As a Japanese person, I am truly proud of Hachi. I believe that because Professor Ueno loved Hachi from the bottom of his heart, Hachi also admired Professor Ueno and kept waiting for him at the station, wanting to meet him again. There is no better anecdote than this. Hachi is a wonderful dog that can be proud to the world. I am confident that as long as the earth lasts, Hachi will be passed down to future generations.

I saw this movie on tv about 3 years ago with my mom and by the end we were both crying uncontrollably. My mom passed away last month and I'm just waiting for the day when she takes me home. I love you mom 4ever!

We cry because we feel the love innocent Hachi had for his owner, their bond, unbreakable. He doesn’t understand his owner is gone…forever. Animals are pure & innocent beings who only desire food, shelter & love. They don’t have philosophy, religions, politics telling them how to be, just their wonderful hearts guiding them. Humans who love a dog, cat, horse, etc. know this. More love & devotion than from our own species.
this is one of the most touching, beautiful movies i have ever seen in my entire life. any parent who wants to develop the moral character of their children, should show this movie to their children over and over again

This was enough to rip my heart out. No way I could watch the whole movie. My dog Snoopy is like that. He is lost when I'm gone. My family says he sits on the end of the couch waiting and staring. He's on my lap now wondering why I'm crying!! 😭😭😭

A dog's love for humans is as pure as mother's love for her child. Unconditional, boundless and infinite!! They're the precious gift to humans!!
A mother loves instinctively, she loves her son/daughter because he/she is her son/daughter, not as an individual, it is not a "pure" love; a dog or any other non-human animal loves for gratitude, and that love is one of the purest kinds of love.
P.S: No animal is a gift, we share the world and coexist, they are not ours, and that's fine.

Couple months ago i watched this movie with my wife and when i saw hachicko waiting for hes human knowing that he never will come back and hachicko gets old i just cry and i feel that i cant stop my tears runnin down my face because i remenber when one of my dogs dies in my arms when a was 13 years old

It's funny (by funny I mean interesting) that you say that--apparently Hachiko has changed many people's lives especially after this Richard Gere movie was made. Now, Hachi's statue at Shibuya Station is absolutely swamped with people taking photos 24/7--before the movie, it was a cool meeting spot--but NOW people fly from all over the world to see the statue and honor the world's greatest dog!

My Grandpa's dog did this. After grandpa died, his dog waited outside the gate for him to return home, he'd sit there for an hour or so, before going back in. Nobody or nothing would make him move, it broke my grandma. He did that right up until the day he died.

My dog died 2 years ago Tequila 😭Everytime i watch this i think of Tequila He was almost the same as Hachiko ..He always waited for me ..Followed me everwhere i go..Always protected me and we shared ice creams and food sometimes..I didn t even say goodbay..I just hugged him and then that night he died because he had so much pain..I feel so quilty😭I will never forget him..

Hachiko movie was one of the saddest movies ever witnessed by mankind... probably even the greatest. This always made me cry, because.. it showed me how special a dog can be to people. They are and will always be man's best friend. (PS i also cried because it reminded me of my dog who passed away....)
