First common rail diesel system created by Fiat and Magneti Marelli at 1993 ❤️ first world's diesel engine by common-rail car is 1997 Alfa Romeo 156 2.4 JTD. All companies (TDCI, TDI, CRDI, DCI, CDI, CDTI, HDI, D4D etc.) that cause the diesel engine to develop so well are morally indebted to Fiat. If Common Rail had not been developed in the 90's, diesels would be far behind, and gasoline engines would be far ahead. The potential of diesel engines is the "common-rail", the biggest weapon to catch up with gasoline engines. Thanks Fiat ❤️

Well, these modern common rail direct fuel injection turbo-diesels are remarkably adaptive to how you drive them. For instance if you're driving at really high speeds the ECU adapts the mixture to an optimal level and as much air is sucked in as possible. On top of that diesels are built to be really robust and not rev too high so you can take them above their "design level" and discover they can faster than you expect them to.
I had a 5 speed Ducato 25 years ago. Back then it had a 2.8 L turbodiesel engine. It was not so fast though. But it ran 320.XXX km without any big engine repair. The gearbox or clutch was not repaired. I drove it in and out of Copenhagen, so a lot of stop and go driving. It had all the required maintenance at my local Fiat dealer. They can last many kms, if looked after...
Did not expect that gear change at 180kmh, damn that thing has a long 6th gear. I've had many V6 and V8 cars and most of them cruise at 3000rpm at like 120kmh and not 180
There’s a version with over 200 ps, used for campers. It’s always fun to pass other with it. At 190 the windows get sucked open snd it gets loud, but it won’t slow down 😁
For me it is more interesting, if you drive with normal cars especially family Vans instead of tuning BMWs with eighthundred or a thousand horse power.
Cars not designed to go fast, or designed for practicality or frugality (good fuel economy) is a lot more impressive when they go fast than insanely tuned premium cars.
