The 1st episode of Easy French came out shortly after I started learning French. At first, I had such a difficult time getting used to the different sounds that the vowel combinations make, but I must say these videos are helping so much. I'm understanding things that I never would have been able to before. Merci beaucoup pour ces vidéos! Ils m'aident énormément!

I've been studying studying French quickly and discovered a fantastic resource at Magic language method (google it if you are interested)
This series of videos is great. In the settings I set the speed to 0.75 and keep watching it and listening to it until I can get through the entire video without referring to the subtitles. Once I can watch the entire video without referring to the subtitles I up the speed to 1.00 and repeat, then 1.25. Only when I can get through a video at 1.25 do I move on to the next, whether it takes hours, days or weeks. I do the same with most other French videos and also with chapters in French audio-books.
Michael Smith wow. That's great. That's one of the good ways to learn a language quite perfectly. Even tho it takes much more time. But since french is especially hard to understand by listening to it, it requires a lot of time and effort to understand what it says perfectly. Bonne courage.

The most difficult things about French for me are all the silent letters when reading French, and distinguishing words when hearing spoken French. I think spoken and written French should be considered almost distinct from one another, because trying to think of the written words when hearing French spoken makes it too difficult.

Oh absolutely; in fact I think English is much worse about it than French. French is at least consistent. English is extremely irregular, largely from the influence of French in its history. Not that I don't love French of course. :)

A trick maybe more easy for Italians, I don't know, but the consonants you find in "EX DEPOSITO GAZ", you mustn't read the consonants in this phrase when you find them as the final letters of a French word.

Don't know how to translate voila, it depend the context you uses it.
CptFoupoudav Well linguistically voila comes from vois là, meaning see there, and it was so much used that it became a separate word. For sure it can not be translated by see there but it’s the literal meaning of it.

As a person who speaks more than one international language, it is simple to understand. Let me explain : when you speak in a language that isn't yours natively, you develop the automatisms you would have if you were born speaking that language first ( e.g the transitions used in language A would be the same in language B, as well as the thinking processes ways. )
Moreover, you'll develop new habits related to the culture of that language (drinking tea has now become part of my daily routine since I started speaking English although it can crop out as another ''symptom'' in other speakers) and that might appear to be scary when it isn't.
The vocabulary,accent and demeanour are mostly what ''frighten'' people who tend to notice because they do vary considerably differently from a language to another ( need I mention linguos* : sub-languages = slangs etc...)
Grossomodo, nothing to fear for what appears as another personality is just the result of your brain adapting to the ways of the new language. You indeed remain who you are :)

You can look up the end of the French word and deduce the gender from it ;) For example words that end with 'al' are usually masculine: un bocal, un cheval, un journal, un festival... Words that end in 'eille' are usually feminine: une merveille, une groseille, Marseille (la ville)... Just analyse the ending!

pour moi j'essaie toujours d'écouter des musiques différents et varié et aussi faire des recherches pour pouvoir un bon vocabulaire mais je me suis pas encore satisfait à mon niveau notamment que au Maroc toute les métiers maintenant nécessite un bon niveau en français pour cela j'ai consacré au moins 4 heure pour pouvoir lire des livres ou écouter des documents sous titre j'espère que ce programme être utile pour pouvoir avoir un niveau top en français et vraiment aussi vous vidéo m'aider beaucoup beaucoup sincèrement je veux remercie au fond de mon coeur pour ces vidéos précieux
Ils sont à nice? Les gens sont beaucoup plus aimables que les français de mes souvenirs de strasbourg (1997). Ça donne envie de suivre avec la langue et revisiter la France.

Juste une petite correction (à l'attention de ma correspondante australienne) : on écrit ACCUEILLIR et non acceuillir. Car C+U se prononce "que" alors que C+E se prononce "se".

I find that all the filler words and phrases that are not annotated in the subtitles really help with listening comprehension. I find by listening to the videos closely for these differences I've really improved my listening ability.
the bigger our own bag of tricks the better :D As I started to learn English my trick to get forward was to buy all books teaching English I could get and then I would start to learn from one of them. I would get to the moment I couldn't understand any more then I would take another one and start from the scratch. Then the first few lessons would be easy and when I would reach a moment I couldn't go any more I would take yet another one and so on and on.

Hello guys i'm from saudi arabia so my mother tongue language is arabic for sure n i've master english since i was 13 age now i'm 16 n i've start learning french when i was "13" so i know alot of stuff in french alors je ne parle pas le coulant français encore!!!. Mais de nos jours je travail ne trés dur pas dans mon français mainenant je suis en progrés et je trouvé le français treeeeeeés prochaine à anglais langue la seule difference entre cela doux langue est la prononciation de la cette doux langue alors à mon avis français encore plus facile dans anglais ou outres les etrangere langue à quelle que he compris assez bien en français et je vais continuer comme cette façon

alors je ne parle pas encore français couramment!!! Mais en ce moment, je ne travaille pas très dur pour mon français, maintenant je suis en progrès et je trouve le français très proche de la langue anglaise. La seule différence entre ces deux langues est la prononciation de ces deux langues. Alors à mon avis, le français est encore plus facile que l'anglais ou d'autres langues étrangères comme quelle que je comprends assez bien et je vais continuer comme ça.

I have very little problem with listening comprehension since French is similar to English and Spanish in some ways. However reading and speaking it and memorizing grammar rules is hard for me. It's easier when translating phrases between French and Spanish since the grammar is so similar. But English and French have such different grammar rules I get confused. Does this happen to anyone else who is already English-Spanish bilingual trying to learn French?

Please post a separate video that's a bit slower. It's difficult to catch up the swiftness in language for beginners like me. I believe that most of the beginners will have the same problem.

But beginners need to learn the real french language .. isn't better to get used to the rythm plus with youtube you can pause the video go back repeat after it

I hate when people say "You must go to the country in order to learn the language", they are offending poor people that can afford a trip to their neighbor country,and they are just saying it without thinking,it is not completely neccessary. I learned english and german (and now french) without leaving my country, don't take those people seriously, have faith in yourselves, people :D
True story you can learn without the travel. Consider the traveling as extra credit. It's what u need to really nail it i.e take your french for a spin with the native speakers

Je crois que on apprendre facilement avec le method immersion. Vivre avec une famille que ne parle anglais/espagnol, seulement francais.
Mon conseil pour ceux qui veulent apprendre le français : Foncez, personne n'est infaillible, vous êtes absolument libres de commettre des erreurs, c'est grâce à elles qu'on augmente son niveau de langue, car après on le sait mieux.
Mais l'essentiel c'est de penser en français, c'est-à-dire comment la langue française fonctionne-t-elle ? Ça c'est est la question qu'il faut se poser.

Des bons conseils! Le monsieur qui a dit que le masculin/feminine est a vrai casse-tete pour les anglophones a tellement raision. J'ai toujours du mal avec ca quand je parle et ca fait environ 23 ans que j'apprends le francais! Vraiment tous les conseils donnés dans cette video sont bons. (Feel free to correct my grammar, but please excuse the missing accents. I'm too lazy to find all of them with an american keyboard lol)

in my native language we do consider some things masculine and some feminine. There's no need of constantly having to search whether sth. is feminine or not . the problem is that I need to expand my vocabulary. if I learn the French equivalents of different verbs, adjectives, etc.I'd be good to go

(I hope that translation was okay, I've only been learning a month. I find that I can read french really well, but listening and speaking is extremely difficult. I find it hard to know when one word ends and the next word starts.)

Notre prof de français nous a dit qu'on lie toujours des consonnes avec des voyelles en français.Mais j'ai entendu par example les phrases:" Nous sommes un" ou "..pas un" et il n'a pas lié le 's' de sommes (ou pas) avec le 'u' de un. Est-ce qu'il y a des exceptions? Merci!:)
+LligirlLo Very good skill at french ! Well, it's probably hard to get the concept. But in your example, you can "link" the S too to "un".
La liaison entre le verbe "être" conjugué et les compléments qui le suivent est possible mais pas obligatoire. On peut dire "nous sommes un" [nu sɔm œ̃] ou [nu sɔm zœ̃] (le dernier est plus soutenu).
Pour les autres verbes, il n'y a jamais de liaison avec leurs compléments.

How can I improve on my listening and understanding? One challenge I found for himself is that I often tried to piece their words together and I'd get lost in the process. I've taken 3 years of french, and I find it a little embarrassing that I struggle to comprehend the understanding part. Does anyone have advice on how I can improve?

All I can recommend to you is finding applications on Google Play/App Store, such as (French) Radio. On Google Play, there was "Radio FM" which had several radio channels from the whole world, included French-speaking channels. I suppose it's still there. Otherwise, you can watch French/French dubbed movies or series, too. I think that is a (bit) harder, though.
You can improve by listening to content you can just barely understand over and over again until it is easy to understand. Also don't hang on single words. It is tempting to stop and try to remember what a single word means, but doing that is not helpful to your comprehension, because you end up missing several other words. Just continue listening to what is being said and it will start becoming clearer over time.
I have the same problem! I can read and write enough to have a good written conversation, and I can even speak some, but when it comes to listening and comprehending, forget it XD

tu dois répeter chaque vidéo dans Easy French environ 6 fois ou plus.
ma méthode:
raw -> seulement sous-titre français -> seulement sous-titre anglais; et
raw -> seulement sous-titre français -> seulement sous-titre anglais
= 6 fois
quand la vidéo est carrément ennuyeuse et tu veux pas écouter à nouveau, tu vas apprendre.

The woman at 1:08 has a more "bourgeois" accent, a less popular one. It's not a geographical accent by itself, but it's true this one is commonly heard in Paris and big cities such as Lille, Bordeaux, Lyon or Strasbourg.

Je crois qu'il est tres important de traduire pour rafrachir ce qu'on sait deja. Si on essaye de traduire, on peut realiser la premiere fois qu'on en fait ne sait rien sur la langue. Excuse any mistakes i might have made i started french a month ago or so
