  • Our buddy Shuja (@shujaxhaider) joins us to talk about Charlottesville; the bravery of the IWW, Black Lives Matter, Antifa, PSL, and DSA people there, the coming split of the soft and hardcore white supremacists, the solidarity growing on the left, and the post-lib future staring us all in the face.

"They failed cavalry school, got addicted to morphine and now they believe in magic"
So even these types of people were a lot cooler back in the day.

@@daPawlak You have a point there at least from the viewpoint of society as a whole. Though Crawly's brand of hedonism if projected into politics might be as destructive in it's own ways as the Randian virtue of selfishness. Just with more literal screwing rather then the metaphoric screwing we get from leaders today.

@@FakeSchrodingersCat yeah, i agree, however i ment simply amoral coolness, modern reactionary bs is boring and lame, that old stuff was weird and interesting bs. It might be as harmful as modern but sure as hell it was not as lame. Its hard to be lamer then randian and randians are "cool" among modern reactionary

It's the greatest analysis ever provided by this podcast. Its insights alone justifies Chapo's existence. I predict future generations will quote these words as prophetic one way or another. Let us pray that they do so in a world where socialism prevails over barbarism.

It made me cry. And I only feel guilty that I didn’t cry more. Conservatives wonder why we are so “sporatic” it’s because of that, it’s because we just know SO MUCH MORE than them and no matter what we say, no matter what legally binding thing we do they will not fucking go away. We know exactly what’s coming next and it’s hard not to just give up and watch the sun set on a dying world. I feel like racism is deeply ingrained in my head and I can’t make it go away, it’s this little Knat lizard brain shit that I can’t just turn off. I wish I was just smarter lol.

Matt's little speech at the end of this ep summarises what we all think in such a thoughtful and easy to understand way. I come back to this ep every now and then as one of my chapo favourites while I work.
You guys (both the show and our online community) have always given me the feeling that there are many of us who think and share the same ideas even though we are so far (I live in Australia), that our common ideals in socialism, leftism give me re assurance and a feeling of belonging that I don't get here, at least in a political and ideological sense, and I am grateful for the last 7 years of being in your group. I say all this as I heard the news of how Matt is in hospital and recovering and had to come back to this classic as a tribute to his ability to say what we are all thinking. Get well soon Matt, and sending good vibes to your family and friends.
