Nearly all the Dark Tuners are high levelled and require ridiculously specific levels to summon the Dark Synchro's you want. I've got a feeling that's why they didn't keep the mechanic and went with Xyz summoning instead.
While it's not the exact same thing, there are ursartics, a series of monsters that use a tuner with a high level monster to lower its level into a synchro monster instead of raising, such as a level 7 into a level 5 synchro
Couldn't they create a card that's called idk, "Level Points" where for every one hundred Attack or Defence points you take away on a monster, they gain one or two levels, and vice versa for every one level you take away from your monster they gain one hundred attack or defence points?
Every series since GX has had at least 1 duel where they try and mill out the good characters deck. I think at least. Havent watched the shows since zexal.

They were planned to be released, but I guess it was a bit pointless to create a whole new mechanic and set of rulings for cards that were more than likely never going to come back after the Earthbound Immortal arc since they were tied to the Dark Signers. Besides, we technically got the Dark Synchro monsters from the manga since they require a tuner and non-tuner have the same level and are printed as being level 0, but have text that makes it so they are always treated as having a level.

This show is better than it has any right to be. Not only has it been able to keep my interest in 29 episodes, but Im actually tempted to watch it all the way through. And part of that is thanks to the characters actually feeling like real people imo. Especially Yusei, who has to battle through all sorts of hell to help his friends and mankind as anybody wants to take him down, cops, the government, cults, insecure woman, evil spirits from having been working himself up from living in a litteral sewer. That to me is inspiring as heck!!!

I think the best character development moment that Jack had in this episode is when he switched from using a singular pronoun to a more inclusive one. Like when he said it was both his _and_ Carly's turn. Plus, Exploder Dragonwing is a really cool card, and it was one of my ace monsters back in the day.
Well his ego was set because he gave up is friends and past just to get ahead in life and achieve glory and prove he is better than Yusei. But with that duel finally settled and his title lost, unlike Kaiba, he knows better than to get the salt shaker dropped on him. After all, sometimes the best way to wake someone up is to give them a nice reality check.
Well Tristen's voice actor is voicing Yusei and Yugi's voice actor is voicing trudge so yeah in this show Tristen is a better then Yugi which i find funny

I think the best character development moment that Jack had in this episode is when he switched from using a singular pronoun to a more inclusive one. Like when he said it was both his _and_ Carly's turn.
Plus, Exploder Dragonwing is a really cool card, and it was one of my ace monsters back in the day.

Exploder Dragonwing is a level 7 dark attribute dragon synchro monster with 2,400 attack points & 1,600 defense points.
Jack shouldn’t have been able to Syncho Summon that monster. One of the requirements for summoning Exploder Dragonwing was that the non-tuner had to be a dragon. Twin Sheild Defender is not a dragon!
