Yue is definitely one of my favourite characters of the whole show, when I was watching ATLA for the first time the ending of Book 1 was the first moment I got really emotional and even cried. At least now I find watching the moon very comforting because I can always think of Yue..
It's crazy how after I've watched the avatar for more than a decade, have I realized that when everything goes white and dark with the spirit killed, everybody's eyes and body are greyish too, but it's only Yue's eyes that are still blue abd clearly white in that darkened world. I basically recognised this when Iroh looked at her, and saw it that she was touched by the moon. I just now rewatched that scene, and realized with Iroh. Crazy, right? Man, I wonder what kind of other little detail can I find in the big detail treasure, that is this show.

Yue and Sokka wouldn't have worked for the simple fact that she was a princess. Aside from their infatuation with one another, they didn't have much of anything in common. However just within Sokka's first meeting with Suki, those two had better chemistry and more in common. They were both stubborn, strong willed , fighters, and sarcastic. Not to mention that they were in a position to actually be in a relationship, Suki wasn't a princess engaged to someone else like Yue. Sokka and Suki is more relatable and realistic.
Well Sokka and Yue did hit it off pretty well. Yeah things were a bit awkward at first, but fair reminder: they are 16. Teenage romance is rarely the most steady at first. But when the whole arranged marriages thing isn't brought up, Yue is charmed by Sokka's quirkiness and sense of sarcastic humor. It's a relationship that could of worked if, a) the arranged marriage thing wasn't a thing and b) Yue didn't have to sacrifice herself to save the world.

I like Yue but my complaint about her is that she was never bold enough to leave behind her culture's sexist traditions and beliefs. She should have abandoned her duties and gotten with Sokka.
