RTA time: 52s 037ms (prev. 57s 333ms by Char)
Also, a nice RTA improvement.
There isn't much to say about the overworld but the sub-world is much more interesting.
The improvements to this level are all after the checkpoint.
Using a shell to break 2 brick blocks is surprisingly difficult but I do it to save time by not ducking.
The ending of the sub-world is very cool but also very hard. I groundpound-cancel at the start of the brick blocks to get a walljump and to manipulate the koopa and cheep-cheep. I then need to hit the block under the koopa asap otherwise it walks to the other half of the block which makes the shell go the wrong way. After a timed aerotwirl groundpound-cancel and avoiding the cheep-cheep, comes the hardest part of the level, the shell throw. In short, depending on the timing of the jump alters how early/late you need to throw the shell to break both blocks.
It was pretty inconsistent especially considering having to duck jump immediately to save RTA time. I duck jump because recently I found that you can save RTA time on upwards pipes as big Mario by duck jumping so his less tall which reduces the time of the 'entering the pipe' animation. Despite the difficulty this is where the majority of the time save was.
Unfortunately I barely landed on the ground and bonked at 0:38 losing about 1s so 358 is the best time for this level with current knowledge. A bit dissatisfying but I can always come back to this level.
