  • In this episode from Driving With Gloves, Cor drives an Alfa Romeo Alfetta 2000 from 1982.
    The Alfetta 2000 introduced in 1972 the transaxle drivetrain to Alfa Romeo. It has also inboard disc brakes. Although the built qualtity was not always the best at Alfa Romeo, this Alfa Romeo Alfetta 2000, is still in a good condition. Also introduced in 1972 was the E12 5 series from BMW. The Alfetta is a way sportier and better handling car than the BMW of that time.

    The first time I drove it I was amazed by the driving qualities and comfort: the car was soft on rough roads but glued to the ground, which gave excellent sensations of safety.
    When accelerating when cornering you could exactly feel the push between the seats

      I totally agree with you. Only the brakes are poor.

    20 yo kid here and I just can't wait till I have the chance to get my hands on one of those italian 80's cars..I don't know it's just the whole style and aesthetic that gets me everytime

    Modern cars don't have that boldness, charm and aura that 90s and 80s cars had

    • @DrivingwithGloves

      You are absolutely right. To transport people from A to B modern cars are perfect, but the joy of driving is mostly missing. The cool thing about classic cars is, that every car make, had its own character. Less perfect is sometimes better 😉

      Leuk een Nederlands commentaar te lezen. En ook leuk dat ik onbewust een tijdmachine heb gecreëerd.

    Salve! Ne ho possedute due di Alfetta, la prima una 1600 del 1979 a quattro fari e delli stesso colore testa di moro come la sua. La seconda un 1800 del 1985 dell'ultima serie. Grande Alfa 👍🏻👍🏻

    Not a bad video, but it makes me sad. Have all the 2.0 Alfetta GTVs rusted away? The saloon version was the uncool version. They were even cooler before the switch to plastic bumpers. Anyone want to gift me a 1977 GTV... in ANY condition?

    • @DrivingwithGloves
      @DrivingwithGloves  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are right the saloon with the square headlights and rubber bumpers is not the prettiest Alfetta. But this is what I received for this video. And it was quite a nice ride. I do not know where you are from, but I can assure you that still some of the GTV's survived. Well at least here in Switzerland, especially in the south you see them once in a while.

    Loved the rusty Alfa shots suddenly popping up. Even in California they look like that.

    I really like the 1960's Alfa cars specifically the Giulietta Spider sport sedan. Hope you can do a review of one sometime, especially since I'll never get a chance to own one.
    But since few TH-camrs review French cars, how about a review of the 1971-ish Renault R17 Gordini? Typically weird French in design, I wonder what kind of a sports car it really was?
    Thanks for all interesting videos of vintage European machines!

    • @DrivingwithGloves
      @DrivingwithGloves  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I must admit, that until now I did not have the chance to review a French car. It depends always what is available. But the more the channel grows, the easier it will be to approach other garages and owners of cars. But thank you very much for your input and I will surely keep it in mind. Although I did not make a review about a Giulietta Spider jet, I have made a review about a Spider Coda Tronca a few months ago.
