A lot of people were hoping the inks would have a sheen, and that's a lot of the reason why I wanted to make this video. I fully expect that a lot of folks that thought this ink would be something other than it is would change their minds after seeing it, and that's perfectly okay. I'd rather you find out now than be upset after spending $22 to get the ink!
We'll probably be okay by then, but I honestly have no idea! I know this ink is a little different than what some people were thinking it might be, so it'll be a complete surprise to me to see how many people want to buy it today. Thanks for the love :)
Thanks! The ink itself didn't seem too flashy to me and I was worried it would blend in to the rest too much. But comparing it to others, it's actually a deeper color than others that are similar to it.
Thanks! They are high quality...at least 720p. I would to 1080p, but MAN does that take up a ton of space/bandwidth! And not too many people even have devices that would utilize it. I really try to put a lot of effort into my video quality, and I appreciate that you notice :)

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed too, as I love blue inks and I love sheens...but I tried not to hate on the ink just because of my own expectations. I had to put myself in a sort of Zen state when testing this ink so that I wouldn't be trying to make it into something that it wasn't, and when I did that I found that it actually has some nice qualities to it, though they're more subtle than the flashier Rouge Hematite.
I really enjoy blues, and never seem to tire of them. Thanks kindly for the really thorough test of this ink. My current favorite blue is Private Reserve D.C. Supershow blue. Cheers!
Those bottles are just gorgeous; it doesn't matter to me if they're impractical - what else are syringes for? ;) I've been meaning to get Rouge Hematite for the longest time... good to know it's no longer limited edition! I already have a lot of blues, so Bleu Ocean isn't for me. I do hope the 1670 line expands! A green ink with a sheen next time, perhaps...
I'm with you. I love deep reds, but part of me feels just a little weird writing to someone in red (maybe all of my teachers marking all my papers in red bringing back bad memories!). I don't end up using my Rouge Hematite very often, but I do enjoy it every now and then.
I'm excited for this one. I love RH, but red inks aren't exactly practical for everyday use, so it'll be nice having at least a somewhat comparable blue version.
Why they didn't develop this ink with a similar sheen as Rouge Hematite I'll never know. Especially with the oceanic theme. One of the reasons I love Diamine Sargasso Sea so much is because its HEAVY white/gold sheen plays off the rich blue ink so beautifully, reminding me of a clear sunset glistening off busy whitecap waves. This ink is just another blue in the sea (couldn't resist) of dark blues on the market, and it seems like the only thing setting it apart is a gorgeous-and useless-bottle.
I have this ink. It is a superb colour. And, it behaves very well with good shading. I leave it in a Diplomat Excellence A2 all of the time. It does not clog up the feed. The glitter sinks to the bottom of the ink bottle rather quickly. So I find I need to shake the bottle and get the pen filled rather quickly. Then the first use is this delightful blue with glitter. However the glitter settle in the pen too and on day two even gently shaking the pen does not get the glitter going. I think It maybe all came out in day 1 LOL All that aside the ink colour is great and it has decent shading. Now I use it without shaking the bottle.

Oh man, definitely shake your Rouge Hematite. That stuff settles out like crazy in that ink, so you'll get much more of the true color by shaking it. I'm glad you like the syringes, they are a really handy tool! -Brian Goulet
Hi Brian - Expecting a bottle of red and blue 1670 from your good self any day now. I saw that the TWSBI 580 fits well into the bottle. The Pelikan M800, not so much, but serviceable for the first half of the bottle. What about a Mont Blanc 146? I am also wondering if the Noodler Ahab fits.
I just got a bottle of this. Just wondering if the gold powder in the ink difficult to clean? I don't flush my pens every 2 weeks. I usually keep them in the drawer and use them at least once a week.
killazx9 It can be. We'd recommend not leaving it in your pen for a long extended period of time. It could be good to dedicate a pen this particular ink if you won't be cleaning it often. :) -Margaret

kinogodt I wouldn't say forever, but we see bottles of inks lasting for years. :) It is recommended to store them in a cool, dry place like a drawer in a desk or a cabinet. You want to avoid direct UV exposure. -Margaret

I do think that a sheening Bleu Ocean would have been a homerun for J. Herbin, but this is still a very pleasant ink for different reasons.

When you shot this video you only had the ink in the pen for one day. Over long periods of time how should I handle this ink in my pen "cleaning"
2020 and I am torn between which one to buy first. Emeraude de Chivor or Caroube de Chypre? I know, I should just buy both right?
