought of flying now makes me anxious unfortunately so I'm trying to expose myself to it. This video helped me out, it seemed like a great flight.
Thank you! Hopefully a few more videos will help out, maybe also try getting down to the airport for a walk around; getting a bit more familiar with the experience and surroundings sometimes helps
superb clip well easy to watch well informative keep doing these as you are a natural
Just discovered your channel that was an excellent trip report 👍 thanks
I'm flying from Heathrow to jfk in January so this vid was very helpful thanks!
Really enjoyed that video - great job! I was through JFK in April this year, and i'm sorry to say that the queues in T7 aren't much better. Not holding out any great hopes for a change when BA start operating out of T8 at the end of this year!
Thanks! Hoping to try BA out via Terminal 8 soon, heard good things about it so far
@@JTsJourneys I'm the same - was a big fan of the Flagship Lounge at JFK, so I'm hoping the new lounges are at least as good!
Great video very informative..more please!
Thank you! More on the way, don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss them :)
I’m planning to travel from NY to UK using same route as yours on September. Thanks for sharing how it looks like 👍
Have a great trip! I think the only watch out is BA now seem to have 3-4-3 seating in economy on their 777 so the seat is slightly tighter than in this video.
Awesome video! I really enjoyed it! Subbed!!
Jamie Taylor : JT's Journeys I also do some trip reports if you want to check it out
Awesome video indeed! Reminds me of my flight with British Airways on Boeing 747 to New York
I really like this. Very few reviewers do economy and you detailed how you picked your seat very well. Will you so an updated long haul again? This was in February 2020 right before lockdown. I've just subscribed.
Thank you! Plenty coming up over the next few months including an update on BA economy onboard their 777's which now have a much tighter cabin, and their 787-9
As a New Yorker, my recommendation. Don't take the subways going to Manhattan at night. Things has gotten worse here with very high crime now in the NYC subway lines here. Better to take a cab.
Totally agree! My flight was late in and much preferred the taxi option. Even going back to JFK in the early evening it felt sketchy
It's always nostalgic in the airport from entering the airport to getting on the plane sub worthy
It will help ,thanks

Did this trip in March with Norwegian 787. Enjoyed, looked comfy in BA's Economy, will try this next time. I love New York. 😊
I really enjoyed my trip to New York flying with Norwegian 787 Premium Economy. Had no complaints with the flight, the service anything else associated with that interval. I would definitely recommend them I have also flown with them to European cities. I have booked 3 more flights in Feb to Stockholm and Malaga.
That's how much I enjoy their services.
Highly recommended. ❤️❤️
I came back on this particular 777 from Seoul . But used BA premier economy booked it pretty early . And got a good price so shop early .
I agree, if you can afford the extra cash, premium is certainly a worthy upgrade. It's a huge step up in comfort but not necessarily service. How was Seoul?
@@JTsJourneys Most excellent JT. good trip and excellent airport (inchon). Great place to visit if it's your first trip to south Korea . Carrier wise for other far east destinations from Seoul lots to choose from . I ended up in Tokyo Narita using a United airlines B777 service . Again premier economy , poor going out , but on another united sector it seemed to improve . Again i booked really early . Not as good as BA . Other then that enjoy your travels and flying JT . Enjoyed the New york trip well presented . Cheers .
Just booked my first holiday for over a year! LHR - CLT via New York. With BA serving that first leg. So hope everything goes to plan. I’m flexible policy’d and insured to high heaven 😂
Hopefully all goes to plan! Looks fairly likely a US UK corridor is on the cards
@@JTsJourneys Has something happened in that respect in the meantime? (2022)
That box thing under the seat would be enough for me to trade my window seat with the middle seat lol i gotta stretch lol
Some of the stands at T7 are tow-in only so it was a regular feature there. Now BA are operating from T8 which doesn’t have this issue.
Thanks for all that information well done, I never went though T5 . What’s difference between 77-200er and 77-300? Looks clean inside and tidy
a few differences, mainly more powerful engines on the -300, longer range and longer actual aircraft
Hi thank you for the video! How much was the cab from JFK to the Manhattan? W as it straight forward? Just will be travelling in may with special assistance and quite anxious:) thanks
Great capture. Remember what you paid for the cab to Manhattan?
Great question! i think around 60USD ( i got caught out and didnt realise the quoted fare excluded any tolls etc)
Never fast forward the takeoff!!
It's a tough one sometimes. In this video because it was dark there wasn't too much to see.
Thanks for this good video.
Do you recommend getting the Taxi to mid town or is public transport easy enough (worth the savings?)
There is 2 of us going so we would have to pay 2x the public transport cost, compared to 1 x taxi cost .
Thank you!
I think this one depends very much on the time you arrive. If you land late in the evening traffic might be okay for a cheap cab fare, but outside of that I'd say take the metro
@@JTsJourneys I've been watching some youtube videos and the metro looks really easy to use, so will probably use it!
whats confusing is that there are two different "metro cards" one for airtrain and one for subway / buses :(
Hi - this was a great insightful video. Can I ask how much your taxi cost? Don’t know if it’s worth Pre booking
Just had a look back through, $52 was the flat rate to Manhattan, but onto of that you'll have the tip plus any tolls. I think I the end mine was around $65 to Midtown at around midnight.
Be careful in NY, especially @ night. Maybe when you're talking about price show how much in dollars, pretty good video though.
Thanks for the tip, good call I’ll look to add the USD and EUR pricing in for future videos!
The Aspire lounge at T5 is a disaster. I recommend going to Gordon Ramsey’s Plane Food. Much more relaxing experience
Thanks, been wanting to try that for a while so I’ll give it a go next time 👍🏽
Hi mate, I'm flying out in 3 weeks for 8 days in NY. Did you need a Visa at all?
Hey, you’ll need to get an esta but apart from that no visa required for a uk passport holder
Hello! Were you able to take with you one small cabin luggage as a carry-on baggage? Was it included in your ticket?
Can't use the app to book flights for the same trip. Unsure in why I'm getting the Same messages, something went wrong .... I need to do it again I'm unsure in why I'm getting this
Great video, shame about the airline...
I have to say, BA certianly seem to be getting better. I recently flew a refurbished 777 and despite the narrower seats, the IFE was far supiror and the new seats are more comfortable than before
One question it’s day r night better to travel to jfk?
day, once you add in time difference ideally you wouldn't want to arrive into JFK any later than 6pm
do you think you got the SSSS because you weren't staying in nyc for long?
How tall are you? What’s the legroom like
5ft 10ish, legroom was fine, foot room could be the challenge, wear shoes/trainers with thin soles that aren't too thick.
HI! Did you say your round-trip ticket was FORTY-FOUR POUNDS!!!!!! No...surely not. The invoice said $171? sorry to be confused here! Thanks!
So the invoice at 09:21 shows £171 in government and airport charges. Plus £93.60 in BA charges. The £44 refers to the charge outside of the listed fees so anything above that, or the fare itself was £44, I had to pay all the other fees too.
@@JTsJourneys THANK YOU!!! Wow, I used a travel agent for my trip in September, and I have regretted that several times already. I hope for my next long haul I will be able to book everything myself. Thanks, again!
Soda and drinks are included in economy tickets or pay extra ?
All included, hard and soft drinks when flying long haul in world traveller
@@venox48in my experience yeah, as much as you want as long as you don’t take the piss I guess, and ain’t smashed they’ll serve
@@JTsJourneys Thx for answering. So they hand out a menu for that or maybe they have it on website or app ? I really couldn't find it ;/
How much was your yellow cab taxi
To midtown it’a $70 plus any tolls. I think there’s a $5 surcharge too for peak times but not sure when they are
What is a coronation chicken sandwich?
6 tbsp mayonnaise
2-3 tsp mild curry powder, to taste
½ tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp mango chutney
1-3 tbsp sultanas, or to taste
500g shredded cooked chicken

I'm so glad Europe is now going to start making Americans get a visa in 2024 also to enter Europe, love the tit for tat.
Not just Americans, Britts too and everyone else not in Europe, cost seems cheap enough, just another bit of paper work to do
Yeah immigration is always bad at JFK, it is called the gateway to America for a reason. I’m sorry but BA seems so stale as an airline, if it wasn’t a flag carrier and didn’t have a strong brand it’d be doomed. Even the pilots seem boring and miserable. Fly Virgin Atlantic over BA any day, then of course JetBlue is now available from Heathrow to JFK…
I think they lost their way a little but seem to be getting back on track now under new leadership. Here's to hoping anyway!
British Airways is disgraceful it has no customer service whatsoever
They’ve really let themselves down in the pandemic. I think it’s more a reflection of management than the agents in the call centre or the crew onboard
For a 2024 update, check out this video of my flight on BA to Singapore on a 777-300ER with an updated cabin th-cam.com/video/agnPJbyoHbw/w-d-xo.html
