    Today we hopped on a bus from Guilin in China to the beautiful Longsheng Rice Terraces! We almost missed the bus, but thankfully we arrived safely and with enough time to soak up the area by taking an evening stroll up to one of the main viewpoints: music from paradise.
    We stayed in Dazhai village in Longsheng as we had heard it was much quieter than the other main tourist area.

    ah the sound of cicadas, actually feels very peaceful once you get used to it, the constant background noise of nature in the summer.

    The voices you heard is from cicadas. In China, cicada is considered as the symbol of the summer and it has very important role in most people's childhood summer vocation memory. Cicada is also one of the most favorite subject of Chinese poets and writers for thousands of years. (some translation--蝉[Cicada] and 蝉鸣[the voice of cicada])

    LOL That is quite the taxi ride with a family and their luggage. I was thinking maybe they will load a goat and few chickens too haha.
    Beware of the private Black Taxi scam in China and don’t ever get in one of those. Pretty common scam in China and there are quite a few videos on it on TH-cam already if you want to know how it is done.

    • @RobandJenny
      @RobandJenny  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha. Yeah. There was a lot of stuff! Thankfully no chickens! 😂
      Oh! Good intel! We will have to watch out for that. 👍

    • @sammywhammy007
      @sammywhammy007 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rob & Jenny I thought you guys would have equipped yourself on the scams in China and the Black Taxi one is very common, usually in airports and Railway Stations.
      And in China, when it comes to you and a local, the people side with the local even if he is a scammer. Good Samaritans are rare in China and they usually stay away by being indifferent to what is going on, something different from other countries which have scammers.
      Since you are exploring China on your own, look for how these tourist scams are carried out and lot of them like the Black Taxi, Teahouse Scam, Shopping Center Scam, Rickshaw Scam etc all have documented videos on TH-cam explaining the modus operandi of them.
      Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’an are the cities you need to be on extra alert for these.
