Hi Alan fantastic video was this at Clifton Springs as I do see the old stumps from the old pier. I find Clifton Springs very weedy on the squid jigs However intended head and st Leonard's not so weedy on the squid jigs Cheers Phil Vassallo
Yes it sure was, all the specifics go inot our members area. I like the weedy areas thats where the squid are. Yes indented heads and St Leonards also very good spots too
So jealous of you being so close to the coast Al, I miss it being 400k's inland from Newcastle. But I do at least have a good dam an hour away with reddies, yella's and cod so I still get to wet a line regularly, but I do miss my salt water fishing.
Hi Alan I love you video, I am beginners with small tinny, what would be safe wind and whether you recommend? And is there boat ramp in this you location
As a beginner, it's very important to understand wind and swell before venturing out. I study tools like meteye, willys and windy before every trip. Understanding the wind direction plays a massive difference in swell height that is safe or not safe. Eg in my area a 15k southerly will have meter plus waves yet a 15k northerly will be very flat. There are some very detailed vids in the FishingMad members area that might be really helpful for you as you're starting that cover stuff like this.
Black has been a dominant colour for for years and many other anglers. Black, white, red all you need in my opinion. Do you rkn the whiting fishing would be good this time of year?
Agreed, Black and white jigs are standouts. I too find on most occasions thats all you need. The whiting has been quite slow the past month but will pick up as the water temp rises, Last week there were a few decent sessions on them,
All depends on where you fish. 99% of the waters i fish for squid i drift so berleying would be quite pointless as you would constantly be moving and drifting away from the scent trail. Ive seen squid scent for squid jigs and I also have a few mates who will anchor up and berley hard then move every 20 minutes or so, I just enjoy drifting and covering ground.
To date it hasnt run out and most of my sessions around around 5-8 hours on the water. That being said I dont have it on all the time and do spend a lot of time drifting, and hitting waypoints
Yeah the water can 100% impact water clarity, sometimes its best to wait a couple of days after heavy rain to target squid, also wind direction makes a huge difference as a lot of that dirty water and run off will follow the wind and tide so I fish the opposite wind direction for optimal water clarity
Hi Les, 50 amp battery, its about 40 cms under the yak. Got plenty of vids in our members area which shows how it was installed and fitted and will be doing some sounder install vids there in the coming weeks too
@@fishingmad I’m from up in QLD so not sure what pinkies are but heard of yellowbelly. I’m sure they will still work on the flatty, whiting and bream or Grunter.
Hi Glen, Full moon usually means very slow tides. They often say no flow no go. That being said it can be really good for night fishing as it keeps the sea lice away which is great for species like gummies, mulloway and snapper.
Hi Alan , I watch all your videos but just wondering dont you get scared of sharks , Im from sydney and I have an almost 4 meter inflatable boat with engine but I cant use it because of sharks and when I look at you I feel shame
Thanks !! I have spent countless time on the kayak and haven't had too many dangerous encounters which has prob helped heaps. Once had a decent shark circle the kayak for a few seconds but thats a bout it. Where i fish we dont seem to get to many of them, that being said im sure they are there,

Another great video. Was a hard slog but persistence paid off. Turned out to be a productive and very enjoyable morning.
Sure was !! BIG well done to you getting your bag !!
Boat magnet @6:38 . Nice area for the squid there
100% it sure is and whiting too
Awesome Alan 👍🏼 good to see how important it is to change locations and jigs to bag some squid
Thanks 👍 Jared, yeah keeping active can get results. Thanks !!
Hey Alan great vid I was wondering now that snapper season is almost here would you be able to do a vid on snapper in PPB? Keep up the great vids 🤙🙌👌
Working on it at the moment, Snapper have started coming in last few days so wont be long

Thanks !! Yeah I love living near the bay. Its the best. Thise dams full of reddies, yellas and cod can alos be exceptional too.
What do you think of that spray Pilchards scent you give the jigs a spray and it’s meant to attract the squid do you reckon it works
I've always been curios to whether it actually improves catch rates or not, might have to dedicate an episode to doing some testing on it
@@fishingmad that would be awsome so look forward to your thought on what you think weather it really works or not
Be lucky to even get a normal summer this year where in solar cycle 25
Agreed, weather seems to be a full month behind at the moment
Great video😁
Thanks 😁

Would love to see a land based squid video at st Leonard’s
Funny you should say that, will likely venture there next week to do some recording. Got a few mates up there trying to coridnate a day filming there
@@fishingmad I’ll be going there too
Hi Allan, i have question. I've noticed nobody burleighies for squid, why is that?

How long does your battery last for on the electric trolling motor? Another great video mate.
To date it hasnt run out and most of my sessions around around 5-8 hours on the water. That being said I dont have it on all the time and do spend a lot of time drifting, and hitting waypoints
Hi Alan, with all the recent rain, do you recommend waiting for the water to clear up or changing plastic colours and continuing. 👍👍
Yeah the water can 100% impact water clarity, sometimes its best to wait a couple of days after heavy rain to target squid, also wind direction makes a huge difference as a lot of that dirty water and run off will follow the wind and tide so I fish the opposite wind direction for optimal water clarity

Thoughts on the Zman 3” minnows soft plastic?
Awesome, used them today black ones and they were outstanding on pinkies. Also very good on yellowbelly

I always thought full moon was good fishing.
What are your thoughts on new moon.
Love the episode Allan.👍

Hey Alan. Could you please advise which kayak is better for 2 persons? Pedal or motorized? Thanks in advance!
Prob peddle kayak on a tandem. As it may be to much weight for a small eletric kayak motor
@@fishingmad Thank you so much for your suggestion!!
What do you think of the hobie pa 14 mate?
Amazing !! A tad heavy at times, but easily my fav kayak
@@fishingmad thanks man
Been watching your videos for a while
Going to look at a 2017 model one on the weekend
