- If you're craving an entirely new experience from modding Stardew Valley, this is the mod for you! Ridgeside Village adds an entire new town, new NPCs, and just about new kinds of every type of item! While it definitely takes more of a departure from the base style of Stardew Valley than the Expanded mod, there's definitely a lot to enjoy here! Also, thanks to the fact that almost all of this mod takes place in its own custom area, it's compatible with many other mods!

i love that the cable car clearly only works because lenny does her job. if lewis was in charge of keeping it up, the farmer would have to jump through several hoops to fix it

a thing to note is that Blair, the npc you were surprised you couldn't romance, will be romanceable in the next update, so look out for that

i wish there were some base-game style portrait mods for ridgeside because it seems like a super cool and in-depth mod but i just can't get past how off-putting the portraits look.

Can second DC portrait, there's like portraits for basically like every custom npc in that style. I like some of the portraits, but I get the impression that since it's such a large mod, some of the art is a bit dated.
I personally think that the most recent art of Ridgeside blends vanilla quite well than most mods. Most portrait reworks, although some are good yet don’t fit the characters that they’re portraying.

I've been playing with this mod for about a month now and it adds so much to the game its crazy! Lots of fun especially if you're into befriending villagers. Or marrying them, lol.
Sounds perfect for me! So ive played stardew for a good while now but have yet to make it past the first summer. Due to various things making me reset the game. I won't go into detail. But let's just say mods and generally messing things up.
I wanted to get through the base game before touching huge expansion mods such as this and SVE. But I just can't stand the wait anymore. I wanna know what they're like. So doing both at once for the first time. Probably gonna get overwhelmed. But Don't care. Gonna be fun.

@Divinity definitely a new file, pretty sure you can add it to an existing one but it won't make as much sense as starting fresh
I've rode on the cable car so many times in RSE to try to see the Hiker on it, but I never did so I'm glad there are videos that show that happening. Also, wow this mod is very impressive!

OH MY GOSH!!! I JUST WATCHED THIS AND WAS LIKE THE HIKER!!!!!! I saw the hiker when I played this as a kid and my brother did NOT want to believe me that I saw a hiker!!! Even to this day when I bring it up he says I am either lying or I must have dreamt about it. I can't believe I just finally got proof by watching a stardew valley mod video! I just recorded it and will show him tomorrow hahahah

Oh dear. This looks like another mod that needs to go on the list when I fully embrace modding for my eventual third playthrough. But alongside SVE, this might just be too much.
I feel the same way, as much as I’d like to play through both, doing it at the same time might be a bit much
I'm a bit late to the party, but you might want to consider East Scarp, plus some of the optional NPCs. There are extra storylines, but not as complex as those in RSV.

i LOOOOOVE ridgeside village!!! i downloaded both SVE and ridgeside at the same time on my first playthrough of stardew and it's been sm fun!!! overwhelming at time, but very fun! i love having so many characters to choose from! the only thing is remembering to go there every few days because if you don't you can definitely rack up a lot of cut scenes to shift through as soon as you hit the grounds lol but they are really nice regardless! my fav characters are yumma, shiro, trinnie, keehi, lenny, & pika!

@@thomasgovens5622 yeah it does, SVE characters even show up to ridgeside bazaar. And while you're at it add east scarpe too and then add Always Raining in the Valley, the NPCs of ARV show up in RSV festivals too.

Been using the RSV for a while, not fully explored it (have a bad habit of restarting), Lorenzo is a great one to get to know to learn about your grandma. He does give something you should sleep with to get a special cutscene (the other use for that item ill let people figure out). I have a habit of marring Alissa but that could change when they add Blair into the mix lol, Flors a nice one to marry as well.

I use my Switch for Stardew too, but I also have the PC version. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get mods to work. My SMAPI is so uncooperative. It was too frustrating and I gave up 🤷🏻♀️
So the PC version of Stardew can probably run on an actual potato

I’m working on a play through with 76 mods, SVE, Ridgeside, and all of the PPJA mods with crops. Oh and More Fish. I’ve played 30 hours and basically still done absolutely nothing in comparison to the content I’ve added. It’s a lot, but SO fun!! I’ll never run out of new things.

I really doubt that it's bigger that SVE. Judging by file size, SVE is triple the size of Ridgeside Village

I played this when I was in year 4 too, It's honestly so weird to play this mod when you are like 4 years in your save file
Because as soon as you enter the village you'd get bombarded with a cutscenes that is supposed to be emotional but then at this point I don't even know the chars yet but they for some reason know you lmao

I use more expansions and its just a lot of fun, modding becomes a habit after a while lmao. not going for perfection though, just variety. East Scarp, RVE, Mineral Town, Durins Rest, Stoffton, Fostoria are a lot of fun and of course the Deep Woods for more dungeon action and Boarding House for extra animals :D

Does this mod conflict with SV Expanded? If so, how do I use this mod without getting rid of Expanded?

Yup, since pretty much everything takes place in the added town area, it doesn't conflict with SVE which adds to the already existing areas!

AAhh, i just started stardew after years again and i never completed normal stardew, thats my goal for now :( but i really like the expansions you can get as a mod even though i am easily overwhelmed i will give it a shot.
I know this is not very plausible but it would be so cool if concerned ape could turn some of the very popular mods into dlc for other platfoms so more people could expsrience them and support the mod devs

It seems that ridgeside village is not compatible with vortex but all of my other mods are in vortex so will it still work if I simply put it in my mods folder?

Just got a laptop that can run mods so got this, sde and scarp immediately. Running something like 160 mods total but will start to pair down a bit. Maybe... it takes forever to load but I'm having a blast 😅

Does mods automatically update or do you have to re-download them? If you need to re-download them, does it save your progress with that mod?
You do have to update them manually, but assuming the mod author keeps their manifest updated, the smapi log should tell you when they need to be updated. Unless it's a major update that changes underlying code, the vast majority of updates will be compatible with each other, so it most likely will NOT break your save. Just check the mod description/changelog first if you're worried
Edit: if you use a mod manager like curseforge, it should auto-update, but a lot of mods aren't available there yet. Vortex might auto update too, but I can't quite recall. I have no problem maintaining my 100+ mods manually

I think this video could have benefited from being a little bit tighter with some planning and scripting, but in general it was a really nice introduction to the mod!
It looks a little too much for me at the moment, though. Perhaps I will give it a try after finishing a playthrough of SV Expanded first.

I've only just recently gotten back into Stardew after almost three years of not playing (last time was pre-Perfection, pre-island, like early 1.2-ish in late 2018), and am almost regretting doing so knowing how addictive even vanilla Stardew without mods is. So far, I've been sticking to just cosmetic and a couple of quality-of-life mods like UI Info Suite and Cuter Animals, with the only truly game altering mod being Skip Fishing Minigame.
One day, I may put this mod in my Stardew folder. Today is not that day.
So, I am just coming back to SDV and am curious if this works with the Expanded Mod?

I think your mistaken in the vid for saying special orders board was a 1.4 update. I'm pretty sure it's a 1.5 update. Because it's not available in Mobile which doesn't have the 1.5 update yet.
