    Great album... if it had been published round one year after Drama it would have been first all over the world charts... but so much time has passed

    Do you have the exact quote from Geoff about Gowan's spinning keyboard rig? Keep in mind Geoff has a sense of humor that people often take too seriously.
    Here's the thing, The Beatles legally disbanded in the 1970s. There was an actual court case and further legal stuff that expanded into the 70s. This didn't happen to Yes. They were readying to go on tour when Jon got sick, they had already hired Oliver, hired David, went on tour as HSW(of Yes), by 2009 officially went by Yes.

    Benoit left on his own. He told the band he was too ill to join the band in the spring. It shouldn't be a surprise how Yes treats its members, this goes back to the 70s. I won't take away any credit from Jon and what he did in the band but I see it as a more collaborative effort. Some seem to believe that Yes is Jon Anderson's backing band. And frankly I think Jon's writing went downhill sharply after the 70s. Geoff admits the band was not fully ready at the beginning of the summer tour... cont.

    Some of this features Oliver Wakeman some Geoff Downes. Dit they ever play together in Yes?

    @MrKayley10 Wow, you got all of them =)
    The FFH show footage comes from two sources. The first FFH live footage is from Barcelona which I have posted a youtube link in the description. The second FFH live clip with the guys taking a bow is from a recording of the Paris show which is available on Dime.

    I understand what you are saying and it is obvious that we are both huge Yes fans. I've been a devoted fan since I was 13 way back in 1973.I know this is not really a "tribute" band and that Chris owns the rights. But the soul of the band was Jon. A younger voice singing alto-tenor does not replace him. This band has a horrible record for how it treats its own members. Just look at what they did to Jon after he recovered...how they fired Oliver...and how they fired Benoit. Continued ...

    Is that Trevor Horn at 3:19?

    (Cont) But that was last year and since then Geoff has settle into the band. The spring tour, which I've posted some audio from, received glowing reviews not only for the band's performance. The reviews from their first show this tour have also been positive. They're doing Awaken on the tour and from accounts the band's performance of it was flawless. I respect your opinion about Yes and you have been kinder then some other people regarding this but why bring it up? It is an old issue.

    I don't remember Geoff saying anything bad Lawrence Gowan. On Styx he said, "I have to say that Styx is a very impressive act...Styx is a high energy act and they are very good at it." Also how are Steve, Chris and Alan "former" members of Yes? The band did not break up post-2004 (went on hiatus) neither were any of them fired from the band.

    I keep expecting John Wetton to start singing.

    Firstly its spelt Buggles and secondly David and Squire's vocals sound no way near John Wetton's sound so I don't see how it could sound like Asia.

    Melting down? Not from the reviews that I've been reading of this recent tour. So far they've been performing great (if a little rough around the edges although when it comes to live performances Yes were always sorta rough around the edges). They're planning to record a new album late this year. So I don't think they're melting down. They're simply moving on.

    (Cont) For me, I'd rather have a Anderson-less Yes then no Yes at all.

  • @saarnoldbhm

    I realize they have to make a living, that said, their show with Geoff last year was awful. Downes was not ready, the band had obviously not rehearsed nearly enough, and I found myself wishing they would get off the stage and let Styx on, and I never would have imagined myself thinking such a thing. As for Geoff's quote, it was from a member of Styx and I can't say more, and shouldn't have even opened up that door. Sorry. Anyway, the video was well done. It just isn't Yes anymore, not to me.

  • @saarnoldbhm
    @saarnoldbhm 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are right about the argument being moot. Still, this is a tribute band with 3 of the former players whether it is Davison or David. As far as I am concerned the last Yes concert was in 2003. The band was tight, professional and came off well. Personally, I have never liked Downes as a keyboardist for Yes. And stories of how he responded to Styx's keyboardist ( a man every bit as good as Downes) were reprehensible. Take a listen to the 2001-2003 concerts and you will hear Yes' swan song.

  • @saarnoldbhm
    @saarnoldbhm 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    The comment was not made online -- . And, to be fair had less to do with Gowan's playing but were derogatory and arrogant remarks made about his rig. Quite insulting.
    As for this being a tribute band....well, it is. Paul and Ringo could hire two musicians but it would not be the Beatles.

  • @saarnoldbhm
    @saarnoldbhm 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    ELO1138.....Yes, sorry about the typo. No, of course they don't sound like Wetton. But, I'm just saying this is not Yes. You did a great job putting all the former yeomen in the video, but the songs on Fly from Here aren't of the caliber or the quality of the old stuff. This befits a reunion of the Buggles but not Yes.

    you're a little late to the party. this argument is MOOT. YES is now with Jon Davison on vocals. get over it. life is too short. and this whole concept has been done to death since 2008 give it a rest.

  • @saarnoldbhm
    @saarnoldbhm 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well done. Good boggles even Asia song.....but not yes
