- Today we have a build for Ken Masters from Street Fighter in Dungeons & Dragons! If you want some easy to use combos in D&D 5e, break this one out and have some fun.

The cool thing about the Draconic Disciple is that you can use it to make some kind of Draconic Fist attack, and you can even have it Rise if you want. A Rising Dragon Fist, one could say.

I like ken having a capped wisdom save, because in the main timeline he is litterally the only person to study Assassins Fist and never fall prey to the Satsui no Hado.
Does that include Gouken?
@@Megidramon Last time I checked cannon it did, because being enveloped by the satsui no hado was what lead Gouken to change the assassin's fist by adding Zen teachings to push through the satsui no hado and into the power of nothingness; but they tweak cannon a lot so I may be wrong.

Shoryuken literally translates to rising dragon fist (and ken is fist), so Way of the Ascendant Dragon is just perfect.
I'm half convinced Way of the Ascendant Dragon was actually made as a reference to Ken

Humans are under-rated in D&D.
@@dex1157 Base humans? Yeah, they aren't nearly as bad as everyone says, they just aren't the best for optimizing.
Variant Humans tho, they're certainly quite powerful, since feats are stronk for sure.
People still don't seem to want humans in their fantasy RP, even though there's literally nothing that keeps them from doing what they want just because they aren't a short miner human or a tall long-eared human or a scaly human or smth. Your character's race isn't the most important thing.
@@benjoffe948 I kinda went through that phase when I first started making my own PC's, but since I hate Elves and Dwarves, I kinda just got bored of an unending string of Tieflings, half-elves & Half-Orcs.
Then I just started fucking around with humans and had a great time just making weird-ass backstories.
@@benjoffe948 you say that but a plus one to all stats really helps MAD builds or generalists since it’s rather easy to not have any negative modifiers.
True strike being almost good mixed me up more than any Ken combo ever could have.
Truestrike does have exactly one use. Landing big slot spell attacks. It's a poorman's Seeking metamagic.
Attacking twice is better than truestrike attack, but whiffing a bestow curse then landing a second one *IS* worse than truestrike bestow curse. Even worse for something like PlaneShift where you only get 1, no second attempt. Mind you, landing the bestow curse turn 1 is better than both truestrike and whiffing your first attempt, but sometimes you can't guarantee that their AC is too high.
@@dragonboyjgh Another time I found it useful is with Rogues. Pre Tasha, it was a great way to guarantee sneak attack damage in large area scuffles if you didn't have your team and weren't a swashbuckler.
@@kevinhedgeus1909 Yeah it's kind of weird. In Tashas they gave the two classes that could actually make use of it sometimes (Rogue and Sorcerer quickening it) a each version of it that's just better in most ways.

One thing you keep forgetting, when you start as a monk, you get proficiency with either an instrument or Artisan's tools. This means all monks, like Ken, have the power of god

Ok, this one was pretty standard, but you blew my mind in the last few levels. It was amazing!
Never saw how well Samurai could work with Monk.

Y'know, given that Ken is traditionally more associated with the Shoryuken - Literally the Rising Dragon Fist - over the Hadouken (more Ryu's thing), there was literally no more fitting subclass he could get.
I mean not really ken is just more associated with the fire side of hadou, he even has diffent kinds of hadouken then Ryu, as well as Ryu being the one to just know the the shoryuken because Gouken didnt want to teach it to them

Honestly, can't wait for more SF builds so I can have a big tournament arc. Here's hoping for Q/G or Juri someday.
Also, side note, Japan *kinda* exists in D&D from an older campaign setting. There are actually two of them, Wa and Kozakura, that are in Kara-Tur, the Forgotten Realms' Asia analogue. It doesn't show up often, which is sad, because I think it's a really cool setting, personally.
Having the CPU play Ken is real king shit.
At level 14, the crusher feat can push enemies up, so pick that up and boost your con and do a hurricane kick

You know, I could try to explain how to pronounce Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku, but honestly I think it'd be overall better if you just did what the FGC does and call it a Tatsu. It's a short way of saying "yes I know the official Japanese name of this move but I don't feel like pronouncing it right now, and I definitely could if you asked me to, but don't ask me to".
Also, the sudden pivot into _Violent Ken_ is kind of blowing my mind. Who the FUCK could've anticipated that? Not me, and that's what matters to this comment.

It’s not *that* weird that Monks don’t have Wisdom saving throws. Generally, there’s a divide down the middle of saving throws. Dex, Con, and Wis are “the big three” that are used most commonly for saving throws in D&D. You’ll notice no classes offer saving throws in more than one of these big three. So when they were coming up with the saving throws for Monks, they weren’t able to choose Dex and Wis because it would make Monks drastically overpowered in terms of saving throws to every other class. After they chose whether Dex or Wis made more sense for the Monk’s saves, choosing Strength from the small three saves was the obvious other choice over Int or Cha because the class has nothing to do with either of those mental stats.

I've always wondered which would be better, the Monks martial arts, or the fighters unarmed fighting. Turns out, they mesh really well actually.
Did not expect the warlock level, but great build as always sir.

So many people fail at this...
Warlocks at 1st level only have the 1 spell slot don't get a second till level 2. So the weakness of limited resources is a bit more noticeable. You'll only get at most two uses of Hunter's Mark a day. Not the worst thing in the world since 2nd level Rangers are just as limited anyway. DEFINITELY didn't expect the Hexblade dip though. It's...kinda fitting for Violent Ken. Hexblade is effectively the patron for anything Shadowfell and I can imagine the Satsui no Hadou possibly originating from it so kudos there.
This is a beautiful build and with my favorite from Street Fighter.
That being said, still wanting to see another lovely favorite Capcom character: Quick Man. Fast frickin' Warforged when?
-Maybe Gemini Man as well? He's a fun Robot Master to try to come up with a build for. I'd kind of laugh if Trickery Cleric comes up at all-
I'd go Echo Knight but Trickster Cleric might work. Id have to also make him an Inquisitive Rogue or something just because of the GeminEye song by The Megas

While Fey-touched is a possibility, as you said teleporting isn’t really something Ken does. While Hunter’s Mark is really good we could grab the Skill Expert feat since Ken happens to be very good at Ken things or Mage Slayer for a bit of a boost for fighting any possible psychic ecoterrorists you may encounter.

Kidding, of course! (mostly. >:3) I'd love to see that Ryu build soon, though, a friend of mine is running his first campaign soon and I was hoping to have Ryu as a backup character in case my Storm Soul Barbarian doesn't pan out. I sort of have an idea of how *I* would build him (some Battle Master Fighter levels for cool techniques and Sun Soul Monk levels for major Hadoken damage), but this has given me some good ideas for maybe an Evil Ryu alternate build! I'm VERY eager to see your take on Ryu, though, even if you like Ken more like everyone else. No hate, I love your show, you're doing awesome, I just love and identify with Ryu a lot more.
Ryu was boring for me until I really got into (spectating) MvC games and Third Strike.
Shin Shoryukens, Denjin Hadokens, Donkey Kicks and the weird bs Ryu gets in his crossovers are just so fun to see.

I feel like good in character feats for ken at 14th level could be Mobile, Prodigy, or Linguist. Mobile because ken tends to be quite agile, prodigy because of his ability to pick up and learn martial arts, and linguist because he most likely learned Japanese while training.

@@biohazard724 Especially when you consider that Dan Hibiki was supposed to be a parody of Ryo Sakazaki from the Art of Fighting franchise, because Capcom thought SNK ripped them off.
They weren’t…WRONG per se, but Sakzaki’s pretty formidable in the King of Fighters Universe. So if Dan is supposed to be him, then he can’t be that bad.

Episode 310 of the Fire Emblem stats: Ken Masters.
Ken's pretty easy to figure out on the weapons front. He's good at brawling and reason (fire magic) but is bad at heavy armor and every other weapon.
He has good dexterity and offense in both areas but is pretty fragile in the defenses.
Anyone else bummed that he wasnt making Master Ken? No just me…. I will over here in the corner

quick alternative to that fey touched feat... the one that powers up bludgeoning damage... then again... it's useless when you're turning your punches into fire damage... and if you don't, then you're not hitting for magical damage... so just ignore my suggestion there and try something else maybe
I love street fighter, I also love Injustice. Both are great fighting games. Martian Manhunter was in Injustice, you should do a build for him. Or Batman Beyond. He’s just someone I want. Or just a video about how you go about making these videos

@@michaelmarix8257 even though he dances and is a recording artist, I don't see bard (no spells). He just has proficiency in Performance. A whip could be reflavored for the belt. At least enough monk levels for deflect missiles (kensai), maybe fill the rest with fighter (battle master for the maneuvers and superiority die).
