    Thank you Vince, another really informative video. I've had some silly day's chasing that zero!! Gone off for a cuppa then come back and started again doing it properly 👍👍 keep at it, thanks again. Daz.

    “That’s the way to do it!” All I would add is that if the pellets aren’t grouping at all ( presuming you’re using the correct hold) change the pellets until you find ones that do group together and then continue with adjustments.

      Spot on buddy, grouping always comes before zeroing as every old squaddie will tell you😉thanks the for the comment mate 👍👍👍

    Many thanks Vin, just bought a HW35K (superb rifle) that came with a hawke 3-9 x40 fastmount, I took it off to try open sights, if I put it back on I’ll use this method to zero it. Keep em coming, good luck with the squirrels,look forward to the video 👍

    Well explained vince 👍 Zeroing with a few shots you want to do with expensive centerfire hunting ammo but i don't care how many shots it will take with airgun pellets. If i put a new scope on an air rifle my first shot is on 5 meters because on 25 meteres you sometimes are not even hit a A4 format paper. Than i do the adjustment and move the target to 25 meters for the fine adjustment as you perfectly explain.. Cheers!

      @vincentenglish8489  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks buddy. On a 12fpe if you kinda zero at 10m you'll be on paper at 30-35m. I used to be lucky as HMG paid for my centre fire ammo, nothing like getting your tax back in brass and lead 😉

      @@vincentenglish8489 Som of my air rifles like my HW30 is dead on on10 and 30 meters but the most of my HO rifles hit a few centimeters higher on 30 meters. A box of 20 rounds .308 win. Norma Oryx hunting ammo kost me about 75 pounds. FMJ are cheaper and i get 50 rounds for that price. Got myself all RCBS equipment i need to reload. It did hurt to much in my wallet to shoot centerfire for fun😒Now i have dies for .308win. and 222rem. I,m a hunter and i want to keep practice on moving animal targets to keep myself in shape. To quit practicing because of high ammo costs will have consequences and i don't want to hurt animals.

    Hi Vin, Interesting. If my first cluster was where you show yours, i would poss. be looking at 30-40 clicks on my Hawke scopes at 25 yards. so would initially trim the rear scope mount to obtain minimum clicks, Just shot my 35 year old 80 to test some Hobby pellets bought as highly recommended for HW 35. Terrible. Shot 5no superdome and 5no hobby and all the lot through the same holes. 35 year old HW80, never dismantled. Great gun. David.

      @vincentenglish8489  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi buddy, I was using that as a kind of example, however for that POI on that POA you'd still be ok without shimming your mounts. Remember as distance increases between you and target so does the relative value of your clicks ps. I just don't think they make the new springers like the old models

  • @paulspeller968

    excellent mate yes indeed great method 👍 . me i mark a big old cross on an A4 bit of paper make sure my scope is opticaly centred then shoot a group at the horizontal line make my adjustments till i am on the line then aim at the vertical line make my adjustment’s till i hit that line . after that i will shoot at a pellet mark i put down for fine adjustments. definitely groups of 5 . reason i do it that way and its a personal thing is i get in a right state trying to do both adjustments at once 🤣🤣🤣 end up clicking the life out of the turrets because i can’t remember which way i went doing left right and up down 🤣🤣🤣. must be getting old mate

    • @vincentenglish8489
      @vincentenglish8489  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That works great too mate. The way I stop myself getting confused is I leave the windage turret caps on until I'm done with elevation. I think a little video is in order on how to 'box' your scope to test out it's actual click value, vertical and horizontal cross hair plane and return to zero. This helps show if there's cant or a dodgy scope.... Hey we all get old, personally I love spending 10 mins looking for my glasses that are on top of my head 😂😂😂

  • @markkieran1004
    @markkieran1004 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    And with cheap scopes, up isn't always vertically up, one click isn't always 1/4 moa and it will vary from click to click.

    • @vincentenglish8489
      @vincentenglish8489  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Perfectly true buddy, however out of the dozens and dozens of scopes I've dealt with over the years I reckon I see alot more incorrectly mounted with induced cant then people blame the scope. A few weeks ago a chappy was attempting to zero a .22 magnum with a stunning Leupold scope (which cost considerably more than the rifle) and was moaning the click value was rubbish and not adjusting properly in the horizontal and vertical planes ....lol.. a quick peek through the scope showed the horizontal cross hairs and posts leaning like a famous Italian tower 😂😂😂

  • @barlscharkley5411
    @barlscharkley5411 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    If your impacts are hitting low and left, you want to adjust your scope down and left, not up and right, i.e., move the crosshairs toward the impacts. Perhaps looking at the target from above confused the instructions you were giving.

    • @vincentenglish8489
      @vincentenglish8489  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes and no and no and yes. I think I'd better clarify to stop people getting confused. Ok so if you placed a rifle say in a sled and fired a shot and its POI was say 8 o'clock low without disturbing the rifle etc etc you'd look through the scope and adjust the cross hairs down and left to the 8 o'clock to rest on the centre of the pellet/bullet hole. This is in essence a one shot zero. If you use the method I use hold the rifle in your hands, fire a group of 5, MPI is say 8 o'clock low left again. Undo elevation turret and look on the dial, there's usually an arrow pointing anti clockwise with the word UP next to it. Turning this anti clockwise will shift your POI up. Same on windage dials they will have an arrow with the letter L or R next to it. Turning the dial in the direction of the arrow will alter the POI either left or right depending whatever letter is next to it. Great comment buddy, I should have clarified all this on my video. 👍👍👍
