You are seriously missing out on the dopamine hit from the "Cha-ching" notification. I'm addicted to the sound and it motivates me to want to do what I can to get more sales on Etsy!!😄
I can't tell you how many times I'll respond right away and they end up buying. Plus they'll mention wow, no one responds that quickly to me. That's gold to me! 💚
Yes I have the same experience. My challenge though is that I'm asleep when I get most of them, but then I start with a "good morning..." so they know that I haven't been awake when they wrote. And if they are awake ...they answer right away. It's about giving them the idea that a real person is behind....not a big corporation with automated answers. I only use those when my shop is on vacation .....and I am too.
I might have missed something but have you done a test of auto-renew vs. manual renew? I thought the Etsy algorithm liked a good “auto-renew sold” over a manual renew. I sell supplies so I have multiple quantities of each item and have set all of them to auto-renew because I’m under the impression that it helps search ranking (nobody told me that, I just assumed). Problem is, I’m often getting overwhelmed with maintaining my (around 85) listings. I’m afraid of my “best sellers” dropping in search because they expired when sold and didn’t auto-renew so I’ve never set them to manual. Any thoughts?
I haven't seen any major differences when renewing something because it sold out compared to having it auto renew as long as it wasn't sold out for too long. The auto renew is obviously better because the item isn't out of circulation at all, but if something is selling, Etsy puts it back into search results pretty quickly.
What about setting a higher amount 10, 20 or more if you have them in stock? That way you have much less work, and you don't run the risk of selling out and missing it. And if a customer wants to buy more than one, they can do so right away. I sell vintage so I would looove to be able to do this. But almost every item is unique so I have to set up each listing individually and do all the photos. I change photos even for very similar items, as I want the customer to know exactly what he/she gets.
@@tinaindina7032 I already do this. I have different quantities of each item in the variations section. I always set them to auto-renew. When an item sells out it truly sells out. I don’t do made-to-order.
Hi Kara, This is very helpful as it is easy to get distracted and let my Etsy shop go on autopilot while I make and send order out. I hadn't thought of responding to reviews unless there was a problem. I see the benefit of locking in the 5 star review, but it seems like Etsy created that tool mainly to respond and correct negative reviews. Is there any chance that responding to 5 star reviews can negatively impact our shop? You're doing it, so I would guess no it doesn't... but it's the popup window that Etsy shows about "resolving the issue"... just wondering if somehow this creates a red flag for Etsy or something. Responding reminds me of the old days when we had to rate customers... don't miss that one bit :)
I was just about to send an order I had the day before. Then I saw the order was no longer there! It was just gone. And it was no one with a pending payment. I contacted the buyer and Etsy. They escalated the case as the person in the chat had no idea what had happened. And I haven't heard anything since... 2 weeks and counting. I could just as well have send it and I would have lost 90$. So now I wait a couple of days before I send, but I don't even know if that is safe. It has only happened once, but what is going on? Have you experienced this?
Yes, I mentioned this in a video I did a while back. I've stopped shipping things really quickly because of that. th-cam.com/video/w_RbQM0RJhA/w-d-xo.html

Notifications just scare the crap out of me

@@KaraBuntinTutorials I have a love-hate relationship with the Cha-ching" notification. I just about jump out of my skin when it goes off LOL.

Exactly! I've had people tell me "thanks for answering" like it's a rare thing to get a response at all!
@@KaraBuntinTutorials and then they put that in their review! Amazing for those other buyers to read how fabulous you are. 😀

@@tinaindina7032 oh yes, I haven't had a overnight message yet. But that's what I would do as well.
Thank you Kara for always being so honest and giving helpful tips.
Thanks!
Thank you, hopefully next year I'll open my shop, this year is to learn as much as possible about the platform and production
Just do it! Even if you open with a few products it will start building your experience.
@@KaraBuntinTutorials thank you, getting close to my set to start goal
Thank you 😊

Not at all, they made the announcement that we can respond to all reviews so they wouldn’t have done that if they didn’t want us to!

LOL if only I was getting a review a day 🤣🤣🤣 my goal in life is that I get so annoyed by the constant ca-ching notification, I decide to turn it off
My goal in life is to take a lot of naps.
Thank you, this is very helpful. Do you list daily?
No, but i make daily sales so that counts for something in search placement.
How do you respond to convos immediately? Is it with the etsy sellers app?
Yes, I have the app set up to give me a notification when a message comes through, so I can respond as soon as I can.
