Gathering these resources and building this farm took so many hours that you will not believe it. And i highly suggest getting shulker boxes for this and building it on an ocean. The farm works amazingly, thank you.
Did you find you need to light up caves? I’m wondering if I should build it higher above the ocean but don’t want to if I don’t need to as will reduce spawns

@@argelys i did know. Maybe they meant 18 stacks for just the layers not including the rest of the build, because we had to keep going and getting more.
Figured i’d come back to share how it went, this is the first creeper farm i’ve built and this guy made it very easy and i’m getting a huge amount of gunpowder, i suggest building all 6 layers if you have the time and resources, just a tip i spent a shulker full of logs on all the buttons, trapdoors, etc so make sure you have plenty.
@@BagreArtista Very very expensive. i took down a whole birch forest with 2 Efficiency 4 diamond axes, and i need just over a shulker full to the brim with wood, if you have the time it’s definitely worth it i already have a chest full of gunpowder

Thank you so much! It works really good even with only 4 layers, but I probably will finish the last two aswell at one point. I lit up the ocean floor around the farm with jack-o-lanterns so no spawning drowned would mess with the spawning rate of the creepers.

material list for layer exatly is 1 stack and 36 buttons per layer , 4 stacks & 5 trapdoors (top and buttom) per layer, I did the math and placed em myself. Stacks of building blocks aren't necessary to count its around 2 shulkers a bit more or less . hope this helps
After an hour collecting materials and a couple hours building and I can say that this far works great I hadn’t even finished the farm yet and I already had just over a stack of gunpowder. 10/10

After the recent updates, I'm getting a ton of spiders spawning on each level of the farm. Do you know what changed that? The farm was working great before. Now I'm getting string and limited gun powder. Update: the bug has been reported. I have had success by switching out the buttons for Iron Bars.
Just finished the build! I might have ran out of blocks a couple times but the results were worth it. The creepers immediately started spawning as i changed it from peaceful to hard
NO you don't neet 30 stacks of slab It is written there because either you can use full block or slabs And don,t use nethrrack it does not spawn creeper
Only problem with trident killers is you have to reset them every time you leave the chunks unloaded for a certain amount of time. It’s the only problem I have with my raid farm.
If anyone wants spend less time gathering resources heres a tip. For the building blocks make a cobblestone generator(I got a full shulkerbox worth in like 15m from afking). And for the wood either go to a tiga forest or place 4 saplings in a square to get a huge tree(also works with jungle trees). The tree gives about 1 stack of logs and if you have bonemeal it makes it much faster. You can get like 10 stacks of logs in less than 20 mins hope this helped anyone with resources
Built this farm although it took me 10 hours by myself, in survival, on an edible. It works great. I only have one spot that spawns anything that’s not a creeper (I missed a trapdoor I think). I’ve gotten enough tnt to build a cool hole in the map to bedrock. Excited for it thanks for the video man.
I love this person so much. The only thing I was concerned about was materials per level and that was in the description! This person gets a sub and a like for being so amazing

For those who are still struggling if you are near land then turn your render distance down. If you are on land place torches all around and also turn your render distance down.

My friends and I just finished this build on our realm. It works perfectly and is a very simple farm design. I would highly recommend this to engine interested in this type of farm. Definitely build all 6 layers it is worth it.

Friendly tip, it’s gonna take you about 3 or so shulker boxes of building blocks (around 70-100 stacks) for all 6 layers + roof and 30 stacks of slabs just for the roof
I’ve made it one layer and I even made it super dark I lit up the areas where mobs can spawn and checked for spawners yet no creepers would spawn what didn’t I do wrong and what can I do to fix it
I just finished building this and I haven’t seen any creepers spawn yet. I am on a server I made when building this. If anyone can help please do. Only thing I did differently from this video is I used different varieties of wood for the buttons and trapdoors
This farm is soooo good and I recommend this entirely however just be warned for the full six layers )which you should make) you need like four shulkers 2 with your building block and two with slabs
Works like a charm, even on nintendo switch. But however many stacks of wood and stone you think you may need, double it, then double it again. Takes way more material than you'd expect by looking at it, but once it's up and running, it's fantastic. Thank you oink for the build
I FINALLY FINISHED. It took me a about 3 days because I work a lot. I used up all my Cobble stone. I used up all my wood. Long story short this farm works. And I built it on land. It works slow but it works for me!
Just spent several hours building this, it does take time to build and get the resources but it’s definitely worth it. Im getting a stack every 9-10 minutes when AFK! I built this on bedrock 1.20 in a realm with friends. It really works 5 stars!
Anyone paying attention will notice the materials lists inaccuracies, so I recalculated it: Roof: 43x43 Size = 1849 Blocks = 28 stacks + 57 items of blocks and slabs (3 stacks + 40 logs if you use wood for the slabs) Blocks per Layer: 19x19 Size = 361 - 81 gaps = 280 blocks = 4 stacks + 34 items 81 Trapdoors in the gaps + 180 on bottom of next layer = 261 trapdoors = 4 stacks + 5 = 196 logs of wood 100 Buttons = 100 Planks = 25 logs Water funnel and falling shute: 582 Blocks (cant be bothered to put all the calculations in here, trust me) 42 Glass 80 stairs (140 Building Blocks to craft them) 9 hoppers 2 chests 9 campfires Overall for 6 layers: 4111 Building Blocks (not including stairs or slabs) = 64 stacks + 15 (66 stacks 27 including stairs) 80 Stairs (1 stack + 16) 1326 logs (20 stacks + 46) for buttons and trapdoors + 3 stacks + 40 logs for slabs = 24 stacks + 22 logs (24 stacks + 57 logs if you make stairs from wood also) 42 glass 9 hoppers 2 chests 9 campfires 2 water buckets 1 leaf block Edit: If youre seeing this Oink, feel free to edit the description of the video or pin this, your calculations are wayyyyy off especially for the building blocks
Wow. This only took me an hour of me and my friend grinding wood (farm was made out of crimson planks and jungle/bamboo trapdoors and buttons) and an hour of building for a great product.
Update: I built this and it does work 👍 I built it over water with nether rack because its fast to mine but be careful I had a creeper accidently pop and took a chunk out and had to rebuild but other than Im happy with the farm
Thank you for this easy and nice tutorial! I build this farm yesterday in 1.20.51 and it worked greater than I thought. But I recommend to build a trident killer or killing the creeper with a looting sword by hand. Sorry for my bad english, I am learning english right now...😅
I’ve built this twice in about a month span works great. Easy to build. 1 shulker of trap doors, 1/2 shulker of buttons. Got a stack and a half of gunpowder just building it. I have noticed if you build it 100 blocks or so above the water it’s better rates because only creepers will spawn, no drowned
@@donniewalrad1147 I’m not sure I’ve used this design since 1.18, I built one and was getting drowned, but I’ll take it since it has a good chance they drop the shells, then you can build conduits easily. Rotten flesh for emeralds, it’s a win win in my book. It’s made for AFK
after like 5 hours in survival, i finally finished and can confirm this WORKS🥹 i was gonna cry if it didnt after so many hours. waited 15 minutes in a night cycle and got over a stack of gunpowder. A few other mobs spawned but more creepers than anything. thank you SOOO much
For anyone having any problems with how much gunpowder ur getting, if ur building the layers really high up then don’t cs the creepers can die when falling down n accidentally hitting the trapdoor so I suggest build more layers but next to eachother instead of more layers high up n make the water pool bigger to catch all of them
and for anyone like me who already built up 6 layers and was having issues with fall damage, i just put 9 signs a few blocks above the campfires with a single water source to break the creepers fall, it slows down the killing process a little bit but ensures none will die from fall damage
Any ideas to why mine is not spawning as many creepers as expected? I got less than a stack an hour (AFK for 8 and got 7 1/2 stacks). Followed the video and just double checked did not notice anything different. To make it work for me I had to lower Simulation distance AND render distance
Something might be taking up the mob cap make sure you built it in the ocean and if you build it higher then it will be more effective I think I built it at y128 to make sure no mobs are spawning in the water below it

I have the exact same problem and because of them after an hour i got a stack of gunpowder instead of 20 i should have gotten (i built 9 layers) have you found a fix yet? Edit: I just had a look and you can fix it by alternating the buttons on the spawning platforms with buttons and trapdoor. Hope this helps :)
I took the time to build this on my survival world and it works, but idk why, some spiders spawn on the farm and they make it difficult for creepers to spawn :(
I set chunk sim down to 4, render distance down to 15 chunks, all 6 layers and walked away for like 10 mins to a stack and some change. Phenomenal, I love it, I barely even covered the ground. Note: I did start a Y=164 so flying up and around was the way to move, kinda sucked but worth it in the end.
@lilboxinboxout2602 did you put all the trapdoors up? I ran into no issues, it's a heavily tedious build with all the doors and buttons, they should fill the spaces so nothing but creepers can spawn
I would like to do some exchanges in the killing chamber i will replace the campfire with slab because if we have a looting 3 sword and we are killing creepers from looting 3 sword it gives us more gunpowder instead of killing it with fire.
After using this farm for about a week and half if y’all wanna see some crazy amounts of gunpowder take the time to build 4 of them around your afk spot really high in the air and quadruple what you get an hour it’s great for realms
Guys this is a good farm it’s not new been around for abit but notes is you will need at least 60 stacks of normal blocks to do this basically a double chest 30 stacks will get you 3 full floors and 4 one started also you probably need roughly 3 rows of trapdoors
If you have the bonemeal for it I highly recommend you use it to grown 2x2 spruce trees over and over to collect all the wood. I was able to get a shulker box of logs very quickly this way. Also making a stone quarry in an extreme hills biome helped me get the building blocks rather quickly. Plus you’ll get some coal and iron.

I did some tinkering while making this, and I noticed something important: in order to reduce the spawn of mobs other than creepers, make sure that the trapdoors are all running in the same direction. I'm not sure why it matters, but when I changed every layer to be the same running direction (still on the top side of the blocks), it significantly reduced the spawning of other mobs- in fact, I haven't seen any since I did the change.
@@im_a_munchx that's what I did- notice in the video that the creator places all their trapdoors in the same direction? Because they didn't explicitly mention that it was nessasary, I didn't end up doing the same for some of my layers. Thankfully, because I tested this out in a creative world first, I was able to change it without much difficulty.
For anyone looking for a farm of this type, it works amazingly! Well worth it to be quite honest. It works extremely well but I added in a 3x3 trident killer to add the looting effect (it happens only while I hold out my looting 3 sword) and I get even more drops!
@@gabrichir6568 trident killers act like the player is killing whatever mob it is hooked up to so having a looting 3 sword out in your hand will increase the amount of gunpowder you get because it also effects the tridents since you are technically killing them
Thanks for the video. I just posted a video of my build. I followed your video. I'm relatively new to Minecraft and want to remove a mountain with TNT after trying slowly with a pick axe. This was the biggest project for me so far. My previous builds were of a villager farm and an iron farm. It took a lot of time and resources for me but was worth it. Instead of having an AFK position I just fish from the location and collect gun powder while fishing. Can't wait to start using TNT to remove a mountain. Thanks for the video
so I replaced the campfires with just them falling and being at 1HP because I have looting so I would get more gunpowder. But the only problem is when I sit in the normal AFK spot, the creepers despawn at the bottom. Do you know any place I could AFK at without the creepers despawning? btw this creeper farm is really good so ty
PSA for that's low on wood - you can use stone buttons instead of wooden ones! Just finished building this, Ill be back with the rates in an hour. Btw I modified the kill chamber to be a trident killer rather than a creeper roaster, so I should be racking up more gunpowder (Looting 3 sword)
@@donniewalrad1147 stone buttons worked, and with the trident killer I racked up a double chest and a half of gunpowder AFK overnight. I don't think there's much of a difference whether you use campfires or a trident killer.
For anyone wondering, works great in bedrock! Sitting afk I get around a stack every ten minutes give or take and its only creepers spawning so its pretty nice. would recommend
Hey can anyone help me? Everyone is saying the works great, but my creepers arent spawning, ive done everything right in tutorial and even lit ground and caves up
Check your buttons placement, they are here to prevent spiders from spawning (they need a 2x2 block area to spawn if I’m not mistaken, hence the need to place buttons every other block to prevent spiders from spawning)
Trapdoor only allow Creepers because the average mob (and player) is 1.8 blocks tall, the trap door is 0.3 tall so the average mob can't spawn under a trapdoor because they are 0.1 taller when a trapdoor is present inside of 2 blocks of space, the only mob that can spawn (besides spiders, if you don't have buttons) is the creeper because it is exactly 1.7 blocks tall
After like a couple of days of deciding wether I should do it or not I did and I ran out of materials a couple of times but can say it works thanks bro 😎

If you turn the campfires into a trident killer, you should be able to use looting 3 and, if stood at the right angle, get the xp
and you need to move the farm 128 blocks above the surface

Built this farm although it took me 10 hours by myself, in survival, on an edible. It works great. I only have one spot that spawns anything that’s not a creeper (I missed a trapdoor I think). I’ve gotten enough tnt to build a cool hole in the map to bedrock. Excited for it thanks for the video man.

Great tutorial the instructions were easy to follow! Definitely turn down render distance, that will help with rates. Also bring lots of blocks as I burned through 2 shuckers full of cobble while building this farm. 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

For those who are still struggling if you are near land then turn your render distance down. If you are on land place torches all around and also turn your render distance down.

Took forever to get all the wood and stone building blocks (and a couple hours to build the farm), but besides that it works likes a dream! So much gunpowder, thank you so much 🎉
My friends and I just finished this build on our realm. It works perfectly and is a very simple farm design. I would highly recommend this to engine interested in this type of farm. Definitely build all 6 layers it is worth it.

Friendly tip, it’s gonna take you about 3 or so shulker boxes of building blocks (around 70-100 stacks) for all 6 layers + roof and 30 stacks of slabs just for the roof

I’ve made it one layer and I even made it super dark I lit up the areas where mobs can spawn and checked for spawners yet no creepers would spawn what didn’t I do wrong and what can I do to fix it

I just finished building this and I haven’t seen any creepers spawn yet. I am on a server I made when building this. If anyone can help please do. Only thing I did differently from this video is I used different varieties of wood for the buttons and trapdoors

This farm is soooo good and I recommend this entirely however just be warned for the full six layers )which you should make) you need like four shulkers 2 with your building block and two with slabs

Works like a charm, even on nintendo switch. But however many stacks of wood and stone you think you may need, double it, then double it again. Takes way more material than you'd expect by looking at it, but once it's up and running, it's fantastic. Thank you oink for the build

I FINALLY FINISHED. It took me a about 3 days because I work a lot. I used up all my Cobble stone. I used up all my wood. Long story short this farm works. And I built it on land. It works slow but it works for me!
Just spent several hours building this, it does take time to build and get the resources but it’s definitely worth it. Im getting a stack every 9-10 minutes when AFK! I built this on bedrock 1.20 in a realm with friends. It really works 5 stars!

Anyone paying attention will notice the materials lists inaccuracies, so I recalculated it:
Roof:
43x43 Size = 1849 Blocks = 28 stacks + 57 items of blocks and slabs (3 stacks + 40 logs if you use wood for the slabs)
Blocks per Layer:
19x19 Size = 361 - 81 gaps = 280 blocks = 4 stacks + 34 items
81 Trapdoors in the gaps + 180 on bottom of next layer = 261 trapdoors = 4 stacks + 5 = 196 logs of wood
100 Buttons = 100 Planks = 25 logs
Water funnel and falling shute:
582 Blocks (cant be bothered to put all the calculations in here, trust me)
42 Glass
80 stairs (140 Building Blocks to craft them)
9 hoppers
2 chests
9 campfires
Overall for 6 layers:
4111 Building Blocks (not including stairs or slabs) = 64 stacks + 15 (66 stacks 27 including stairs)

I recommend putting 3-4 cats on each layer to scare the creepers into the holes because they would just stand there and do nothing form me.

Update: I built this and it does work 👍 I built it over water with nether rack because its fast to mine but be careful I had a creeper accidently pop and took a chunk out and had to rebuild but other than Im happy with the farm
Thank you for this easy and nice tutorial! I build this farm yesterday in 1.20.51 and it worked greater than I thought. But I recommend to build a trident killer or killing the creeper with a looting sword by hand. Sorry for my bad english, I am learning english right now...😅
I’ve built this twice in about a month span works great. Easy to build. 1 shulker of trap doors, 1/2 shulker of buttons. Got a stack and a half of gunpowder just building it. I have noticed if you build it 100 blocks or so above the water it’s better rates because only creepers will spawn, no drowned
is this the same design as Rediscover Redstone's farm? everyone on his vid is complaining about drowned and spiders
@@donniewalrad1147 I’m not sure I’ve used this design since 1.18, I built one and was getting drowned, but I’ll take it since it has a good chance they drop the shells, then you can build conduits easily. Rotten flesh for emeralds, it’s a win win in my book. It’s made for AFK
I built mine 100 blocks up and every mob is still spawning on the farm how can I stop that?

tip: if you use a trident killer with a looting 3 sword instead of campfires you will get 13 stacks per hour instead of 10
it would definitely increase the rates with a looting 3 sword
amazing farm i built this couple months ago still using it (those trap doors are hell i was getting dizzy placing those)
after like 5 hours in survival, i finally finished and can confirm this WORKS🥹 i was gonna cry if it didnt after so many hours. waited 15 minutes in a night cycle and got over a stack of gunpowder. A few other mobs spawned but more creepers than anything. thank you SOOO much
For anyone having any problems with how much gunpowder ur getting, if ur building the layers really high up then don’t cs the creepers can die when falling down n accidentally hitting the trapdoor so I suggest build more layers but next to eachother instead of more layers high up n make the water pool bigger to catch all of them
and for anyone like me who already built up 6 layers and was having issues with fall damage, i just put 9 signs a few blocks above the campfires with a single water source to break the creepers fall, it slows down the killing process a little bit but ensures none will die from fall damage

TLDR: if you want more layers, make it horizontal, not vertical.
Any ideas to why mine is not spawning as many creepers as expected? I got less than a stack an hour (AFK for 8 and got 7 1/2 stacks). Followed the video and just double checked did not notice anything different.
To make it work for me I had to lower Simulation distance AND render distance
turn your simulation and render distance down also try making a bigger roof so there is less light going into the farm
Something might be taking up the mob cap make sure you built it in the ocean and if you build it higher then it will be more effective I think I built it at y128 to make sure no mobs are spawning in the water below it

I have the exact same problem and because of them after an hour i got a stack of gunpowder instead of 20 i should have gotten (i built 9 layers) have you found a fix yet?
Edit: I just had a look and you can fix it by alternating the buttons on the spawning platforms with buttons and trapdoor. Hope this helps :)
Just exchange those buttons on layers with trapdoors then no spider will spawn

I took the time to build this on my survival world and it works, but idk why, some spiders spawn on the farm and they make it difficult for creepers to spawn :(
use soul campfires instead of normal campfires (more efficient)

I set chunk sim down to 4, render distance down to 15 chunks, all 6 layers and walked away for like 10 mins to a stack and some change. Phenomenal, I love it, I barely even covered the ground.
Note: I did start a Y=164 so flying up and around was the way to move, kinda sucked but worth it in the end.
Is Y=250 good also for the creeper farm?

@lilboxinboxout2602 did you put all the trapdoors up? I ran into no issues, it's a heavily tedious build with all the doors and buttons, they should fill the spaces so nothing but creepers can spawn

I would like to do some exchanges in the killing chamber i will replace the campfire with slab because if we have a looting 3 sword and we are killing creepers from looting 3 sword it gives us more gunpowder instead of killing it with fire.
After using this farm for about a week and half if y’all wanna see some crazy amounts of gunpowder take the time to build 4 of them around your afk spot really high in the air and quadruple what you get an hour it’s great for realms

Guys this is a good farm it’s not new been around for abit but notes is you will need at least 60 stacks of normal blocks to do this basically a double chest 30 stacks will get you 3 full floors and 4 one started also you probably need roughly 3 rows of trapdoors
IKRRR, I hated going back to mine after realizing I wasn’t gonna have nothing close to enough.
If you have the bonemeal for it I highly recommend you use it to grown 2x2 spruce trees over and over to collect all the wood. I was able to get a shulker box of logs very quickly this way. Also making a stone quarry in an extreme hills biome helped me get the building blocks rather quickly. Plus you’ll get some coal and iron.

I did some tinkering while making this, and I noticed something important: in order to reduce the spawn of mobs other than creepers, make sure that the trapdoors are all running in the same direction. I'm not sure why it matters, but when I changed every layer to be the same running direction (still on the top side of the blocks), it significantly reduced the spawning of other mobs- in fact, I haven't seen any since I did the change.
so make the trapdoors going one way?
@@im_a_munchx that's what I did- notice in the video that the creator places all their trapdoors in the same direction? Because they didn't explicitly mention that it was nessasary, I didn't end up doing the same for some of my layers. Thankfully, because I tested this out in a creative world first, I was able to change it without much difficulty.

For anyone looking for a farm of this type, it works amazingly! Well worth it to be quite honest. It works extremely well but I added in a 3x3 trident killer to add the looting effect (it happens only while I hold out my looting 3 sword) and I get even more drops!

@@gabrichir6568 trident killers act like the player is killing whatever mob it is hooked up to so having a looting 3 sword out in your hand will increase the amount of gunpowder you get because it also effects the tridents since you are technically killing them

Thanks for the video. I just posted a video of my build. I followed your video. I'm relatively new to Minecraft and want to remove a mountain with TNT after trying slowly with a pick axe. This was the biggest project for me so far. My previous builds were of a villager farm and an iron farm. It took a lot of time and resources for me but was worth it. Instead of having an AFK position I just fish from the location and collect gun powder while fishing. Can't wait to start using TNT to remove a mountain. Thanks for the video

so I replaced the campfires with just them falling and being at 1HP because I have looting so I would get more gunpowder. But the only problem is when I sit in the normal AFK spot, the creepers despawn at the bottom. Do you know any place I could AFK at without the creepers despawning? btw this creeper farm is really good so ty

if you are considering making this all out of stone brick it takes around 4 shulker boxes of cobble and 24stacks of coal 👍👍👍
If your needing that much stone bricks just use silk touch and a stone cutter

Check your buttons placement, they are here to prevent spiders from spawning (they need a 2x2 block area to spawn if I’m not mistaken, hence the need to place buttons every other block to prevent spiders from spawning)

Great farm! But one question, what happened if you don’t put trapdoors at the top where there is no button like on the empty spaces ?
Some other mobs will spawn (zombies, skellies... The buttons stop spiders from spawning...)

Trapdoor only allow Creepers because the average mob (and player) is 1.8 blocks tall, the trap door is 0.3 tall so the average mob can't spawn under a trapdoor because they are 0.1 taller when a trapdoor is present inside of 2 blocks of space, the only mob that can spawn (besides spiders, if you don't have buttons) is the creeper because it is exactly 1.7 blocks tall
